Truly horrible customer service... in 50+ years of eating at BBQ joints, this is the only time Ive ever walked out of any restaurant prior to being served. Too bad I cant submit the review with zero stars... I went with my wife and kids to Smoking Daves miserable excuse for a restaurant yesterday (Fathers Day) afternoon. When we arrived I went inside to talk with the host (a teenager that seemed not well suited for his job) and after a short wait, we were seated on the patio. Then the waiting began... We waited about 15 minutes without water or menus, so I went back to the host stand to ask for a server. A server came out, put down some waters and asked if we were ready to order. When I pointed out we didnt have menus, she asked if wed been seated by the host or just seated ourselves, and saying "we have other people waiting and the host was supposed to bring the water and menus." After I told her that, yes, wed been seated by the host, she left... She returned a few minutes later to the edge of the patio (away from us) with the host in tow, having a conversation with him, and pointing toward us. I assume she was attempting to validate her claim that wed seated ourselves, which I could understand would have been annoying, but wasnt what actually happened. Again, the waitress returned to our table and asked if were ready to order. I again pointed out that we had no menus. She proceeded to accuse me of not checking with the host and just seating ourselves, which was absolutely not the case. She had obviously concluded that I was lying to her. She then pointed to a party of three waiting, saying, "weve got other people waiting..." I pointed out that Id watched those people pull into the parking lot after the host seated us... After more argumentative and inflammatory commentary from the waitress, Id had more than enough abysmal customer service. I sure wasnt going to stay and eat at a restaurant where the staff treats customers with disdain (and to be honest, based on the servers crappy attitude, I was a little concerned about how we would have been treated had we stayed.) I know waiting tables can be stressful and people can be demanding. I also know that there are many restaurants in Lyons that dont treat customers like were some sort of inconvenience. Being ignored by staff for 15-20 minutes, then having the wait staff erroneously conclude wed done something "wrong" sure isnt a way to maintain a healthy business. This really was one of the worst attempted dining experiences Ive ever had. And Im telling my friends and neighbors to stay away from smokin daves crappy customer service. And, just on principle, Ill stay away from the Estes Park location too...

My family and I went here after spending a full day at Estes, and were told that it would be an hour-long wait for a party of 6 (five and a toddler in a high chair). There was so little space to wait inside that we had to wait outside for a greater part of that time, and finally, my husband and I went inside to wait. That was after about 30-40 minutes of waiting. After another 20 or so minutes, my husband asked how much longer of a wait it would be for our party, and we were told that there were 4 parties ahead of us. We hear six parties called, and my mother finally joins us (as do my autistic brother and my disabled father), and she repeats the question. She is told that there are four parties OF SIX ahead of us--information that my husband and I were NOT told. After a grand total of close to two hours--double the time we were told--we were told that there was a group that had already eaten and paid, but were still watching a game and they were trying to clear up a table for us, but that they couldnt tell that party to leave. Once we were seated, we were also informed when we tried to order an appetizer that they were out of said item (the Smokin Rings), but we ordered our items and waited. After a decent wait, my fathers, mothers, brothers, husbands, and daughters meals arrived, but we had to wait another few minutes for mine, which was the chicken-fried steak. When my food was delivered at last, it was burnt and inedible. So, we had to return it and wait another several minutes for an acceptable one to be delivered. All in all, I would NOT recommend this location for dinner, unless youre willing to wait for a VERY long time.

I love BBQ and this is some of the BEST Ive ever had!!! My husband and I got there around 6:30-7pm on a Thursday night and the place was packed. We barely found a parking spot. We put our name in and they said it would be 30-40 mins but we got in around the 15 min mark since it was just 2 of us. The server was very friendly. The place is small inside but is very unique and comfortable. My husband got the medium rack of ribs with fries and spiced apples, while I got the 2 meat combo with ribs, pulled pork, potato salad and southern green beans. DELICIOUS!! There are 4 sauces on the table to use but I liked the sweet original one the best. We even bought a jar of it to take home. We like to eat at The Rib House in Boulder and this place beats it hands down! I wish it wasnt so far from Broomfield, but there is a second location in Lyons, right outside Boulder. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!!

Being that its a Sunday and Estes Park is a quiet town, my husband called Smokin Daves to check what time they were open until. The rude hostess who answered the phone told him impatiently that they are open until 7:30. Our "guide book" in our lodge room suggests that we make reservations, so my husband asked if we could do so. The hostess was again very rude and told him they dont take reservations. My husband was mid-way through another question when she said "goodbye," and hung up the phone while he was talking. I could hear her tone, irritation and impatience through the phone. I very very rarely write reviews but this was absolutely disgusting customer service! Glad we didnt spend a cent of our money there. Shame on you and your staff!

I have absolutely no idea why this place has such good ratings. The only good part about our experience there was that the service was prompt. Our waitress wasnt even genuinely friendly, which is ironic because they have a sign that says, "Be nice or get out." All the food is unbelievably overpriced, and we thought that before even receiving it. All the portions were considerably smaller than what we expected or paid for, and the quality was appalling. It was literally appalling. The sauces were nothing to speak of, the place was dirty, and the staff started vacuuming while there was still a handful of tables left! That is rude, unsanitary, and maybe even illegal. Please, if you love food and/or BBQ, never go here.

This is by far the best smoked bbq restaraunt Ive ever eaten at! We didnt even know it existed until we were driving by and decided to stop by on a whim. The service wasnt excellent or over the top. But it was completely fine. We didnt have to wait for anything, he was friendly and he got our order right! We ordered the 3 meat option with 2 sides and the meat was perfectly smoked, juicy, a great smokey flavor. I used the Carolina Mustard (in container on the table) which was not my type at all. So, I used the House sweet bbq and it was so good that I bought a jar to take home! I highly recommend this place!
