Running a good Taco Bell is all about prioritization. Should one focus on efficiency at the expense of precision? Should one emphasize cleanliness and forego the congenial spirit that the public has come to expect from mass-market restaurants? The line is thin; the balance delicate. A truly excellent Taco Bell will sweep its customers through, machine-like, yet without making them feel rushed. Service should be prompt, food should be fresh, and prices should be at or below expectations. The Hamden Taco Bell is roughly at the bar. It opened only a few years ago, and at the beginning there was a fair amount of confusion over the principles of both staffing and food preparation. Employees were sometimes inattentive and the chalupas were often served dry or poorly proportioned in terms of ingredients. There has since been immense turnover in staff and much progress has been made, although there is room for improvement in consistency. All credit is due to the impeccable state of the restaurant facilities--tables are always available and clean, floors are consistently swept, and the restrooms are always usable if not pristine. I think this particular architectural model of restaurant layout--I believe a recent development of the company--is highly conducive to a pleasant Taco Bell experience. Pricing is generally acceptable; perhaps slightly above average for a suburban franchise, but favorably competitive with the many surrounding establishments (McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, etc.). I would also echo the previous reviewers observation at the general dearth of Taco Bell restaurants in the Southern Connecticut area. Surely there is market enough to expand further. But at the days end, I am grateful for this location, and I plan to patronize it regularly as long as I live in the area.

I like Taco Bell. I like soft tacos. I like gorditas. I like the sauces. This Taco Bell is ENORMOUS. Its easily the largest Taco Bell Ive ever seen. And its sparkling clean. The staff does a great job. But its so slow. Its amusingly slow. You order food and then you can do anything you want, because your food will be ready in just over 5 minutes. Granted, theyre swamped (why are there so few Taco Bells in this state?), but 5 minutes for 2 soft tacos is a bit much. They screw up orders on occasion, too, but what can you do.

2 nights in a row, Friday night on my way to work, stopped ordered 1 chips with salsa and a taco supreme, with a side if rice. I get to work no rice. Sat night decided to stop again, I love taco bell, ordered chips with salsa. Extra sour cream and salsa. Let the manager no I didnt get my rice the night b4, she told me she was not working, she cant do anything about it. So I canceled the extra sour cream and salsa. Just got regular order. I get to work no salsa at all. Will always eat taco bell but not from hamden pkaza.

So Its 8:40 and the lobby isnt suppose to close till 10 but she told me I couldnt come in because they where short Staff the lines is wrapped around and not moving and I wanted to go inside but the doors are locked. Completely lost my appetite

Very good service and great food. The management is great! I had a problem with my order when I got home and I called them and Amy, I believe the night manager, fixed it immediately! Great people skills, friendly and eager to help!

This taco bell never opens on time. The sign on the door says it opens at 7am. On 5 separate occasions the place has been empty and locked up well past 7am.
