*WEDDING CAKE SHOPPERS BEWARE* Its hard for me to believe that Im about to write a negative review for Mozzicatos Bakery, but Im so deeply upset and offended by what has happened to my wedding cake that I feel that I have to forewarn other people. Mozzicatos was my familys favorite bakery for over a decade (ever since we moved to central CT) and not a party went by without my family getting a fruit cake from Mozzicatos. So when I was planning my wedding there was no question as to which cake and from where I will be having for my wedding. Even though I had my special day in RI my parents drove the cake all the way from CT. Just as we were about to cut the cake I remember being super excited about the fruit cake my guests and I were about to share. I even made a little speech about the fact that were about to have my favorite cake. As we cut the cake I realized that it wasnt what we ordered. In fact, it was a blah-type of cake with plain white filling. A type of cake one can buy in any supermarket if one doesnt care about dessert... Some of my guests tried it out of politeness, but not a single person had more than a few bites. I ended up having to order desserts from the venue we had our wedding at. A few days later I wrote a very nice email to Mozzicatos explaining what have happened and asking for my parents to be reimbursed, which I thought was more than reasonable considering that if I were a Bridezilla I would probably sue the place for ruining the best day of my life. To make long story short: I got a reply a week later asking for my phone number to resolve the issue. I gave them my phone number. Two weeks passed... No phone call. I wrote another email to the attention of the manager stating that this is no way to treat their long time costumers. Its been two more weeks. No response. I have since found another Italian bakery in the area that has a fruit cake that is just as nice (if not better). I would never be back to Mozzicatos and I want to make sure that something like this never happens to another bride. So if youre ordering a wedding cake make sure you order yours elsewhere.

I was given the wrong flavor cake, when I called to let them know, they were not willing to do anything because they were going by what was written on the slip when unfortunatley a different cake was ordered over the phone. It really upsets me because they were not willing to give me credit because "the cake was already cut into and eaten"...how do you expect someone to return a cake in the middle of a b-day party? We didnt know the inside flavor until it was cut...am I suppose to stop the party to go return it on a Sunday night? After this arguement she was going to give me a 10% discount on my next cake. I cant believe with the amount of money that comes into the bakery (at all locations), that to give credit for a $24 cake is that big of a deal. Any other bakery would have better customer service skills to know if they made a mistake that it should come out of there pocket to keep that costumer. I guess Mozzicatos doesnt care so much about customer service because they know the business will keep coming in. Its just sad because I got my cake with them 7 years ago for my wedding in Hartford and was soo excited that there was a new location in Plainville....I dont think I will be going here anymore...Ill support another local bakery that cares about the satisfaction of their customers. Sometimes good customer service is more important than the quality of the product.

I ordered my wedding cake from Mozzicatos. They came highly recommended! My husband and I went in for our cake tasting. The cakes were very good! I have a picture of what I wanted and the women said thats beautiful, absolutely we can do this. I left the picture with them and even on the order form, she wrote "decorate exactly like attached picture" I spent over $20 on ribbons because they said they needed a lot of it and different sizes because thats what the picture showed! They day of our wedding I saw my cake and I wanted to cry, it was horrible! It was as if they just threw the ribbon on and walked away!! The ribbon was all one size, you can see all the seams and the buttercream was smeared all over the ribbon! I actually had one of my guest ask me if they should put the cake in the refrigerator because it looked like it was melting! It was not melting but because of the way the ribbon was placed it appeared to be! My cake pictures were ruined because this Bakery allowed one of their employees to design my cake poorly! How can a highly recommendable bakery allow something so awful happen and think that its Okay! Well its not and I will NEVER recommend Mozzicatos to anyone!!!!!!

Their cookies and macaroons and stuff are very good but they have lots of knats in their display cases .. I mentioned it several times and they said nothing .. Their cakes and treats sit out for days and weeks at a time .. I got a cheesecake and on the bottom of it i found mold i went two days in a row and realized that they hadnt baked or made anything new everything was still in the same place and order as the day before .. Thats gross . cookies i can understand but cakes and things God knows how long theyve sat there if there was mold on the bottom . Im disgusted. Knats in their cake slices and cookies gross .. I dont not recommend you go here

Delicious! The list of baked goods is expansive. We tried the carrot cake, chocolate mouse cake, chocolate rum balls and all were very tasty. Cant wait to go back and try a new selection. The service was excellent. The young lady behind the counter was cheerful and very knowledgeable about the many selections . They also have a caffe next door serving a limited selection of their baked goods as well as gelato and coffee/espresso beverages. Surprisingly, they even have a full bar. The gentleman behind the counter was welcoming and our lattes were tasty. We will definitely be back!

The bakery is simply the best. The arancini are heavenly, and the same for everything else Ive tried. Its a good thing I dont live closer, or Id be in much worse shape :) It can get busy, so a little bit of patience and understanding go a long way. I suspect that some of the poor ratings are due to people who tend to be more demanding and less empathetic. Be the customer youd like to serve, and I guarantee theyll be the server youd like to have.

My neighbor took me here and we enjoyed the great expresso and amaretto to accompany fresh delectable pastries. To finish it off with a cool mint chocolate chip and vanilla mix gellato. Served by Joe who is very friendly. We returned several times and always received the same hospitality. Then off to buy cookies, bread, pizza, and those special cones. What a memorable place to visit!
