I enjoyed my first meal at Abes over 30 years ago and just stopped by recently for lunch. I was happy that it hasnt really changed much over time, it basically seems the same as what I remember from my first experience. Having prepared green chile myself on many occasions, I understand the intensity of the heat will vary between batches. I was certainly expecting the heat to be as intense as I clearly remember from meals in the past but sadly it wasnt meant to be this time. All in all the service was great and the food was tasty, just not fiery as I was hoping for. I still recommend Abes whole heartedly because it is a place that serves very good food at a reasonable price. It also is what it has always been so the reviews bashing the place based on the atmosphere and environment should probably just consider dining elsewhere. Personally I like the fact it hasnt changed over the years and they stick with what makes the brewery bar memorable.

Food was very lack luster. Ordered a salad, and it was just chopped lettuce with chicken mixed in. No unique toppings, no seasoning on the chicken. The hot chile was tolerable. I work in the industry, so I feel like I can be quite forgiving, but this was a very lacking experience. Our waitress had an attitude to her. She asked us to settle up after being there for only 45 minutes or so, and we were there for lunch. She obviously has more important things to do than work. You go into the bathroom, and it stinks horribly like sewer, not just someone having used the bathroom. Like the smell has been there for quite a while. That smell flowed into the dining space and made the food taste even worse. Usually Im up for a hole in the wall with great food, but not the Brewery Bar. Horrible, non-authentic Mexican food, service with attitude and a smell to make you gag is a recipe for disaster. Im just glad I survived the experience.

Was recomended by a friend. My first impression was not good as the restaurant looked like a dive. There were a few drunk people sitting out front smoking heavily as I tried to squeeze by with my 2 year old in my arms. Standing by the "please wait to be seated" sign, a grumpy waitress told us to sit where ever it was clean. We took our seats and the same waitress took our drink order like we were a inconveniencing her. Then...nothing for 25 minutes. Our waitress was parked in a chair chatting with some friends. She finally took our order. Food came lightning fast. And it was very good. Not "Best in Denver" good, but very good. The food was not worth the bad service. Go to "The South" near Hampden and Santa Fe. Still the best mexican food I have had in Denver. Good service too.

IVE BEEN COMING HERE FOREVER IT SEEMS. The best relleno ever!! Green chile is AMAZING!! ODDLY ENOUGH I brought a friend and this was the FIRST TIME EVER I got two small flat rellenos. I sent mine back and got a regular large fluffy one. She kept hers as she didnt want to complain. Hers was small flat with no meat...AT ALL, so I gave her mine to show her the real quality they usually produce. I included a pic of hers and mine...the difference is noticeable. Ill still come twice a month . :) Will Romero

Gross as hell! Plate of slop that was probably days old. Literally the most disgusting green chile Ive ever tasted... I went simple with a smothered been and beef burrito, food cake to our table in less than 3 minutes. The lady kinda slid the food on the table like it was dog food and walked off. Well it looked like dog food and taste like it too. Super disappointed as Ive heard the food was great... Well people lied, its horrible.

Biker bar atmosphere. I eat here for lunch fairly regularly. Though it doesnt look appetizing, I still like the food though its a little salty. This is your typical Colorado Mexican food place where they like to put green chili on everything. The green chili is a little watery, but the flavors are good. A good place to adjust your pallet to spicy foods. They also love cheese. Not healthy, but tastes good.

Used to eat here often when I did business in the neighborhood. I had not been back for years. I went to lunch with my wife. Her comment was that the Mexican food was the worst food she had ever eaten. She ate very little of the lunch. She was right it was awful . I do not know what has changed but the place has really gone down hill. I will never go back.

The service was fast and friendly. The prices were fair. The chips and salsa were uninspired - probably from Safeway. The hot green chile was very good but not remarkable. The food was not better than many Mexican restaurants in Denver. We did not try the drinks. We will not go back. Try La Loma or Tacos Jalisco for better food and atmosphere.

The only thing thats saving this place are the cooks. The food is awesome and fast, but the service is awful. The servers have been there forever and dont think they should be nice to anyone. They are condescending and get mad at you if you cant decipher their complicated chili selections and have no skill in selling drinks. Will never go back.

The best Green Chili in Denver. I moved back to New York 5 years ago, and am visiting this weekend. Where is the first place I am going to eat you may ask? HERE. I have raved about this green chili to anyone who will listen. Sure it is kinda a divish bar, but the people are friendly, service is good, and the food is amazing.

Slow service, poor quality food, and dirty restaurant and bathrooms. This is the closest definition to a dive that I can think of. I used to come in often, but the food quality at all of their restaurants is so poor I do not plan on ever coming back! Bear in mind that I have eaten at a number of dives, this is just awful!

Place is not well kept. Chili relleno was the worst! It was mostly a glob of deep fried cheese with a strip of pepper swimming in the thinnest watered down sauce. Really bad. Charged for stale Tostito tortilla chips and canned salsa. Will never return. Too bad because it used to be a decent place.

FOOD POISONING!! seriously. Both my girlfriend and I went to this restaurant from a recommendation, but the food was terrible. We both got sick immediately after leaving, were sick for the entire next day, and were not satisfied at all with the cleanliness of the place. DO NOT GO HERE!
