The Rainbow is excellent for catering. They have cooks that are experienced in the art of southern cuisine. I often order southern fried chicken (which comes with complementary rolls) for large gatherings. Its better than any Ive had elsewhere. When I eat in, I do not generally order the buffet, which is designed primarily for working people stopping in for a hot lunch during the week. I do, however, order the buffet on Sundays, when the selection is broader. My particular favorites from the buffet are the cream of mushroom soup and the homemade cornbread, as well as the aforementioned fried chicken! Menu items are mostly classic "diner" selections, such as custom burgers, sandwiches, and meals such as country-fried steak. My personal favorites are a club sandwich with onion rings, or the 8 oz. ribeye steak with all the fixings.

We ordered take out on a Saturday morning. Two simple breakfasts, two eggs over easy, fried potatoes, sausage, cheese grits and toast. The eggs were slimy and under cooked, the sausage was burnt, the cheese grits were regular grits with cheese sprinkled on top and the toast was barely toasted. I can say that this is the worst "Southern Cuisine" breakfast that I have ever had. I really wasnt expecting too much since it is the only sit down breakfast restaurant in Mascotte, but come on this was not even worth one star. I really feel sorry for the truckers who are expecting a good home cooked breakfast on the road, they will be sadly disappointed.

Notice Johnson is the family name and that was a good review. My last visit I ordered a bacon and cheese omelet received ham and cheese...owner was waitress said I ordered it and did nothing bad enough that she did not fix the problem in the first place when I know what I ordered. Everyone else ordered the ham at our table. Clearly her mistake but she wAs not concerned with fixing it. The one I was served the wrong one was burnt on bottom did not eat it and she could care less. There good server came over Tanja and ask what was wrong at that time knowing the other server was an owner so I was over it and will never return.

I gave this place an extra two more visits after my first bad experience and they were terrible every time. I thought maybe they were having a bad day so I tried again. The cooks dont know how to make eggs scrambled hard as every time they were brought out, they were runny. The waitress was quite rude, too, when I asked if I could have my toast heated a little more. The coffee was lukewarm and served with a mug that still had some lipstick on it. I would definitely not recommend coming here at all.

Weve ate there many times before, never had a problem, good service, good food, but my husband and I went there jan. 21, 2017, and had terrible service and waited a long time for food. I could understand the long wait if they were busy, but they werent, there was more empty tables then full tables. And my husband asked for hot sauce when the server brought our food and wanted a refill on his drink, he never got the refill and I had to ask another table if we could use their hot sauce.

Do you like to feel that you are truly welcome at a place to eat? If so, then this is the place for you. The servers are friendly and helpful, and anxious to please. You can eat from a pretty good menu or from their AUCE buffet with Bar-B-Que ribs and fried catfish. They also have a breakfast buffet. You can choose some veggies and/or salad to go with your entree selection. What else do you expect from a family style restaurant? Come on in and make yourself at home.

It is seriously "old-school" type of food. Great service. Has been there since 1966 and maybe at one time it was all home-made but now, it is more bought - brought - cooked. Some items are still made there but not everything. The staff should be more knowledgeable about their food items. It could use a massive makeover and new tables cause the ones they have are always sticky and its not because theyre dirty. I like the food and I like the staff.

The staff at Rainbow Restaurant is nice, but the owner is HORRIBLE!!! He is one of the rudest people I have ever met. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant, and I would urge you to avoid this truck stop as well.

Staff very personable and helpful. Food tasty and fresh. If we are still nearby when wanting breakfast out, we would certainly return. Family atmosphere. Didnt get pie but they gave lots of choices.

The lunch buffet was good. I enjoyed the meatloaf. Greens were tasty. Green beans were a little salty to me. Hubby said they were fine to him. Peach cobbler was tasty. Service was very good.

Here goes-3 glasses of fountain drink soda pop, (mostly ice) and 2 regular thermos refills will cost you approx. 15.00 will never stop there again!!!
