I do not even know where to start. I took my family and visiting relatives out for a fun evening at Golden Corral, my dads favorite place in his hometown. I have never been so embarrassed and disgusted. I cannot even begin to describe what an awful experience it was. I pay $75 for our meals and it wasnt worth $1. To begin with the store was nasty, and Im not exagerrating, it was disgusting. There was food everywhere, all over the floor, ground into the carpet, every table was dirty and piled with dishes. I complained to the manager and said "so what is dirty?" I couldnt believe it. I pointed out to him that there was food all over the floor, around the bars, tables etc. He never apologized but he did get some people out to pick up trash but there was no way they were going to get it all. There was so much disgusting trash in the floor behind the food bars that employees were stepping over it. It cannot express how bad it was. They had sprayed the floors with water and it was so disgusting I couldnt believe it. All of the food was cold and most of it was empty. There were no rolls, they said they were burnt and it was too late to put more out. I went to the taco bar and there was meat but no shells. I asked for a shell and was told it was too late, they werent putting any more out. There was ice cream all over the floor. The dessert bar smelled like sour ice cream so bad it was rediculous. Not once, did the managers come to me and apologize or anything. I am a General manager in the service business and I was in complete shock. I was so embarrased and angry. I even took pictures until they saw me and followed me around so I stopped. I have been to the golden corral in my dads hometown and it was awesome; something is not right at this one.

DATE OF REVIEW: 5/12/2011 @ 7:30PM At least we didnt die..... To be honest with you $10.39 for dinner and $2 per drink.... uhm.... $12.39 is expensive for the quality of food there. What I had and my thoughts: BBQ Beef peices (dont know what the heck they called it)- ok, but not anything I would go back for more Egg Rolls: WTF! They were dry on the inside! Steamed Baby carrots: Tasted like vinegar Ceasar Salad: Limp lettuce with watered down dressing. Edible but not good Stir Fried Pork: Decent actually Watermelon slice: NO FLAVOR, was like eating pink lettuce Lemon Tartlet: OMFG was it dry..... had a NASTY skin on top from being left out Fudge: Once again.... WTF, tasted like it was made from bacon grease. However my pepsi in a cheap plastic cup was ok! Suprise surprise! Had to wash that crap down somehow! My Partners dinner: Brisket: It was tender but had no taste and was completely grey in color Sausage peices: (maybe keilbasa) tasted a bit like chicken for some reason Fried Chicken: so dry and overcooked it was like eating sawdust- and NO seasoning... it was tasteless Mashed potatoes: Tasted like microwaved potatoes with ZERO flavor. The gravy was like wallpaper paste. He also had the salad..... he describes it the same as I do... see above.... Peanut butter fudge tart: tasted like cheap peanut butter and the chocolate tasted like cheap cake frosting And a brownie: it was ok. he claims he tasted better from a 7-11 convienence store. At least the person who said they were our "server" was actually quite polite. To be honest, the place needs to taste their food BEFORE serving it cause damn..... what else can I say? I had better food from a cafeteria when I was in high school honestly.

I went to dinner here tonight, and was concerned about the previous reviews. It was very busy, about 7 pm Friday evening. There was a line, but the wait was only 15 minutes. After finding a place to sit, I first went to the steak area. The prime rib was ok, nothing special. The horseradish was in a container sitting on the counter, not in a hot plate. The sautéed mushrooms were very good. I sampled quite a few of the dishes, and they were all adequate. The calm chowder obviously came from a can, and because there were no lids in the soup they got really crusty on top. The salad bar looked fresh and was clean, but something didnt sit well on my stomach. I think it was the "bacon" on the salad. The shrimp was a pleasant suprise- the garlic shrimp was perfect, just the right amount of garlic. The fried shrimp was crunchy, and the breading tasty. I had to ask for cocktail sauce, but it was provided quickly. I tried the strawberries dipped in the "cholocate " fountain, a piece of cholocate cake and a brownie. They were all pretty good. The liquid in the fountain was one of those fast hardening shell types. Overall, I was pretty pleased with the food. I used the ladies room twice, and both times it needed attention. Paper towels were thrown onto the floor near the trash, the sink counters needed to be wiped down. Both of the toilets needed cleaning. This was the only area that needed work. The servers are really just busboys, keeping the dining rooms clean keeps them plenty busy. I did see some kids running around unsupervised, but not a lot. I think if you come here in the off hours, it will be a pleasant experience. No signs of any bugs that were mentioned in some other posts.

This buffet does have some problems: (1) The weekend buffet up to 4:00 is the same food as the standard weekday buffet but priced higher, plus the drinks are overpriced. The weekend buffet specials that used to be served all day after 11:00 are served only after 4:00 and the price is even higher. (2) The staff is very poor at keeping the buffet offerings filled. I have frequently had to ask them to replenish key items and then wait until they get around to it. (3) Worst of all is that unsupervised kids run all over the place. Not only are you apt to get run into, they sometimes handle food and then put it back. Kids under 10 are supposed to be accompanied by an adult but no one bothers to enforce it. (4) Food temperatures are not maintained throughout the course of the day. Be careful what you eat. (5) The place can get disgustingly dirty but I think most of it is due to kids slopping and spilling things (okay, and a few adults that are just pigs) and the store being understaffed in peak hours. They need to have a couple of employees do nothing but keep the stations wiped down and the floors cleaned. I notice other people have mentioned cockroaches but Ive never seen any there. Now, all that said, if you get there on a good day before droves of families with kids come in and chaos ensues, they offer some decent things. The baked fish and bourbon chicken are excellent, as are a couple of their specials (lemon salmon, BBQ ribs, prime rib). They also serve lots of veggies and the salad bar is very good. If you can avoid the rush hours it is a pretty good buffet. I prefer it to the Country Buffet as they offer a greater variety.
