Iama Critic Rating - Carving Station Buffet - 1 star 720 US 1, Lake Park, FL Overall: We are utterly mystified by their good ratings. None of my guests, nor I, thought this place should even be open, much less serving food. If you have no teeth, if you hate spices, if you hate all things savory, If you love to slurp your food through a straw, then this is the place for you! But before you go, please check out our Facebook picture album. This was the worse restaurant during our entire two week we spent in Florida. $10.38 Buffet - 1 star The Carving Station isnt the worse buffet ever, but it is certainly in contention. If you work real hard you can find a few items to tie you over until you can get to a good buffet. I have never worked so hard to get good pictures of buffet food, it took us over an hour to take our five pictures. Various Buffet Items: (ratings vary per item) 1 star - unidentifiable piece of grilled chicken 1 star - bone dry ham 3 stars - sausage with overcooked grilled red bell peppers 1 star - waterlogged carrots 1 star - lifeless cabbage boiled to extinction 1 star - the worse corn beef I have ever tasted 3 star - an unusual ham salad 1 star - horrid coleslaw 3 star - decent chicken salad 2 star - boring macaroni salad Chicken Macaroni Soup: This Carving Station classic soup represents everything that is wrong with the restaurant, because it is just like what my Grandma used to make. Of course my grandma was the worse cook who ever attempted to destroy thanksgiving dinner! The macaroni were so outrageously overcooked they would slither between the tines of your fork, which was better than slimming down your throat. $3 Carrot Cake - 3 stars The saving grace of Carving Station was their desert. But they charged extra for it. We received a meager piece of carrot cake cost for an addition $3. We do give 5 stars for the old timey table place mats with local business advertising on it. Remember when all good Mom and Pops had these local business place mats? The Carving Station still has them, but it is a shame that they are not a good Mom and Pop diner! They are a disgrace to paper place mats everywhere! To see 5 Star Restaurant Reviews entire pictorial review on Facebook. Yeah this place isnt bad. The area where it really wins is value. I paid 10.85 for dinner and i was pretty happy with my experience. The food is a smidge above average, the fact i can eat an assortment of american food and not be disappointed is surprising. The salad bar looked nice and fresh. I tried a little of everything and it wasnt bland but it wasnt amazing. Clean place to eat. The manager looked like an Asian dude, very grumpy on the phone, not friendly in person. It was awkward eating and listening to the cook staff talk the whole time you can hear everything from the back. Nothing derogatory but just awkward. Both times i needed something cut to put on my plate the employees were chatting away, so i waited patiently until i decided to butt in and ask for what i needed. Cake is not part of the buffet (its $3) , it should be its not that great. I paid 3$ out of curiosity the portions for the cake were accurate, unfortunately my chocolate cake was quite dry :( took my waitress too long to bring my water, i was half way done with my first plate before it was brought to the table. Upon paying out the Asian manager inspected my receipt quite cynically, which i felt was very rude. As a rule of thumb i will tip 20% generally in buffet settings, this tip was slightly lower due to my plates being left too long, my drink coming too late and failing to greet me in a timely manner.

This is part of my review for The Reporter, Century Villages Newspaper. This should appear in the October issue: This very clean and cozy place had a wide variety of salads, fruits, veggies, meats and desserts. You can start at the salads, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, potato or pasta salads, work your way through some veggies, and Ribs or pulled pork, fried chicken or chicken cutlets then you reach the Carving Station, manned by someone that expertly carves Whole Turkey, Ham, Corned Beef, and Prime Rib and If you like Leg of Lamb, You will be surprised to find it here at lunch or dinner EVERY DAY! After the meats, there is another veggie station that includes corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, a few gravies and more. For an additional $3.00 you can get various multi-layered cakes, pies, cheesecake and cobblers at the dessert bar. Better deal than Golden Coral, and the food tastes great. Five stars just isnt enough.

Absolutely RUDE manager! Went there for lunch while passing through the area. Food was mediocre at best, desserts are not included in the buffet price. For an extra 3.54 you get hair served in your dessert, I asked to speak to the manager who refused to come to my table, I took the dessert to him after waiting 20 minutes for him to come see me. His attitude was that he couldnt be bothered and told me "I dont know what to tell you we are human hairs fall out while we are cooking" with that he slammed my dish down and took the slice of cheesecake off the bill.....unless you want those kinds of extras in your meals I wouldnt frequent this establishment.

Walked in for breakfast at 10:20 am . We each got 1 plate of food from the buffet and 1 drink. We were told at 1030 breakfast is over and we are pulling the line. We spoke to the Owner and suggested it wouldve been courteous for him to have informed us we only had 10 minutes of breakfast time left. We were charged $9 for one plate . His response was " Its only $9" I responded with I work hard for my money and thats a surprising response from a business owner . He ended the conversation with " Ive made it 40 yrs without your $9 I will make it another 40 !" Absolute shocking response from a local business

If I could do half a star or zero stars I absolutely would. All of the food was seemingly store bought from Publix such as Bushs Baked Beans and microwavable mac and cheese. All the meat was bloody borderline Raw and has been sitting out for hours and hours. Each and every dish is soaking in its own puddle of Grease do to it most likely being frozen. Nothing there is fresh, nothing tastes good and worst of all when I went to get my refund the waitress copped an attitude. Stay away

Wouldnt work with me to do a gift certificate over the phone and chose to argue about minimum size. Website clearly says $20, I requested $25 and they said minimum was $30. In retrospect, the whole thing seemed shady as he wanted me to text his cell phone the address. Hope their food is better than their customer service! Per Website "GIFT CARDS - Any denomination ($20 minimum) with no expiration date. Comes with a presentation card and envelope. "

Spiro the manager sits at the checkout, his staff are so pleasant, they will even carry your plate for you if you are infirm/disabled. Seating is basic but works. The clientele varies from young to old and the food is fresh, well cooked and plentiful. The Prime Rib and Leg of Lamb are two of my favorites and you can eat it until it comes out your ears/ A great place for good wholesome home cooked food.
