We have been to many a hibachi restaurant over the years, as the food is typically good and the entertainment value can be as well. I say "can be" because depending on your cook, it can be a top shelf experience or just run of the mill. So when we went into Aoki, we were expecting a typical experience beyond the experience of our table side chef. Yet it exceeded our expectations in virtually every way. The setting was a mixture of traditional oriental and also with a modern flair not typically found in such restaurants. The seating was not crowded to where you felt like a sardine. The waitress was prompt and informative. I was pleasantly surprised to see that aside from the typical Japanese beers in the bottle, they has several on draft. That plus a very pleasant surprise of Kronenbourg on draft, which I have not had for years. The martini from the full liquor bar was also good and prepared just right. Unlike some places that serve you premade and chilled salads, a prep man came out with fresh greens to mix tableside, and had a spinning bowl to mix and prepare the portions. Aside from the flair and personality demonstrated, the various greens with the ginger dressing was very good. I ordered the triple with steak, shrimp, chicken, and some scallops added in. Our chefs name was Carlos, and he not only did the traditional techniques/tricks, but also had some new ones up his sleeve. Watching him with his utensils and bowl distribution was akin to watching Tom Cruise in Cocktail. He had an interactive personality that our entire table enjoyed. Id rate him in the top 5 out of all the hibachi chefs we have ever had, which is high praise. The vegetables were more generous than what the Samurai offers, with sweet potatoes and sprouts added in among the zucchini and onions. The rice is also a mixture of three different types, white, brown and wild to give is a unique taste with different textures. The meats were of high quality, prepared as ordered. Everything was staggered, but close enough together to where part of your meal was not getting cold waiting for the rest of the food. I made a point to speak with the manager Junya, and he was very attentive and interested to know how everything was. We enjoyed the service, food, drinks, and atmosphere. Overall I could not have been more pleased with our experience. We look forward to going back again in the very near future.

Ever heard the phrase "its not what you say, but how you say it?" Well, this was the deal breaker today. Its my birthday and we chose to have lunch st Aoki. The hostess, Maria, was less than happy to greet us or lead us to our table. We arrived and took our seats next to each other, as we wished to remain together in celebration of my birthday. Five minutes later, she walks up with another party of 4 and asks us to move (no longer next to each other) so she can seat the other party. We expressed that we wished to remain seated as we were, to which she rolled her eyes. The other guests gladly said not to worry, that there were plenty of open tables and literally said they understood. We were offended by the Marias tone and attitude and let her know, at which time she became defensive and said they did not have enough tables open and needed to squeeze them in. The place was 3/4 EMPTY. It was lunch time on a Wednesday. What a flake. We decided to take our business elsewhere needless to say, but be warned: their customers are the least of their worries. With attitudes like Marias, its no wonder this place is doing so poorly. Do yourself a favor and go to Benihana. They have manners and integrity. This was our first time at this restaurant and clearly our last.

I dont know why everyone else has written such terrible reviews, but my wife and I decided to stop by after we shopped for a gift for a coming birthday. We read the reviews and were hesitant because of so many people saying bad service, but I didnt want to drive anywhere else and we decided to go. I am very glad we did, the firecracker shrimp tempura was amazingly well balanced with heat and sweet, their house Inaka Fried Rice was amazing as well. My steak and shrimp combo was the best I have had in south florida yet and My wife, who never eats all her food anywhere, finished her Fire Dragon Roll within 2 minutes of reaching the table. We were incredibly well attended regardless of what others have said on here. Perhaps others expectations is for your server to hover over your table and serve you like you are the only table they have to turn over, this place was amazing and If I could rate them many times over to turn around these terrible reviews I would. My advice, do not take my word for it, or any others. Go for yourself and make up your own mind, if we would have gone by these reviews we would have missed out on this amazing place we will now frequent.

dont EVER order the NY strip because it isnt even a strip.. its tiny pieces of frozen steak mixed into the main course of sauteed onions. yay paying $24 for a plate of mushry soggy rice and onions! (o and like 3 bite of frozen steak!). also, personally tried the sushi which was overly spicy, saucy, and made me sick the next morning. Took 30 minutes to get a diet coke with no one else in the restaurant. sausage appetizer was GROSS as well, and i can eat almost any style sausage but it was like cartilage mixed with spicy fat. all in all, 0. wont go back and makes me wary of trying other places in dadeland if this one is so bad and allowed to stay.

Overpriced for their portions. I came here to enjoy a late lunch and instead of ordering the lunch specials, we went with the dinner entree. The rest of the table ordered lunch specials. We all got served the same amount. So Im not sure why were paying extra for that. The chefs try to speak with an oriental accent and thats just plain wrong. If you are not from Asia, do not mock their accent just because your restaurant is "asian" inspired. If you want your food to be authentic, hire authentic. Food flavor was decent, rice needed salt. Overall bad, would not come again.

Delicious. The atmosphere is great, as if walking through an outside temple in Japan but with the advantages of AC. The service was great as well. The sushis were inventive and delicious, I recommend the Musashi. For my entree I had the aoki donburri which was good, although lacking a bit in flavour when compared the the sushi. To finish the green tea ice cream was delectable. The grill dinning, on the other hand, is affordable and delicious when compared to other similar places. The included miso soup being one of the best in town.

La comida es exelente. El lugar es bello pero el servicio no fue nada equivalente a la calidad del restaurante. Es la segunda ves que visito el restaurante y es una pena que lugar tan bello y con comida tan deliciosa tenga tan pobre servicio.

We decided to go here today around 8:00pm to celebrate an anniversary. The experience was going great up until we started seeing cacaroaches coming from under the table, since the table started getting really hot. Luckly one of us even got to see the roaches since the restaurant is so dark this happened after they had already served the salad and rice. We immediately called the manager and they took care of the bill. We will never go here again. Just a warning there where multiple. It was very disgusting.
