I went to Scotties and had a bad experience. I took the time to review on yelp. I didnt give just one star either, generously I gave several. Here is the owners response.... Wow! I spoke with both of our employees Firstly ALL we have is frozen custard your comment about having to ASK for it doesnt even make sense. You do need to ask if you want it swirled for some reason as we hand scoop our vanilla, chocolate and flavor of the day which is tradition for real frozen custard. You did not accept the cone. When she presented it to you, you stated you thought is would be swirled. YOU NEVER LICKED it and gave it back to her. When we make mistakes on items we do put it in a dish with a cover and the kids take home the mistakes at the end of the night. Both of my employees do not have the attitude you projected and I dont appreciate your comments about them. Why you felt the need to be dishonest and not even get the facts straight is a real head scratcher. We try very hard to please everyone and work harder than you can imagine to do it. Take your business to McDonalds in the future. No wonder the staff had the attitude they did.

Scotties is AMAZING! We tried them once for their frozen custard, and we cant help coming back over and over! The Scotties Special is by far my favorite sundae anywhere, and any food you order is cooked to order and is absolutely delicious! Their burgers are moist and flavorful, the italian sausage roll pops on your teeth on a crispy buttered bun, and the fish and chips meal is battered and fried to perfection! Scotties prices are incredibly reasonable (~$5 a sandwich, $7.50 a combo) and they have no qualms about giving out free cups of water to cheapies like me. When my son was covered in custard and the napkins werent cutting it, we were even offered the use of a sink inside. The service, the food, the quality, the price, are all AMAZING! I absolutely adore Scotties and I hope to be back many many more times!

The ice cream is delicious however this is the second bad experience Ive had with the staff. When I ordered two scoops of different flavors in the same cup I was informed "You cant do that." The server said that they mix the ice cream using a machine and that she could mix the two flavors together to make one cup of ice cream but could not do the two separate flavors. VERY odd for an ice cream place to not allow you to have two different flavors in one cup. I ended up ordering one flavor and then decided to go back and ask for the second one in another cup, unfortunately I got the same server who gave me a cup that was half the size of the first one...so good ice cream but you have to put up with the bad service to get it.

With great burgers, fries, and more flavors of frozen custard than you can count, Scotties Frozen Custard is one of the best dining establishments the area has to offer. The staff is friendly, the food is made quickly, and there are plenty of picnic tables at which to enjoy your meal. I recommend trying the flavor of the day, whatever it is. Ive yet to be disappointed.

I grew up on some stellar ice cream, between Hallmarks in Old Lyme and UCONN Dairy Bar, but Scottys is the finest frozen confection of all time. Ice cream is just so passe after having this goodness, and the flavor selections have been great. CAnt see how Faith Middleton and the Food Schmooze crowd have missed this one, but they need to get on it soon... S

Food is consistantly good sausage grinders r awesome.scotties dogs too, great service, and i can spend less here for my family to eat than if i eas to go to mcdonalds and food is soooo much better and i am satisfied when i amm done eating, also portions are generous. Better than johnny rockets and five guys..better and less exspensive than harry s place.

Great food, not just the custard. Typical artery-clogging goodness. Where else are you gonna get a deep-fried hot dog around here? Ice cream just doesnt hold a candle to frozen custard, you have to try it if you havent! The owner is an awesome guy as well.

Scotties food is far superior to harrys and the prices are incredibly reasonable. The portions are bountiful and the staff are very friendly. The frozen custard is amazing. I would go more often if it werent for the hours and out-of-the-way location.

My wife and I make sure we go there several times when they are open. They are seasonal and open in the summer. They closing October 1st. They serve frozen custard as well as hamburgers and hot dogs. Everything they have is worth the trip.

The BEST place for a sweet treat, and the staff is always friendly....My family comes here at least once a week! Update: Just had their house made chips with chili and cheese, OMG they are soooo delicious

Frozen custard in over 40 flavors PLUS the flavor of the day AND friendly service with a smile, what could be better? Oh yeah perhaps their giant Oreo Icecream Sandwiches or their awesome eggplant fries...

Good ice cream (frozen custard), very rich in flavor & smooth in texture. Hubby says the foot long hot dog was good, too. Not crowded, plenty of picnic tables, friendly staff. Will go back.
