A New York restaurant setting up roots in Miami is nothing new, but a New York restaurant doing a stellar job at it is somewhat rare. Enter Upland Miami, the second outpost of mega-popular Upland New York. Helmed by chef Justin Smillie, the restaurant serves as an ode to his California roots and his hometown of Upland, California. The new American menu is filled with rustic and seasonal classics. We began with the much buzzed about Pistachio Pizza topped with fontina, stracciatella and red onion and it certainly didn’t disappoint. That was paired with a fresh Little Gem Salad filled with avocado, cucumber, ricotta salata and walnut vinaigrette; Crispy Duck Wings tossed in lemon, olive oil and yuzu kasha; Seared Octopus with cilantro-avocado pesto, pomelo and marcona almonds and a massive Whole Crispy Hen of the Woods Mushroom served with cloumage and herbs that was the hit of the table. Next up was the pasta course. While the table was admittedly already getting full, we kept trucking through the delectable carb feast. We got a taste of the Pappardelle made with spicy sausage ragù, kale and parmigiano; the pasta dish that seems to be on the menu of just about every restaurant in town lately, Cacio e Pepe; and the Rigatoni with coal roasted vegetables, house ricotta and smoked pine nuts. Finally were the massive — and delicious — main courses. Definitely have your appetite ready for these large dishes, the standouts included the Coal Roasted Short Rib for two with Castelvetrano olives, walnuts, celery and horseradish; the perfectly cooked Wood-Fired Amish Chicken with chicories, market radish and anchovy vinaigrette; and the Coral Roasted Salmon with Florida grapefruit, pickled beets and farro salad. Helping us wash down all these dishes were the stellar cocktails including the Italian Sour with Aperol, Strega, Campari, Grapefruit Lemon, Egg White; the Shakedown Street with Cimarron Blanco Tequila, Yellow Chartreuse Agave, Hibiscus-White Pepper Tincture, Lime; and the Upland Old Fashioned with Plantation Pineapple Rum, Habanero Tincture Orange + Cardamom and Angostura Bitters. And one must always end on a sweet note, and the California Dreamsicle with blood orange-vanilla twist and chocolate crunchies certainly didn’t disappoint. Get a taste for the dishes yourself at Upland Miami and in the meantime check out the mouthwatering pictures below.

Disappointing! Decided to drop in for dinner and sat in bar area. Ordered the Little Gem Salad to start - Avocado, cucumber, ricotta + walnut vinaigrette. Note also includes chopped walnuts not shown in the menu. The salad looked great and the texture of the crisp salata, soft avocado and ricotta worked very well. But the extreme acidity of the vinaigrette killed it. Far too acidic, not peasant to eat and a dressing that did not enhance or balance the dish. My main course was the Upland Cioppino - stew of clams, red shrimp, mussels, market fish, jumbo lump crab + gochujang. This sounded like a potentially fantastic dish but did anyone in the kitchen check the base soup before it went out? Far too extreme, hot and spicy - just killed all the great natural flavours of the fish. You simply couldnt taste or discern any of the fish - a dish horribly out of balance. Not just disappointing, extremely annoying! So Uplands Ive given you three stars - one for the super professional waitress Ivone, and two stars for the cooking.

Everything about this place is extremely high quality. First off, the restaurant itself has the most beautiful decor of any restaurant Ive ever seen. Even all of the nuts screws and bolts are brass. The lighting is amazing, the copper, dark green and wood material pallet is executed beautifully. The food is just as good. The branzino was to die for. The service was also top notch. Be ready to pay for it though. Prices will give you sticker shock.

Lugar acogedor donde la decoración y la música se armonizan bien. Personal atento, buen servicio y comida variada y bien elaborada. Aunque un poco sobre precio es un sitio q vale la pena visitar sobre todo en grupos

Hard to know where to start, decor was stellar, service was knowledgeable, personable and extremely professional and the food was out of this world good. Highly recommend the duck and the roasted broccoli and mousse for dessert, both were exceptional. Great ambiance, not too loud but vibrant and definitely worth the higher price tag for a wonderful dinner experience.

One of the best Italian restaurants Ive eaten at! Everything was amazing. Had the broccoli pizza, fried artichokes, and cacio e pepe. Wine and cocktails. And the chocolate hazelnut tart for dessert. Everything was perfect. Staff was great and service was fast, they werent super busy but they looked like they had the staff to accommodate. Definitely go here!

Wait staff was excellent, food was incredible...The decor of the restaurant was very stylish and tailored. The only complaint was the valet service... Too few attendants and a very long wait to get the car after the meal.(about 20 mins)

Simply awesome. Equally as good as Upland NY, but with a menu that pays total respect to local ingredients. The room is amazing, the music on point and wait staff is friendly and very attentive. Chef Smillie killed it!

Great food! But you have to scream to be heard by companions... like everyone else is doing---at least at bar. Some soft materials to absorb sound and 3 stars would be 5. Fast service at bar and food delivery.

Incredible vibes and great food. Try the old fashion and do not go at midnight when the kitchen closes. Entire staff is really nice. Ill be going again next time I visit Miami
