We have been to the Back burner several times and always enjoyed the food and service. Our experience on Saturday April 7th was far from the experience we were expecting. The service was very slow taking 15 minutes to get a server to greet us, having to request bread for the table and an over all poor attitude from the server. Not to mention in a half empty restaurant we and more importantly my wife, were stuck in a corner table in the small room by the bar. When I requested a change the hostess flat out denied me. The apps came and the pumpkin mushroom soup was so thick and reduced that both my wife and mother in law barely ate half. I had the stuffed mushrooms after being told they were out of fois gras so there would be not scallop and foi for me (one of the principal reasons I choose this restaurant), how do you run out of foi Obama Saturday night?! Our entrees came out over a half an hour after our apps where cleared. And they all had the tell tale signs of having sat in the window or under a heat lamp for a long time. The plates where scorching hot, the parsnip purée and celery root purée where dried out to the point of being enedible, my sweet breads were very over cooked and rubbery. My wifes kangaroo was done properly but so dry she asked for my glass of water to was it down. Having been a chef and a foodservice sales rep for over 12 years, I know when a restaurant starts to feel like its loosing its touch. Having been embarrassed at selecting the back burner in front of my in laws while we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary, its fair to say we will NEVER return. What a shame, this was one of our favorite local restaurants.

Food is fine but Ive had multiple friends who worked there and were all very mistreated. Employees are asked every week to come in on days they werent scheduled. The owners are old money people who live on nice estates and dont seem to understand how to run a business. The manager at the to-go shop has a SERIOUS attitude problem and is extremely rude, always in a bad mood (to customers). Also when Ive been with a friend almost every time one of our dishes comes out about 15 minutes before the other persons so the timing is completely wrong.

Ive came to this place once before so I feel I should finally give them a review after multiple sitings. As my usual I started with the Caesar salad and a Crab Cake, followed by a Lobster Chowder. Then had their grilled f-range chicken as the main. My friend once had the salmon topped salad, garlic clams and pork loin. We shared the stuffed mushrooms. All was better than expected and nicely done. Their bar serves up nice stiff drinks! Great experience and very cozy. This is a must do, if your looking for a good diner in this town.

Loved it BUT>>>>>>> I do not know where else to post this, there is no e-mail contact, so here goes. While we had an incredible meal, wonderful ambiance, after dropping well over $200 for our meal, the $3 half cup of warm coffee just ruined the entire night. We did not even have a chance to get a refill or complain as once the coffee was served we never saw our server again. We will go back, but will not fall into that trap again. If BB reads this and wants to contact me, we were the table of 4 with the 7:15 reservation.

My wife and friend like the pumpkin soup but thout it wasnt as good as remembered. I thought it was too sweet. My wife wanted to exchange the squash with potatoes or aspagas that came with the crab caked but was refused any changes what-so-ever. She switched to the twin 4 oz. filets which were ordered medium rare and came medium. I ordered the 7 oz. filet with mushrooms all in a pastry crust. I ordered medium rare and it was served well, dry and flakey. We will not return and I wouldnt recommend it again.

Ive had great food at this place, but frustratingly poor service. Yesterday I arrived with 5 friends at 4:30 for happy hour, but all of the bar tables had "reserved" signs on them (no people, just the signs). We were therefore seated in the restaurant. 10 minutes passed before we met our server, and found she would not honor happy hour prices anywhere but the bar area (still nearly empty). Wouldnt bother with a post but this isnt the first time the bar has been fully reserved and empty.

Service was extremely slow, the waitstaff was incompetent. The food was decent but poorly portioned (pretty large burger and skimped on the sides; overly seasoned potato chips and a slice of watermelon?) and the lunch menu lacked options. The decor was weird and everything seemed to clash. The only reason Im giving it 3 stars instead of 2 is because the food was decent enough and it wasnt completely filthy.

I attended a business luncheon at this fine establishment and to my surprise was gifted with a free intimate acoustic performance by Lil Wayne! I did not think he came this far North! At one point I ate a slice of pie. It was okay. Their seared tuna was much better, but it was not in pie form. In conclusion, I stand by my story. I did not put white out on the menu. The Back Burner is fantastic, and not just because its local. Every bite of everything we ordered was delicious. Make sure you try the pumpkin mushroom soup, if its available. The Chilean sea bass with horseradish risotto was also delicious. Great experience.

Food: Very "fancy" food is good. Specialties are great. All other food is terrible and overpriced. Service: Some of the worst service of your life can be found in this place. Atmosphere: High class and warm, but maybe a little snooty.

A regular favorite on our dinner circuit. Several weeknight specials and even 1/2 price bottles of wine as one of the feature nights. We prefer to sit in the lounge, as its a little softer lighting and we light the atmosphere.

Good food and ambiance. We had a group of 20 people and the service and the kitchen were able to keep up with us. Prices are a bit steep.
