This is my second time in the city of Denver in the last 2 years. My brother chose Williams & Graham to celebrate his wifes birthday with a few of our friends. We were a party of 5 and arrived some time shortly after 6pm. We all have our names to the front desk which is located in what appears to be a small library set back in the 1920s. We waited about 10 minutes before the bookshelf in the wall suddenly swung open and we were ushered into a small but beautiful bar steeped in history and full of life. The restaurant is small, about 9 tables plus bar seats. There isnt much if any standing room so get here early and always plan on waiting. Our table was tucked away in an alcove that I can imagine once served mob bosses and dons as they discussed shady business dealings with like minded associates. Dimly lit and surrounded by dark heavy wood, dont expect more than a candles light to be able to read menus or see your food. Just know that what youre ordering are drinks made by people who know more about mixing drinks and creating cocktails than just about anyone else in the entire state. You can order from their extensive cocktail list that is organized by liquor, or you can describe your ideal drink and have one of their bartenders create something via dealers choice. As for food, the menu is rather advanced aside from a dish of Mac and Cheese or the standard order of pretzel bites. Aside from that most of the dishes are on par with what youd find in the kitchens of 5 star chefs in Manhattan or LA. Prices are high but you shouldnt be here if price is an issue anyway, the area around it is surrounded by affordable eats and drinks. This place is its own experience all together and worth to extra price.

horrible experience-their website and their voicemail says they take reservations M-W. So we left a message at 10am for a party of 6 at 6pm. Got there and they have all these RULES. They have to have a 5 hour notice (they said leaving the message at 10am did not count, how can you talk to someone of they are not open!) Then there were about 5 other rules about the reservations. They made us wait in their tiny little area and finally said they would LET us go back there. They said we would be ALLOWED to stand in the bar area for a short wait. It turned out to be 45 minutes IN STILETTOS to get a dingy little cramped table. The menu is a joke, marginal food. The $23 steak is only sirloin. About 6 bites. The burger was like a mini-burger for $16. No bread was served. Waited 15 minutes to refill drink orders. Took 40 minutes to get the dismal food. Also no place to park, no valet. If you like the little gimmick of having the place be totally dark (people got out their phones to see the menu) and freezing cold, no windows, and oh-so-cheesy opening of the bookcase door to deign to let you into the back room, then go and see for yourselves. You even have to leave the place through the back door by the kitchen refrigerators. I would never never go there again.

If you looking for a speakeasy style bar this is for you. The bookstore front and false bookshelf entrance are cool enough but once in side you are in for a treat! (Dont waste your money at the Green Russell. And if you like the Green Russell for their drinks, give these guys a try.) Stylish bartenders with a refreshingly friendly attitude. The place is small so plan on making a reservation or try to get there early on a weeknight. The food is awesome but where they do shine is the service. Our bartender was really knowledgeable, he knew what we wanted to drink before we did. The small, intimate atmosphere allows the staff to enjoy conversation with you. They are what bartenders should be; skilled in their craft, humble, willing to listen and give poignant advise. Yes, it is pricey but you get an experience, you also realize that the bar was shut down for 2 whole days so the entire staff could be dedicated to pitting and preserving the cherries they use in their drinks and the drink price doesnt seem so pricey. With that kind of dedication, you know it will be good, that and the drinks are very generous. I fancy myself a drinker and I was tapping out after 3. Give it a try, at least once!

Dinner for four. Usually have had a good experience here however, this visit was awful. Usually dont drink on a school night so i ordered coffee at the beginning (didnt come till after dinner). Ordered two burgers and two rabbit entrees. The burgers were good, but the rabbit had a rubbery texture on some parts and chaulkiness on other parts. When asked about this our waittress Lauren said she didnt know how its supposed to be cooked and she would be willing to put it back on the grill? It was massively undercooked(whole sections) and to our horror, mostly had been eaten. Manager claimed it was overcooked and his tone insinuated we were idiots. He told us that if we didnt like it he would not want us to pay for it. I have a feeling he didnt even look. I should have taken a picture! His disingenuous response was insulting. Look, if I said I wanted free stuff I would have said it. I didnt come here cause Im broke (I actually like the drinks here). I wanted him to listen! Its just disenchanting the generic responses of under trained folks working in places like this. Maybe Sundays they have the new people working. Will not come back for the food. The drinks Ive had here are legit however!

I was in the neighborhood one night, and I was looking online for somewhere to get a nice drink, with a bite to go with it. I found this and read some positive reviews, so I figured, why not. I walked into the book lounge wondering if I was in the wrong place. The host asked if I wanted a booth or a bar seat. He immediately found me a bar seat, and swung open the bookshelf. With the well dressed staff, cozy spacing, and excellent interior decorations, I truly felt like I was in a early 20th century speakeasy. That was before I even had a drink. I was handed the lengthy drink and liquor menu, as well as the more than respectable wine and beer list. I had their DELICIOUS house drink for my first round, and after speaking with the expert bartender about my tastes, she made me something from scratch, with bourbon, blackberries, and mint. I dont know what all was in it, but it was amazing. Interior design, location, vibe, service, food, and drinks are all 5 of 5. I will happily come here again, and this time bring friends! Thanks for a great time and memories!

I went the first time with a group of 6 people. We waited an hour to get in, which was not a problem. We had some drinks and apps at the LoHi Steakbar. Once we finally were told our table was ready at Williams & Graham, we had to wait 15 minutes or more in their entry area. Once inside, we were escorted to our table. Except our table wasnt a table. It was a narrow, high counter top / half wall. The hostess said that they would be moving us to a table soon. That never happened. Even worse, it took 40 minutes for our first (and only) round of drinks to come out. It was still also fairly early, only around 9:30, and we had hopes on getting some food at this joint. After an hour, it was clear we were not going to get another round of drinks, get moved to a table or have the privilege to order some food.
