Anyone who has lived in Golden undoubtedly has some opinion about Golden City. Long story short: its a really good lunch value, with objectively good service, but the waitresses are known to be sarcastic, silly, impatient and border-line mean. For those of you sick enough to be entertained by all of this: Golden City is your place! The "Golden City Challenge" is a popular endeavor for REAL citizens of Golden: finish your tea before the water comes, finish your water before the soup comes, finish your soup before the meal comes and finish your meal before the check comes. Ive done it twice, and failed dozens more! Its also notable that the health standards here are pretty low. I got food poisoning once and have had several hairs in my meals. Its certainly an experience, with a cult following, and Ill always remember some good times from eating there with buddies from college. BTW: "Golden City" is the Chinese place, and "GCB" is the brewery, Im sick of people who use "Golden City" to refer to "GCB" just stop! Its more syllables and instead of sounding like a local you just sound stupid!

-NEGATIVE 10-Disgusting. I witnessed the old rude woman waitress that never once smiled & was rather rude take leftover rice that is served in the round covered bowls & placed on your table back to the kitchen & dump it back in their rice warmer. Yes it was the warmer or cooker they use & it was NOT THE TRASH. I mentioned that to my wife & she reminded me that this was the second time they did that because she saw it happen during a different visit. I will never return & I will also file a coplaint with the Jeffco health department. Ive cooked & worked in restaurants for 15 years & you DO NOT RETURN FOOD THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN PLACED ON THE TABLE & PLACE THE FOOD BACK IN THE SERVING CONTAINER! IF THEY ARE SO CONCERNED ABOUT PEOPLE NOT FINISHING THEIR RICE THEN MAYBE THEY SHOULDNT SERVE SO MUCH. wATCH WHAT YOU EAT YOU COULD BE EATING SOMEBODY ELSES SALIVA OR SICKNESS.

This is a by-the-numbers Chinese place with low-quality food and worse customer service. I normally only call Golden City when New Panda wont pick up the phone, but I think Im done even doing that. They are often difficult to communicate with, and this last time was the worst yet. The lady I spoke to had a thick accent over broken English, and exacerbated things by pressing buttons on her phone in the middle of sentences. She got angry with me for asking her to repeat herself, and couldnt understand when I tried to explain she was pressing buttons, or much anything else I said. I almost canceled the order after she started yelling. The food arrived smelling funny and tasting worse than usual. After years of living in the area, many of my friends are convinced that this is some kind of front, as a real business wouldnt treat their customers so poorly.

Ive purchased take-out (and delivery) from Golden City Chinese Restaurant for over 5 or 6 years. Ive talked to the same lady who ans. the phone, each time, I believe. Slow down, and just listen a little closer. This is a different culture, remember, youre not ordering a BigMac at McDonalds. The lady does speak very broken English, but she has gone out of her way several times, to go over and above the normal call of duty for me. (I have no problem communicating with her whatsoever, and never have.) Great lunch prices, and the food is delivered to my door, piping hot, and very delicious, good quality food. My neighbors love it, too. We feel fortunate to be close enough to order or go there often.

I was visiting Lakewood/Denver area for business trip and I saw their advertisement in my hotel book. I was surprised why they would advertise in this hotel book which is about 10 miles away. Anyway I decided to drive to Golden city from Lakewood and ordered family dish from the menu. This dish was combination of chicken, beef, shrimp and vegetables. I told them to make it spicy. I was skeptical at first but when I dug into it, boy it was out of this world. Believe me I am a Chinese food lover and very picky. This was good food, the restaurant from outside looked shabby but is quite nice from inside. Service was fast and waitress was courteous.

I have ordered delivery a few times and twice the food came closer to cold than warm or hot, and the lady on the phone is rude and was impatient with me on the phone, because I kept asked her to repeat herself because I couldnt understand her. Despite the fact that the food is cold when I get it, I love the taste. Today I called to order again and they seemed to refuse to answer the phone, then it seemed that they litterally turned off the phone! >:O I called ten times, no answer AT ALL! I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN! AND I SURE WONT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANY ONE!!!

We have been eating here for about 2 years and basically always order the same thing, therefore we know what our bill will be. Last Friday August 25th our bill was $10.00 higher than normal. When I asked why they said it was the taxes. When I asked them to show me how they figure their taxes the woman at the counter tossed a calculator at me and started laughing and saying I must not have gone to a good school because I did not know how to add. Good luck with your bill if you choose to eat their average food, we will never return.

Worst experience Ive had in a while. I just got a Mu Shu Shrimp take out order and the bottom of the paper bag was damp, by the time I got to my car it was soaking wet and when I got in my car it busted all over the floor. I went back inside for a refund and they said they wouldnt since I had already received it. They said they would give me more but... I was unhappy with the 50/50 liquid : noodle ratio in a paper box, and they said they would bring me back more but I needed to leave and they soon and they said they couldnt help me.

We have been ordering delivery from these guys for years...yes, they can be crabby and crusty sometimes, but the food is always hot, delicious and normally super fast. They know us now, so maybe we get better treatment, but weve always been happy with our food. We eat at the restaurant occasionally too and their lunch special is a great deal. Ive never seen any problems with re-using food or anything else. Its not gourmet, but for good quality, cheap chinese takeout, its the best option on the west side of town.

Horrible.Terrible. Soup was OK but the food was just awful and the wait staff member spilled half the food onto the table and just used her hand to put it back on the plates (yuck and gross!) Wanted me to pay full price for all that mess and threatened to call the police. I was dialing the police when they just took the $5 I left for the soup (!) and just walked out of there. Never will go there again. And told people about to go in to eat some place else. Guess the service (or lack of it) speaks for itself.
