We went in rather early, around 5pm on a Saturday evening. Just a little hole in the wall place within walking distance to home. The place was empty, with just two take out order pick ups. What got me first, and almost made us walk out, was the smell. I think they may have a sewer trap that needs cleaning out, because that smell permeated the place. The girl at the counter was so vivacious and up beat about the food, that we stayed. The chicken was good, but it had been made long before we got there (possibly a day). The sides of coleslaw and plantains were good. The place was clean, but I didnt like that the bill made it so I pretty much had to tip 15% or 18% or higher, when I ordered the meal at a counter and got my drink from chest on the wall and took it to my table? The girl walked 10 feet to my table, put down the food....and received a 15% tip. No drink refills, not even an asking if everything was ok...geesh, I dont even know if she cleared away the plastic dishes after we left. I will give it another try, because it is so close and I like Latin American food, but the 1st visit was not promising.

The food is carefully and consistently prepared using high quality ingredients and the owners and staff are very friendly. My favorite dish is the Primavera Salad and I usually get it with the black beans and quinoa (a very nutritious grain often used in South America). For fun, Ill add the fried yucca or maybe some plaintains, which are really excellent at Pico Rojo. If you like Sangria, theirs is home-made and probably some of the best I have ever tasted. We continually talk about this place because its such a clean atmosphere, the food so tasty and the owners are right there with you, making sure youre happy with everything. Its the kind of place you dont come across to often these days, I must say, so it really stands out.

We have been to Pico Rojo many times. Our neighbors a couple of homes over are the owners of the establishment and they are the nicest people you will ever meet. Either Ish or Monica (or their daughter Isabel) are almost always there to welcome you to their restaurant. The food is always prepared fresh that day. It is all natural and about the healthiest food you can find. My family and I have not had a single bad item on the menu. And if you get the fried cheese there and like it, you can thank me. They almost made the horrible mistake of not offering it, but I threw such a fit, that they agreed to put it on. You cant go wrong at Pico Rojo!!!!

I walked in to Pico today for the first time at exactly 9pm, as I walk in I notice a table of about 8 to 10 people having dinner, as I approach the counter a girl comes out and says "are you ready to order?" no greeting whatsoever. A guy comes out of the kitchen and says " you have to order to go" I said why? He says "were closing" I said: youre open, you want me to order but not sit down? Nevermind thanks anyways... As Im walking out, he says you can go ahead and sitdown, these people still have to finish their dinner.... Terrible first impression, please understand and learn the concept of customer service, the place is open till 9:30.

If I could rate this restaurant zero stars, then I absolutely would. The portions are extremely stingy and the food is terribly overpriced for what you receive. They trick you into paying a tip when you arent receiving any kind of service whatsoever; no refills on water, and you have to bring the food to your own table and clean up after yourself. This place is a complete rip-off, I would never come back here again or recommend it to anyone. Im surprised its still open and rated as high as it is, such a joke.

FANTASTIC PLACE TO EAT!! My 16 year old is very fussy and she always asks to come here. The food is fantastic the service is above and beyond what you would expect. You will not be disappointed!! I almost hate to give it a good rating because once you find out about this little known secret I will not be able to get a table. They are so particular about their food and the freshness it makes me comfortable that I am being served the very best they have to offer. Love it, love them!!!

I love this restaurant and the owners are wonderful people. Monica shaves her asparagus which makes the stalks very tender and delicious. Many high end restaurants dont do this. I have been eating here for 8 years now and I have never had a bad meal...it is always great. I just wish my office was closer because Id be there everyday. I have introduced so many people to this restaurant over the years and they love it and all have brought their friends and families back.

What a hidden gem! Walking into Pico Rojo, one would never expect the exceptional food that awaits. Simple dishes like roasted chicken, white rice and black beans...prepared expertly with just olive oil and sea salt . Fresh greens salad, with roast chicken slices and roasted red peppers...simple food done well. My family of four ate well, and kept it healthy...the kids cleaned their plates! Oh, and dont miss out on the flan!

Hands down, this is the best place to eat. The chicken is always juicy, tender, and the skin is always crispy. Their sides are to die for! My favorites are the fried plantains and the yuca fries. They have wonderful salads, sandwiches, and desserts. The owners and staff are wonderful! Im a broke student and whenever I can afford a meal out, this is definitely where I go.

I love the food!!! The chicken is so natural and their seasoning is delicious. Everything is amazing there. The servers are very kind. I used to go there all the time and servers remembered me and gave me extra sauce because I always wanted extra sauce. Their Pico Rojo sauce is to die for. Love this place with all my heart!!

I love this place. One of my favorite lunch spots. The quality and freshness of the food is amazing for the price. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. You can tell they really have a passion for good food - especially the owner. The prices are great and the food is wonderful. I like to go here at least once a week.

I feel robbed. The place is great... However, the price of the sandwich I ordered dont match what youre getting. $8 for a little bit of chicken in it on a white Cuban bread was too much. Also, beer was super expensive. I feel youre paying more for the atmosphere... Which is nice.
