First, was told that we could have either a frozen margarita or a golden one, but not a regular one. When we inquired as to how this could be possible, we were informed by our less than gracious server that there was no more tequila. All they had was in the mixed batches. Seems rather odd for a Mexican diner. Second, once our food was unceremoniously dropped at our table, this same server, (and here I certainly use the word w/irony) never reappaeared until our dinner was over and I stood up and essentially blocked her path to ask for our check. I also inquired as to why there was no specific side on the one the dishes, to which she replied: "Were out." I then asked why she had not bothered to stop back at our table since "delivering" our meals. She walked away, returned and semi-tossed the take-out carton to my spouse and left the check. I then went to the register and asked to speak to either a manager or the owner and was advised that neither was ont he premises, My spouse and I always, and I mean always, tip 20%. We left nothing and have no intention of ever returning to what was at one time a "fun destination."

As usual, after my tennis teams match nearby, we decided to go out to celebrate at our (former) favorite Mexican restaurant. We waited 20 minutes before getting our drink order taken (after asking 2 servers to take the order). It was approx another 20 minutes after our mixed drinks were served that the WATER we ordered was served. In the meantime, other tables come in, are served food, and LEAVE. After an hour, we were served our food. This was also after I approached the "manager" (there was no manager on duty) four times to ask if someone was going to take our order & then to ask when our food would be served. Four of us in the group are area residents who frequent El Tapatio on a regular basis. After insisting upon a DISCOUNT (not a free meal) we were finally told that our meal (not our drinks) would be given a 50% discount, but....we are not ever welcome to come back! HA! Which is fine - Ill be happy to take the business of my multiple tennis teams, friends & Family to La Tolteca or Mazzellas Italian Restaurant. #restaurantsgonebad

Recently the food was pretty good. I ordered the Beef Fajita. There was alot of steak, peppers & onions but the sour cream and lettace and stuff was only a small portion. It still tasted good but I remember a few months ago it tasted better. The waitress was horrible. She started out good brining us chips and menus and gave us our drinks fast and placed our order and then that was it. She never came back. Never recieved a refill until I asked another waitress who check on her table pretty frequently. We saw ur waitress sitting on the other side of the restaurant and seemed to be texting the whole time instead of checking on us. Not to mention we were her only table. And when it was time to pay she stood there watching me take out my money and to see what i was giving her and when i asked for change she dropped all her money on our table and floor. I dont think i will be returning for a few more months. Hopefully the food portions will balance out and this waitress will be gone.

My husband and I tried El Tapatio since it is closer to us then La Tolteca Express in Talleyville, DE, which is our absolute favorite Mexican restaurant (we are there every Wednesday). Although it was a humid day, the first thing I noticed was how sweaty the El Tapatio was inside, so much so, the windows were covered in condensation and the table and seats were sticky. Also, the floors were very dirty, with pieces of chips everywhere. The food was good though, and the margaritas were very good; however, when we went to pay, we noticed we had been over changed several dollars for our drinks. Also, it took forever for the waiter to come get out check, even though we were obviously finished. When my husband spoke to our waiter, he said that the price on the menu was out-dated. We don’t ever plan to go back, even its 15 minutes closer than La Tolteca.

Food is 5 stars IMO. I read that others dont think so but my girlfriend and I had fish tacos and chicken chimichanga. Our particular server is why I can give this more than 3 stars. His name appeared on the bill a Jose. He gave us our drinks and took our order, after a short wait we got our food we then didnt see Jose till we finished. No checking to see if everything was good, no refills. I went to the bar to order my second drink as I had finished mine well before i finished my dinner.

What could be better after a long week of work than a delicious dinner and a frozen margarita? We love the food there, but several Friday nights, somebody forgot to turn on the frozen margarita machine. The owners wife seems to be the main problem, according to several of the talented, but longsuffering waitstaff. We have noticed a marked improvement in service and a calmer atmosphere when the staff are allowed to do their jobs without "help from above".

Weve dined here at least 6 times over the past year and a half and have never been disappointed. Service is usually quick, food is good, they honor my request for no onion. Tonights experience was hardly any different, except we noticed they were understaffed, so it did take a bit longer to get our intial drinks, but the wait staff was excellent and got our food out hot and quickly.

Been coming to this place for fifteen years...and i have to say great food, consistency prepared fresh. Add in friendly service and a great decor....and El Tapatio has been a place filled with great memories for my family and I. I highly recommend the "tacos de carnitas" or "combination fajitas". Margaritas are delicious and for dessert...gotta have the churros or fried ice cream.

Ok so first off it took 40 minutes to get my salad. The salad had brown goop all inside it and the shrimp had not been cooked well enough. The quesadilla had been cold at first, then they went and gave us a soggy one. Then when it was time to pay they did not let us pay with two Groupons. I did not at all enjoy my trip to El Tapatio.

Pretty much the most average Mexican restaurant I can think of. The jalapeño poppers tasted frozen, the entrees were fine if a bit oily, and they nickel and dime you with charges for shredded cheese and extra chips. Not offensively bad by any means but nothing about the food, service, or atmosphere will make you want to come again.

I cant remember having a Mexican dinner that I wanted to forget like this. The server was as poor as it get ,as he slid my food in front of me without a word and walked away I thought wow. My food was terrible it tasted like a delawaren who bought a Mexican cook book and winged it. I dont usually yelp but this was aweful
