Ate here tonight for the first time. Ive been watching them build the place over the last two months. 1st impression is always crucial and this place is clean, pretty and has attentive staff. Was slow, but I came for dinner alone at 4:45 on a Monday. The place had been open for about 15 minutes. The Menu is extensive. LOADS upon loads of different rolls/combos. I had there Sonomono salad (no lettuce), This is a cucumber, seafood salad done with a tangy white vinegar dressing. There was more seafood in the salad than most places. Crab, Octopus, Shrimp (even removed the tail!) and a great assortment of sliced vegetables. Definitely a great way to start a meal. I always judge a Sushi place 4 star UNLESS the carry one of the best items out there. TORO (fatty Tuna). At Kens, you wont find it on the menu, and its not always available.(market price) But they have it! I ordered the Toro Nigiri style. The pieces that arrived were exceptional. 3 beautiful square blocks of Tuna about the size of my thumb. These pieces melted on my tongue... Finally, I had a California roll to top it all off. For $5, this was a great roll. Big in size and taste. My Dinner was a whole $18. Hope to see ya there!

This is a very nice but small establishment tucked away in a little strip mall on Gulf to Bay Blvd. The Mall has a traffic light, making it easy to get in and out if. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation, good to know that reservations are accepted. Someone was waiting at the bar for a take out order so we also noted this fact. The tables are all set with very cute koi fish chopstick rests. There were 2 sushi chefs busy at the sushi bar, 2 servers and other kitchen staff that we observed during our time there. Inspite of being well staffed, we found the service to be slow. Menus werent offered when we were seated, the food was slow to come and because we were trying the place for the first time, ordered small portions of shashimi thinking we would order more after deciding which was the best. We also ordered glasses of wine and water. After the wine, water and food was long gone, we had to ask another wait staff for our server before getting more food and drinking. The restaurant wasnt full and we were puzzled by the lack of attention. The food and wine were very good but I dont think we will go out of our way to visit again soon

Went there for a second time last night. We had a great experience the first time. Yesterday was an about face in level of service. Our waitress served us warm wine that tasted like dishwater (we asked for a freshly opened glass of red) she wrote down our two separate orders and brought us everything on one plate-Im vegan but my date was a meat eater. The waitress never brought our salads out until we inquired about them when she returned with the newly plated dishes...she then neglected to bring us the customary small dipping side plates for the sushi. I had to get up and ask the petite waitress with glasses (great server) for them. I never stiff any server because i know what its like to work tables but she definitely did not deserve any tip. The food is good as always but last nights service was horrible.

Best Sushi restaurant in Pinellas and Hillsborough County. Better then Hooks, better then Soho Sushi. My favorite is the Rock-n-Roll, and Kens Sandwich (a unique roll that Ken created and there is no other like it) The Ikura is soaked in Saki, deliciouse! The real treat is the large oysters with Uni and his special trimmings on top. The staff is wonderfull and Ken and his Sushi Chefs are really nice guys. if you go during rush hour remember there are only two sushi chefs to make everyones food so expect to wait a little longer then if you go at an off time, however, it is worth the wait. His Chai Tea is out of control deliciouse and big so you really feel like your getting your moneys worth.

Having lived in Seattle for many years and also going to Vegas many times a year we LOVE sushi. We were very worried that there would be no great sushi restaurants in Clearwater and were just thrilled with Kens Sushi. It was actually as good or better than anything we have tasted in Seattle or Vegas and much cheaper plus beautiful. The chefs are friendly and so is the wait staff. Definitely worth the trouble to find it...across the street from Hooters in a little strip mall. WHAT A FIND!!!!

Amazing sushi. I ordered the vegetable roll and customized it to my liking, which is rarely done in sushi restaurants (most places I go refuse to allow me to customize my sushi roll). Ken Sushi is clean modern and a peaceful place to enjoy a late lunch . Just one more time.... My vegetable roll was DELICIOUS . $9 for two vegetable rolls. Really good prices. I loved my waitress too she was so nice and considerate. Very professional Parking is easy and convenient. Wheel chair accessible.

AUTHENTIC, cozy, and friendly. Whenever I try a new sushi place I look for authenticity first. Im an admitted sushi snob when it comes to getting proper sushi rice, properly prepared nigiri (wasabi under the fish), and having every piece cut to order. This place hits these marks. They also had uni and toro, which I love. Its a small, cozy restaurant and the service is good. I sat at the sushi bar for lunch and Ken was very friendly. I highly recommend!

The sushi was good. They didnt have quite the selection I was expecting. They didnt have many "special" rolls. The rolls we did get were quite good, however took too long to get. This is a small restaurant, only 10-15 tables. It took us about 30 minutes to receive our sushi. When we finally did get our sushi we realized it was the wrong order. Very disappointed as the other reviews were quite good. Unfortunately I will most likely not return.

Waitress rushed me a bit when I went to have lunch on my own. It was my first time there and needed to read over the menu more. I just felt rushed most of the time. maybe because it slow and she had nothing else to do. Everything was displayed very beautifully. The Garlic Tuna roll was good, spicy, but tasty! The white fish in the sashimi combo tasted a bit fishy, but maybe Im just not used to eating that kind raw. House salad was yummy too.

All the sushi rolls we had were very enjoyable. I especially liked the protein roll. Chef Ken makes very clean and natural tasting sushi. He does a little fusion, while mainly sticking to classic sushi. He doesnt drown the sushi rolls with MSG sugar sauces to mask the fish, which I must admit that sometimes I like (McSushi). If you want clean, natural sushi, go to Kens. If you want McSushi, there are other places in town.
