Im fond of Mexican food because Ive lived for a long time in that lovely country. In Miami its hard to find good Mexican Restaurants because most of them are either fast food or the taste in upgraded restaurants is somehow curved to please the American palate. Somebody recommended El Rancho Grande; a little restaurant located in Kendall Drive and told me that their food was genuine Mexican. So I visited the place and in fact its a "little restaurant" but at first instance you feel that you’re in the right place. To begin with , I ordered a Margarita and since I lived seven years in Mexico, I know what a good Margarita tastes like and this one was kind of BITTER, so I thought to myself: if I get to order another one I will ask the bartender to use FRESHLY squeezed lemon juice. Of course they offer you tortilla chips with salsa and, to my knowledge the salsa at this place, is far from being the Mexican "Pico de Gallo" made out of chopped onion, tomato, Jalapeño or Serrano chili and cilantro combined with oil, lemon, salt, pepper and an optional dash of cumin; thats all there is to it, its not supposed to be mushy tomato with all kinds of spices to make it taste Mexican. Their menu features Mexican dishes all right but I wasnt able to tell at all if the taste was Mexican because I burnt my tongue and the entire inside of my mouth with the first bite I took of the "Chilaquiles Con Carne Asada" that I ordered. The dish was VERY HOT, in fact PIPING HOT. The environment over there is kind of dark, so I wasnt able to notice how scalding hot was the food; and I took a big bite because I was very hungry! I complained to my waitress and she just said she would convey the message to the chef. Lastly and since I wasnt able to finish my meal, I decided to order a dessert because I saw the waiters carrying trays of desserts that looked appetizing. Instead, another person other than my waitress gave me the check to pay; that made me feel like they didnt care for my patronage. When my waitress approached me I asked her why she sent the check and her answer was because "she thought I was done eating. I dont recall mentioning to her anything about being finished and neither had she ever asked me if I wanted dessert. In short: Ill never go back to El Rancho Grande for lunch or dinner, neither will I recommend anyone to go there . The service and the food arent that good. Besides, I’m curious to know why the entire staff and the owners of El Rancho Grande, a Mexican restaurant are Colombians. There could be many reasons of course. I like Colombians very much as well as their delicious dishes in fine restaurants all over Miami which I often visit. ”The cobbler should stick to his last!” (¡Zapatero a tu zapato)!

Shame, shame, shame.

The customer service at this place is awful! Eaten here two times before. The prices are unreasonable considering they serve simple home style Mexican food but continued to go because it was convienently located and rather tasty. Third time we went, when we tried to get a table for 6 people inside at 9:00pm they said they were starting to close the inside dining room and could only seat our party outside. When I asked why considering they dont close until 10:00pm, the host answered in a very condescending and rude manner that they wanted to start cleaning inside and that we could only eat outside. Extremely rude staff. Act like they are doing you a favor by serving you. WILL NEVER RETURN AGAIN! And will make sure no one I know goes either. Maybe when they start seeing their sales slip they will learn to start valuing the customer which bring them revenues.

I wish I could use emojis to give my review. Unfortunately, they DO NOT seem family friendly at all. When we walked up to the hostess she didnt seem to happy and when we asked for a table (please) she told us they didnt allow strollers inside. I didnt really understand, it was just the way she said it aggravated me. They kept talking in their little headpieces to one another and didnt even inform us that they would "try" to accommodate us when there were only 4 tablets taken inside at 8pm on a Friday night so we walked away and when we were getting in our car we noticed the manager who finally came outside, too late . Parents are allowed to go out with their kids and strollers, its NORMAL and allowed everywhere Ive gone. Its NOT normal to turn down customers just because they have a stroller, come on now -_-

Food is ok ..... The closest to Mexican flavor ... Was disappointed at the Guacamole we picked up... It had no flavor.... (Seemed like they forgot to put salt and lemon) if I payed 12 dlls for the guacamole at least put salt and lemon!!! I do think prices are a bit over priced... I have had food there before... And it has been great quality food and service... And prices used to be a bit lower... The last few times we have ordered to pick up.. they have messed up the order (given me something else in stead of what I ordered) This last time we picked up... My husband was out of it.. cause the lady asked for his Drivers license (the last 3 numbers of it, she wrote it down) That kind of bothered us... Cause I have never heard of such a thing....

Not what it used to be. This is the second time that Ive tried to give it another chance and it just disappoints. I always order the same thing: veggie fajitas. This time and last, Ive ordered them as take out, and they forget the actual fajita. Im essentially paying $15 for stir fry veggies that leave much to be desired, considering they are frozen and cooked. You can tell because they are same "blend" as the frozen veggies I see in publix, that never buy. Their prices have gone up, and they skimp on all the sides now. Its a shame, because years ago, this place was THE place to get Mexican food in Kendall. Not anymore.

I have come to this place for the last 3 years, the quality of food is good, although service wise has enormously declined. My latest visit I asked for a little bit of butter for my toasted bread and the server who was unkind from the beginning told me they did not have it , then I went to ask another server in the bar area and when this one was going to fetch it, our server abruptly interrupted and rephrase the denial in a very rude manner. i will miss the food, but I cannot afford this treatment!!
