I just recently discovered the Vernon Diner and have visited four times now. I will admit that most of the things I have tried on their menu I like, one or two were just okay. (Im anxious to try their breakfasts - I hear their excellent!) But besides good food, there are two reasons that I give the Vernon Diner five stars: The food is made to order and the service is fantastic. Im one of "those" customers. Can you add this, can you take away this, can I have this instead of that...? Never a problem. Today, for example, I wanted to take items found in several different wraps on their menu and combine them into one. They did it, no questions asked, and it was very good! The first time I visited Michelle was my server and I had ordered the chili. I asked if I could add jalapeno peppers, which she happily obliged, but then she came back with a suggestion - why not add chopped onions too? I happily obliged. She knew I wanted hot and spicy and thought the onions would be a good add. She was right. It was very tasty - perfect. I now order my chili with jalapeno peppers and chopped onions each and every time. That leads me to service. Michelle was great. Very friendly. My food was hot (and as I said to order), and perfectly timed. Nothing worse than getting everything back to back, or even at the same time. Since that first visit all of the servers Ive had have been very friendly and accommodating. I also have received excellent service from the hosts. Manny, who seated me today, greeted me with a friendly smile and instead of leading me to a table, asked me where I would like to sit. Evan, who was also there today, and has been on some of my previous visits, is always exceptionally polite and friendly. These two gentlemen, along with all of the servers I have had, are a credit to the Vernon Diner, and have my sincere appreciation and thanks. I would highly recommend the Vernon Diner to anyone looking for good, made-to-order food and high quality service.

My family and I witnessed symbols of hatred; specifically antisemitism. I was raised a Buddhist, but my wifes family is Jewish. My family suffered the Khmer Rouge and wifes family, The Holocaust. We joined my in-laws at Vernon Diner for dinner. We placed our orders and waited. Conversations ensued. Then from the corner of my eye, an older couple walked in. The elderly woman adorned a full SS suit with the recognizable two lightning strike symbols. The older man had a stained white t-shirt with black cargo pants tucked into black combat boots. They both took turns walking by our table to use the restrooms. Pride in their strut and their eyes straight laser-focused. No worries of their blatant symbols of hatred, as if it was okay. I didnt feel okay nor did my wife and her family. Our food arrived. My wife and I didnt even touch our plates. Freedom of speech. Freedom of expression. But freedom of hate? Should I remain silent and be tolerant to intolerance? Time passed and we packed up. Knots in our stomaches and rage in our hearts. A state policewoman came in to pick up food as we left. She and a waiter were having a conversation. I interrupted to ask for a manager. I told him about the couple. He said he knew and he could not do anything about it. The policewoman was not phased. Is this the world we live in? To allow hate to exist? To stand by to equate and liken it to you and I having an opinionated political debate? Its not the same. Im bothered. Are you?

Lecker lecker. Riesige Portionen, sehr sehr freundliches Personal.

I had an interview with the Vernon Diner and When I called back today at the time I was assigned, The lady that works the front desk hung up on my face while I was talking. When I called back and told her I was finishing talking when she rudely hung up on me. I explained to her about the last person telling to call back at this time and she replies; If its not important there is a long line and i dont care why you are calling. Theres no employment for you here.. I simply asked her for her name, which she wouldnt give me.So, I told her I will be contacting her manager.. I will NEVER eat here again and I will be sure to tell my family and friends not to. I dont suggest young teens to work here, Why would the Vernon diner put on cragslist that they are hiring but then treat people horrible? Your suppose to be a friendly place, Your service is looking pretty bad with your snobby employees.

After several very positive experiences at Vernons, tonights was very different. So much do, that I am beginning to see the reasoning behind so many less positive reviews. From the time we placed our order, not more than 2 minutes went by before our food arrived. There is no way in hell that fresh food for 4 people could be prepared that quickly. Food had to have been cooked in advance. I had the fried clams. Actually, I had exactly 11 rubbery and soggy clams on my plate. Very disappointing for the $15.95 price tag. French fries were over cooked and dry. My wife had fish & chips. The fish was dry and over cooked. I expressed my concerns to the manager on duty. He tried to assure me that they cook everything fresh. I am not buying that. He basically blew off my concerns and complaints. So much for good service. We will not likely be back at Vernons. Save your money.

Food was so-so. What is insulting us the nickel and dimming with any swaps or changes. Their potatoes with the breakfast are clearly made with bacon grease. I asked for fries since I can not eat bacon. Then they lien and said no bacon was used, but then I got the truth again next the wanted to upcharge for he fries, knowing I could not eat the original s due to the bacon grease. I asked for a manager who came over to tell me he had to charge me more. I told him "do what you want but if he charge is there I would not be returning" He changed extra anyway and Im done. They have list sight of where they get their business and what customer service means. Its not the money but the principle and the food isnt good enough to make it worth it.

Amazing every time, and the perfect choice for any occasion large or small. Everyone in your party will find multiple choices to try, and whatever you decide on it will not disappoint. Service is good, they are available and willing to accommodate any request. Someone from the family always has the front door to great each person, available throughout the visit, and when you are leaving to make sure your experience was exemplary. There is never anything to complain about. It is a nice clean place for locals or those passing by on i84, and hope it helps those motorists to appreciate what a great state we are!
