This restaurant has great pizza so we decided to try it for dinner for a birthday. The waiter spent more time talking to patrons at the bar than serving us. The food took forever and came out at different times. The pasta primavera was dry and the vegetables tasted like they were boiled in the same water. Primavera vegetables are not supposed to be boiled. Also, the flavor was bland. I had to ask to turn down the music twice because my father, who has a $3,000 hearing aid, couldnt even hear the person next to him. As we were leaving, the manager gave me a dirty look. We had been super polite and patient but that was the last straw. They turned my sisters birthday into a miserable experience. Never going there again.

Food is typical of most "Italian" restaurants in the area that serve what Americans think is real Italian food, i.e. one huge course of pasta with some kind of sauce. If you like that sort of thing then the food is okay but the service is horrible. The restaurant typically has almost no patrons eating in the dining area but there is a steady stream of people picking up take-out food. If the thought being the only person in the restaurant makes you uncomfortable, find a busier place. Eat-in customers definitely take a back seat to take-out customers. Food takes forever to be served, and as another reviewer mentioned, it comes out at different times! Staff is generally inattentive.

The Portofino staff is extremely friendly. The food is always good, both pizzas as well as their dinner entrees. They also serve large portions, definitely providing customers more bang for their buck! My spouse and I dine at Portofinos quite frequently and we have yet to be disappointed. I would strongly recommend them to anyone in the New Fairfield area!

3.5 stars is closer to my rating here, but I had to round up. Very Good Pizza (as good as Brunos) although its a bit of an over priced entree/antipasti menu for what you get. The Pizza and Pasta alone probably makes this the best dinner value in New Fairfield when compared to Candlewood Grill.
