Wow! Definitely a hidden gem just outside of Hartford, CT. You definitely dont want to judge a book by its cover as the outside of this establishment looks like its still stuck in 1970. However, once you get inside, youre introduced to a quaint hometown diner. The back of the menu says it all as they have like 10 different types of Poutine. And wow, is it amazing. I got the meatlovers poutine which was spectacular and came with four different types of meat, cheese curds, and gravy over fries. I decided to go with the large which was ample for me (my wife was able to pick some off as well). The B.E.L.T. (Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, & Tomato) was also very good. The only thing I would recommend is to go toasted with your bread or english muffin because grilled makes the bread a little soggy. For a diner, there hot and iced coffee was also above average. The staff is also very nice and the prices are reasonable. Ill definitely be stopping back in next time Im in the area.

Lives near this place for years and never went because I always forgot about it to be honest. I rarely see any cars in the parking lot which is usually a bad sign. But I had to try poutine asy Canadian friend suggested. It was good, very rich not an everyday eater but was tasty. The rest of the menu was much like any breakfast joint. Had maybe 3-4 really Canadian dishes on there. Only down side is it was a little pricey. Small order of poutine which was probably a cups worth of fries was nearly $7.00. And I couldnt eat all of it because it was so rich. I might come back and try some more stuff on the menu.

How does an order consisting of 3 large poutine ($9.50 each), 1 sm bacon cheese burger ($4.95), and 4 sodas ($1.85 each) add up to $61.05? My husband just made sure it was our order before paying and tipping. Pay attention to addition on the handwritten checks. Service was slow but it was busy. Too bad we were so turned off because the food is very good.

The atmosphere and food are very good I myself run a kitchen as a head chef ,what makes this place so cozy is the decor and the service the owner to the Waitstaff and promptness of the food coming out the kitchen makes it great also the flavor of the food is very good I have came here for 2 years and honestly no restaurant has won me as this place.

First time trying this place and the taste and portions are huge for the price. Everything was delicious and quick. The only negative is they close at 2pm most days so you have to get there early, and it seems like they get pretty packed. Regardless of this since the service is so fast the wait isnt very long and the food is worth it.

Chez Ben Diner serves great Canadian style breakfast and lunch. They serve several styles of poutine from Philly cheese steak to a veggie variant. Its nearly impossible to find anywhere in CT that sells poutine and this place makes it quite well too. The staff is also extremely friendly and the service is excellent!

First time on Poutine. The gravy was to die for. Large portion with enough for 1 & 1/2 meals left-overs. The Canadian curd cheese was very good and plentiful. Plenty of sausage & bacon. The rye toast was good quality. The server was very friendly and efficient. The diner is very clean and has a nice ambiance.

The servers here are fantastic. Every waitress is polite, friendly, and quick. The poutine is delicious and the fries are well seasoned, but if you want to try their best dishes get there for breakfast. Their early bird special is a good discount, and its also a nice place for a morning date or even 1 on 1 meeting

Amazing food. Excellent service. We met the owner who was waiting tables that morning for breakfast. Her recomndations were spot on. The coconut French toast was fantastic!!! Their omelettes are the best in Manchester in my opinion. Definetly worth giving it a try.

The service was lacking although our server was very pleasant. We waited at least 40 minutes for our order while people came in after us were being served. The food was not that good and the family that sat before us ate and left before we got our complete order..

Great place for authentic French Canadian comfort food. You can not go wrong with the Poutine or the Meat Pie. Poutine is the worlds best use of French Fries. The gravy makes anything even better. Prices are very reasonable for the huge portion size.

Great food, service was good, great food!!! Gravy covered glory. Omelettes are fantastic and larger than most standard diners. Unique flavors of French Canadian food are really unique and you will not find another place like it for sure in the US.

Have been eating here for years and its my favorite breakfast place. Good food at reasonable prices served by top not staff. Only wish theyd include gluten free bread on the menu so those of us who cant eat wheat could have toast like others.

There was no wait when we got there, but waited 20 minutes for a menu after getting seated. We had small children, so needless to say, after spending 1.5 hours there I wasnt impressed with the food enough to ever go back.

This was my fiancee and my first time and I have to say we loved every little detail of this place. Everything from the poutine to the conversation with staff about Canada. This place is well worth the 45 minute drive.

Was able to get a French Meat Pie on New Years Day which made me a hero with my family. My 92 year old mother-in-law can no longer make them and Chez Bens pie was perfect for our traditional New Years meal.

Love visiting Chez Ben for breakfast or lunch. Awesome Canadian fare, especially the poutine and meat pies. If you like breakfast, the pancakes are delish. This is a spot I recommend to everyone.

Love this place. Usually a bit of a wait and they only take cash but their breakfast is great, the poutine and tourtiere are great and the service is just as nice as most Canadians are!

Great low-key and inexpensive diner in Manchester. Come for all the Quebecois options - my favorite is the Quebecor omelette. Cheese, mustard and creton - a great way to start the day.

Really good breakfast options, and a very happy and friendly waitress even at 6:30 in the morning. Little pricey though, two breakfast dishes with no sides or coffee cost $18.
