Great place open 24hrs, friendly retro atmosphere with decor and music from the 50s and 60s. Food is excellent and feel and taste like "home made". Portions are soooo big Ive never been able to finish my plate. They serve breakfast anytime! Love it!

This place was terrible. The food/price was average at best, which is bad because we just had breakfast which is pretty easy to get average. We went there on a Monday just before lunch. My family waited to be seated per the sign, only to have the cashier/hostess ignore us and then inform us that she was wondering why we were standing there because we could sit wherever we wanted. After that we sat there at an outside table and after 10 minutes someone finally came over to clean it off. After we got passed off for one server to another, she took our order and and in the middle of taking it, looked over at another table and rudely said "Im working on it sir".... Definitely a bad sign. So once the coffee comes and I drink half of it, there was an equal packet that was stuck to the bottom of the inside of my cup! Told the server, kind of acted as if it was not out of the norm..... To sum it up, it kind of feels like you are dropping in at a strangers house, demanding that they cook you food, and then after they indignantly agree, they give you sub par food, then hand you a check and they go off to another room and ignore you....

I wouldnt even give this place one star. They were worse than Tropical Acres. It took us twenty minutes to find paid parking. The menu was great. It had alot of choices at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, the service was terrible. We had to wait over half an hour just to place our order and there were only a few customers. Then it was another 45 minutes before our food arrived. The food was stone cold and my chop steak was cold, but badly burnt. They tried to hide it by covering it with chopped onions and bacon. I was unable to eat the corn on the cob because it was so cold. Nor could my husband eat his Brocoli for the same reason. The waitress placed the check down at the same time as the food and never came back to check on us. The bill had four dinners and two sodas on it. It was 50 dollars. We were overcharged 25 dollars. It took me another 25 minutes to get the bill corrected. She thought we should pay for what we didnt order or recieve. We were hoping to have a pleasant experience. That was not the case. This was the first and last time we will ever go to the Floridian.

Ive been in the service business my entire life. Im a yacht captain and drive a yacht off of 9th ave. Ive gone to the Floridian for the past 17 years for the convenience. I always sit outside and as far away from people as I smoke. This morning, with 3 tables seated (in the entire restaurant), I was ignored 4 times by the same server. After waiting 25 minutes, I went in to let them know I needed a server. I RE-SAT half the distance as the tables outside had left. She says, "we dont serve past the door". (Even though the caddies were set all the way to the end). She made me move for the first time in 17 years. I decided that convenience, is only plausible until it becomes inconvenient. I wont return... The food is ok for the most part... Service is generally decent. Bottom line? Theres a ton of places I cab grab a bite for breakfast... I dont need the Floridian. This is a landmark restaurant and I wouldnt say dont go... I just hope your server isnt lazy and rude.

We came here because we wanted diner food and we wanted to try a different place. I ordered the turkey sausage, 2 eggs, home potatoes and biscuit. It was $10.99, it was not worth it. The potatoes were icy cold, the sausage didnt taste like turkey sausage, the eggs were cold, the biscuit tasted good like Pillsbury frozen biscuit. We ordered water and it tasted like tap water from very old pipes. Another person from our table had breakfast, she was not happy, I think she said yuck twice. My husband had Philly cheese steak sandwich, it didnt have green peppers and the onions it had was such a small amount we had to ask the waiter if there was onions in it. The 4th person in our group had the patty melt, she was not impressed, she said the fries were ok. Also when u order a burger or sandwich fries are not included, they charge you additional for fries. Its too expensive, food is not worth it.

I know this place since long before Google Earth. Designed to look and be simple to the eye but with excellent food, service, comfort and at reasonable cost for it all. I tried various dining options along Las olas BLVD, but chose The Floridian of them all to be my place to eat. Separate areas for smokers and non smokers, for smokers, like me, who enjoy a meal more if smoking comes with it, it is (besides the food, service and comfort) a huge advantage too. In short, may be I am not a famous restaurants critic, but The Floridian gave me a nice, cosy, friendly environment and excellent food, for as long as I stayd in Ft. Lauderdale and I am not even from the U.S. . I hope it will stay there and continue being the way it is.

I was not entirely impressed by my meal or the initial service. I walked in and kind of wandered around for a bit before anyone asked me if I needed assistance. I got the steak Benedict with home fries and biscuits and gravy. Maybe my tastes arent right for this place. The gravy was seasoned heavily with salt and pepper I didnt get any other flavors than that. The biscuits were nothing special. Not sure what cut of steak was used but there was no sear or seasoning on it but plenty of unrendered fat. The hollandaise was broken and salty. The English muffin was toasted well and the eggs were excellently poached. I also had a slice of key lime pie it was on the better side but not overly amazing, the crust failed the pie.

I visited The Floridian on January 4, 2017. I was unhappy with my meal and I called afterwards to complain. First I spoke to Lavergne who listened patiently and then the owner called me back. He listened intently as I voiced my feelings. He was not defensive and absolutely gracious. He only cared about my dining experience even though he has been running The Floridian for 39 years..He genuinely cared about my complaints and I believe he absolutely is vitally concerned with the dining experience all of his huge customer base experiences with each meal. The conversation was so mutually enjoyable that I felt I had made a new friend when we hung up. Sometimes communication is the best recipe. Ill be back.
