one of the very worst food experiences Ive had in a long long time. Right out of the 80s with this place. My Pane Cotto was COLD and I asked them to just take it off the bill, didnt want it reheated - well the server practically jammed it back to me and plopped it back on the table after it was reheated... this was just the beginning. I thought the oysters a 2bucks a piece was reasonable but server couldnt tell me what kind they were or where they were from... I thought they were bluepoints, she said nantucket bay? still dont know. Lobster bisque had way too much sherry. Im not usually picky but this place just fell short with everything... my friends salmon sofia with lobster had zero lobster. Bill came and pane cotto was on bill then I had to re explain my experience with it to another server because my first server was never to be seen again. seriously... this place gets a zero and I could go on

We had a very bad experience with this restaurant. We had reservation for 5 and they offered us a table right next to the kitchen door which was extremely busy. We asked for a different table immediately and they said no because all tables are reserved. We did not understand how when we reserved the table they did not give us a choice which table and the restaurant at this point was practically empty with plenty of empty tables with 5 chairs. We did not argue however. After that the food was very lousy; the salmon was fishy, seafood risotto mainly had very chewy calamari and the service was very slow. We did not even stay for dessert we went to a nearby coffee house where we had more fun than in this restaurant. We defensively will not return.

While traveling through the area, my family stopped for an evening meal. We were greeted by staff with a less than welcoming attitude. The room where we were seated was so loud we could not hear the waitress when she spoke. She seemed bothered to repeat herself. Food was over priced for the quality. The lobster bisque was very salty. There was little on the menu for those with smaller appetites unless you order a childs portion, but make no mistake it also came with the adult price. The exterior of the building was nice, but we were not there to purchase real estate. We ate at many restaurants on our trip, but this stop was disappointing.

Offensive as f**k. The bald guy at the bar was racist and sexist. Me and my wife went for a long drive and stopped on the way for a quick bite. Although not verbatim, here are some of the things he said during the course of one meal: - All dark skinned people are from Jordan - Women are meant to do menial jobs - Vegetarians cannot drink liquor - Dark skinned people cant afford anything finer than sandwiches Totally killed the mood. The eggplant was okay. Im never going there again.

Whenever I go to Madison to visit my mother(2 or 3 times a month), I make sure we eat at the Cafe. The food is always delicious and we have never had bad service. In fact, Karen, Keith and Roberto are the only servers weve had and they bend over backwards to make sure my mother has a great experience. Even the bartender on Sundays always comes out from behind the bar to shake my hand and see what we need. Its always a great experience for us.

Excellent food, great service. We were in a hurry and we were out with excellent food in 20 minutes! The only thing that really irked me is we were sitting outside and this totally inconsiderate guy came outside to light up his cigarette 2 times. He did not stand near the ash tray on the sidewalk, instead right next to the door. It made me really sick as I am pregnant. They should be on top of that for such a nice restaurant!

Brought my daughter and wife to Cafe Allegre for daughters birthday. Food was extraordinary. The Salmon was perfectly done and the sauce heavenly. All the dinners were out of this world. The staff was very kind and very helpful. It really was an exceptional meal. We loved it!

Needs a facelift - same old place for many many years. My older Aunt who lives in Madison loves the bar. Me, not so much but it is substantially better than the dated dining room
