6 months ago, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I was told I had to change my lifestyle, especially in the area of food. I was eating too much red meat, eating too many starches and too much sugar in processed foods. Quite by coincidence, I saw the sign for Deeya and decided to try their lunch buffet. It was like heaven answered my prayers as to what I could eat while addressing the Diabetes! I was never a big vegetable eater, but the spices and herbs used by the staff at Deeya are wonderful and make the vegetables explode with flavor. The owner explained that they use very little salt and sugar because they use the spices instead. Just what a recovering diabetic is looking for! Plus, the flavor is out of this world to someone who used to be a "meat and potatoes ONLY" kind of guy. Its helped me enormously to be able to eat food that fills me and nourishes me without killing me. Ive found that this kind of food helps with digestion and is far more efficient and healthy than the processed junk food and fast food Ive eaten in the past. With far LESS sodium (that I dont even miss!). I eat here twice a week now (at lunch) and thats only because I cant afford to eat here everyday. If I could, I WOULD. Not only do I look forward to the flavor of Indian food, I have found it is very healthy. I just went for my 1st checkup since being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes 6 months ago and I discovered Ive lost 35 pounds. Even better, I have not conciously dieted other than limiting my intake of breads, potatoes and rice along with being careful to avoid processed foods laden in sugar. Deeyas buffet lets me eat wonderful food while addressing all of the above. Im not saying my success (so far) is ALL due to Deeyas, but their food has played a big part in my "reconstruction." Im watching what I eat, and making sure WHAT I eat is the best and most nourishing food I can get. And Deeyas plays a big part of this. Im very grateful to have made this discovery when I did. I recommend this restaurant very highly. Even if you are not dealing with health issues, you will love the flavors that you will find at Deeyas.

My family and I wanted to go out for dinner one Friday night about two weeks ago, and I was in the mood for Indian food. We decided to go to Deeya Indian Cuisine in Tri-City Plaza. We entered the restaurant, and there were two other families dining that night. The waiter seated us in their back room. We thought, "Not bad, we get a quiet, private room." The waiter is relatively quiet, gives us menus and disappears. About ten minutes go by and the waiter comes back and takes our drink orders. In the middle of taking our drink orders, the phone rings and he prioritizes answering the phone call. He spends about two minutes taking the take-out order, then comes back and finishes our drink orders. Well, after that, were sitting there waiting for at least 20 minutes, with the waiter peeking in and looking at us every couple minutes. Tired of the long wait, we flag down a waitress and ask about our drink orders. The waitress is very short with us and tells us theyll be out in a minute. Five minutes later, we decide that enough is enough and left the restaurant. Only as were walking out, the waiter comes back with our drinks. We tell him that the service was horrible and there was no reason we should have had to wait over a half-hour just to get drinks; we hadnt even ordered our food. The waiter seemed indifferent and simply said, "Sorry." I have never had a worse restaurant experience, and would advise anyone to steer clear of Deeya Indian Cuisine. There are many other, much better Indian restaurants in the area where the waiters will actually do their job.

***** Cozy, warm and inviting atmosphere! Small front dining and nice larger area in the back. But it is all about the food! It is outstanding, delightful and every bite is an explosion of flavors and spices to savor. The food is prepared fresh daily, with time and love. I have been there four times this week alone. I decided to try the luncheon buffet today. A lovey variety of many Indian dishes from savory to spicy. Pricing is reasonable and the service is great. You can take as long or as little of time you wish with your meal. Franklin, the server is such a gentleman and works so hard to please each person who walks through the door. The breads are incredible and authentic with so many varieties. The deserts....AMAZING!!!!!! I told the owner I wanted to live there I love it so much. I am here 6 months out of the year and want to take them back to Pittsburgh with me during the summer months. I can not say enough good things about the resturant! LOVE.....LOVE....LOVE Dont forget to try some of the deserts and amazing specialty drinks! Love you guys. Mary Jane

This place has been going downhill since they moved out of the Tri-City Plaza. Gave them a couple of chances, each one being more disappointing than the last. Just went in for Sunday afternoon lunch buffet at 1:00 p.m., which they $12.99 for, to be greeted by a couple of moths next to the menu. No biggie but not a good sign. Then I was attended to by the waiter who served me Luke Warm Water with no ice. At this point I looked around and realized why they havent been pulling in the crowd they use to. I ignored it and stood up to see what was available to eat. I was astonished to find nothing but chicken, chicken, chicken, a couple a vegetarian dishes and their usual appetizer setup. Wha is this?! No more Goat/Fish dishes on the weekend? How far ye have fallen. I then proceeded to stir some of the dishes that ended up being somewhat of a thick paste to slowly put down everything and make my way to the exit before I made a dire mistake. I think its pretty safe to say this place is no longer on the list of restaurants I go to anymore.

I visited for a lunch buffet today and I must say I hated the food. It was just ok, but the outstanding was their Dal. It was the worst ever dal one could eat anywhere. You can go to a very ordinary / average restaurant in India and get a much better Dal. Its the simplest of things to cook in the Indian cuisine, and being an Indian myself I can tell very easily. The reason Im so disappointed is that it was a Saturday afternoon lunch and I presumed the food will be fresh and cooked for the lunch today. Anybody could see the Dal and know it wasnt ready. I wonder how they even put it out there. I found some dirt in their chicken tandoori. It grosses me out. The only items that were good were their Gobi Manchurian, Vada, mango pudding and their Peas pulao. Needless to say I will never visit again. I was offered a 10% discount coupon for my next visit. The staff is good.

My Husband and I have lived in the Clearwater area for a year and a half now, and have been looking for good Indian restaurants, literally everywhere around the Tampa Bay area. Needless to say we have been disappointed every time....until now. We were treated with so much kindness and enthusiasm and EVERYTHING we ordered was so good, silence ensued at our table. There are many options for every pallet. We usually like southern Indian food the best, since we are vegetarian, but were so surprised at all the delicious options. Anyway ALL vegetarians should go here as well as meat eaters, and PLEASE order the mixed vegetable pakora, it will change your life!
