I hardly write reviews but I feel like Im doing this as more of a public service. DO NOT waste your money or time on Margaritas Mexican Restaurant because you will lose your stomach in the process. My husband and I ordered the Combo Fajita Plate which was burnt and had absolutely no taste...except for the beef fajitas which tasted the way the building smelled...old and moldy. We ordered the Cowabunga Nacho for an appetizer and had to shuffle through a pile of lettuce to find a couple of chips with barely any cheese or chicken. The service was terrible. My 2 year old didnt even touch his food and we ordered his favorite grilled chicken and fries. The food was super cold and just plain gross. If you want delicious Mexican food go to TACOS LA ROSA in Willimantic...I promise you wont be sorry. And, believe me I know good Mexican food...I was raised on it my entire life.

So enjoyed the food, ordered fajitas and taco salad, they were all fine. The service was more my issue. We went New Years Eve, got there later, not crowded at all. Out of all the tables in the restaurant, they sat our party of four, two couples, in a corner, with a booth on one side, chairs on the other and we asked to move to a more comfortable area and the hostess gave us a look, the kind of look with her arms crossed that made us feel like we were a bother. Then one of the party ordered a cotton candy martini, the glass was half full, and it tasted awful. Not worth the 9.00 at all. Then the waitress forgot a side dish. So all in all, I liked the food, but I think we felt like we were bothering the hostess/waitress instead of them making us feel like we should get what we pay for. Its all about the customer service that can make or break a review.

Let me start. Where do you enter?... All the way upstairs ok that is the bar down one to the uninviting closed door. No one at the hostess station.... Waiting waiting still no one...go to the dish washing area and ask. Hostess comes out and promptly picks up the long ringing phone at which point they hang up. Ooo you need a seat here is a spot right in the middle of a screaming loud family and three other couples who had clearly been there a very long time without food. O by the way the table was dirty, she leaves us there to go back to her spot at the mini bar. Ten minutes later the waiter comes to deposit some chips on the dirty table. O you want it cleaned Ill take the chips and vanish for over ten minutes. We left.

When I go into a Chinese restaurant, I expect a Chinese cook and Chinese workers. Same for Indian, Jamaican, Thai, Italian, and Soul Food Restaurants. Guess what? There were (0) zero Mexican cooks are workers and the food IS NOT AUTHENTIC! Its a cheap imitation. Especially the rice and beans (and those are the common sides that comes with Mexican dishes. But the beans were definitely canned and the rice was box. When I first walked in, I asked the host directly if this is an authentic restaurant. She did a long pause, then said, "yes". Tisk tisk for lying. Anyway, the next day, I went to Puerto Vallarta in Middletown where the the staff is ALL mexican and the food is 100% AUTHENTIC and GREAT!

We had not been to Margaretas in over a year, maybe longer so we were looking forward to a nice Mexican meal that we have had there in the past. We were so disappointed in the service, and the food. The restaurant was not, we waited a long time for our food, almost an hour, and when it came we still did not have utensils. Our server had to come back several times for things forgotten. The food was warm and not very tasty as in the past. When I told a neighbour about our experience she said they do not go to Margaritas because it is not good anymore.

Thoroughly enjoyed Margaritas. My quesadilla with chicken was delicious & substantial (I could only eat half, but as always happens to me at Mexican restaurants, I filled up on chips). The atmosphere was nice, as was the decor, and my classic margaritas were very good. The server was attentive. This lost a star for putting peas in Mexican Rice (why ruin a good thing?) as well as having salsa that tasted like Taco Bell Fire Sauce (no offense, I love Fire Sauce, but thats not where it belongs). I also dont believe it is wheelchair accessible

It used to be the best spot, but honestly I dont know what even happened to this place! Terrible service, orders were wrong (constantly) drinks were being sent back (tasted like juice), chips are stale, waiters/waitresses just sit around talking when theres PAYING CUSTOMERS! I havent been here since March and I thought they actually stepped their game up. Obviously NOT. Im sorry, but paying for terrible service, food and drinks isnt what I had in mind. Good luck to whomever goes and ends up having the same experience!

Most the food is decent, its more tex-mex than anything, the nachos are fantastic. For the price, and one of the only Mexican places in the area, we return on a regular basis. The wait staff are always nice, but the front staff (seems to be a trend in the area) are straight up nasty. Im from California, so Im a bit of a Mexican food snob, if this place was in Cali, I would never go, but its the only way to get a Mexican fix in in the area.

Our server Jenny was greeting us promptly, very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. She was quick, efficient and friendly! I had the Enchiladas Banderosand it was the BEST Mexican Meal I had in a long time since moving to the East Coast. Compliments to Chef Cruz. Everything they make is made from scratch, only the freshest ingredients, my dinner was bursting with flavors. I will return next time we visit Mystic, CT.

We had a party of about 20 people for a reserved group event on 8/13/17 and the staff couldnt have been more accommodating. The service was great the whole night and everyone really enjoyed the food and drinks. Our servers were beyond patient and kind with our, admittedly rowdy, group and we had an incredible time. Will definitely be recommending Margaritas to all our friends and family!

They suck! The service is bad and my family drove an hour to eat there because they told us over the phone that they would have a table ready for us and would save it but when we got there they said we werent on time and didnt give us the table but we were only 3 minutes late . The food is great and we love going but after this we might not go after this experience.

4 stars for the drinks: they are good. The palomas are great. Cheap Pacifico and free chips and salsa make for a great night out with friends. Never order the food. Its...Taco Bell-esque in its representation of Mexican food. Cumin and salt are not the only 2 flavors in Mexican cooking. Then again, its a chain restaurant... but eh, food is disappointing.

The atmosphere is great at this restaurant but the food was substandard. They are very cheap with the ingredients and the manager barely even apologized when our dinner was overcooked and dry. We will not be eating here again. There are plenty of restaurants in downtown Mystic to choose from so I would suggest choosing anywhere else.
