Visited on 11/23/2016 It was later in the evening and after a day of walking, hiking and sightseeing we were hungry. Not just the run-of-the-mill, “I’m hungry” hunger, but a deep hunger that permeates through the very center of your gut and reaches into your brain and slaps the crap out of your hypothalamus. Yes….. that hungry. But we didn’t want to settle for fast food or a chain restaurant. Lucky for us we were in the area and Heart of Jerusalem sounded like a great idea. Considering the number of reviews already posted I’ll save us time and just stress…. This place is great! Sure, it’s small and the service may be spotty from time to time due to the amount of staff available…. But holy crap, the food is awesome. I couldn’t make up my mind on what to eat so I decided to try a little bit of everything and went for the sampler. Yup, one full-sized sampler for one person….. I told you…. I was HUNGRY! Everything on the sampler was great and I highly recommend it to anyone that’s looking of something “different”. If you’ve never had this kind of food or don’t know if you have the palette for it… it’s worth a try. I topped the night off with some Baklava and Turkish coffee. I sat at my table, peacefully sipping my coffee and savoring the Baklava…. reveling in food I just ate. It was an experience and I will most definitely make this a stop every time I visit Colorado Springs.

Id been wanting to try this place and I finally went with a friend over the weekend... I will definitely be back (and Ill likely bring my husband with me next time)! I spent two weeks in Jordan two years ago and have loved Middle Eastern food ever since. This meal was awesome. We split an order of dolmas, I got the chicken kabob platter and we each got a piece of baklava (which came with a small glass of the Middle Eastern Sage Tea). My friend is a runner and Im pregnant, so we didnt end up with leftovers, but that was quite a feat (read: the platter portions were large). I loved that the platters let you try so many items (falafel, saffron rice, hummus, pita, etc). We even loved the tea (we each got a cup to go!). The lady who took our orders and checked us out was so sweet but, I will admit, we didnt know what to do with our plates when we were done (do we bus our own table?). But that would not stop me from HIGHLY recommending this place. And, like I said, I will definitely be back!!

Fantastic food, plain and simple. We ordered platters from the specialty menu - the most expensive meals - and our bill came out to less than $30. Everything was timely, fresh and hot. They make nearly everything in-house, with the exception of the pita bread. The falafel (shaped like little hearts!), hummus and everything else is made in house. If you enjoy Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food - this is the place to go! Ive been to the Middle East twice and this was the closest restaurant to that food that I have ever been to! Amir (owners son/waiter/cashier) and Abraham (cook) are friendly young men who know exactly what theyre doing! When I visited they were running the restaurant by themselves and even with a full house it ran like clockwork! Being that this is less than 10 minutes from my house I WILL BE BACK! This is the kind of place that youd drive an hour or more to have - so glad we live close by!

So this is not my first trip to Heart of J or my first time to this particular Heart of J. In the past Ive ranted and raved about the food and the service but no more. The hummus and baba ghanoush didnt taste as good as what you can get from the grocery store. Im a creature of habit, once I find something I like at a place its hard to get me to change. I always get the lamb shawarma and its always great but not this time. Im not even sure what was on it was lamb the cucumber sauce seemed to have been replaced with mayo, the flat bread for dipping was hard as a rock. Lastly I always make it a point to get Turkish Coffee and even this was a major disappointment, watery, little taste and all grounds. Over the past 6 months or so Ive been here at least 8 or 9 times and I live in Parker, never again. Very disappointed!

**This review is for the Centennial location only. I have not been to the others.** Hands down, my favorite restaurant in the Springs to date. When it comes to taste, quality, quantity, price, and service, this place gets 5 stars all around. AWESOME food. My girlfriend and I have been in here a few times since our discovery of it, and we leave happy every time. I always feel full, but never bloated or "stuffed". The Turkish coffee is delicious. The presentation of the food is gorgeous and equally as pleasing as the taste. We will keep coming back! Also, on a side note, to David Stanford, the guy who gave this place a bad review and said that he wouldnt come back because the owners are Islamic and he saw them praying... good, dont come back. Take that ignorant, small minded bs elsewhere.

Such a gem! I ordered the Turkish coffee and it was so good! It had strong but delicious spices and served in a traditional little pot. My boyfriend got iced sage tea and it was very good! The food was beautifully displayed in the plates with bright colors and you can tell the cooks really enjoyed making it! I ordered the hummus plate and couldnt stop eating it! Super fresh and large CHEAP portions! They totally deserve MORE than the 5 stars I can give here!! The staff was very friendly and the vibe was very chill. I believe the womans name was Cynthia who was our waitress and she was very spot on with everything. There was also a younger man with longer hair who was super friendly!!

Dont order for delivery! My order was incomplete and completely cold. I ordered 2 dinner plates and received everything in 1 to go box and my food looked like a hot mess minus the hot. The lettuce was rotten and half brown half of my order was spilled throughout the bag. I called to ask them where the rest of my order was and they kept playing phone tag with 2 completely hateful people who said I should blame the delivery driver. I didnt ask for a refund or even mentioned one. These people are completely rude and dont care one bit about customer service and or customer satisfaction. I gave 1 star but that is being nice.

I love the food, the atmosphere, and especially the customer service here. I tried Heart of Jerusalem and fell in love with middle eastern food. By accident, I got a coupon for Taste of Jerusalem and decided to try it today and it only made me appreciate Heart of Jerusalem so much more. Heart of Jerusalem definitely puts its heart into everything it has, whereas Taste of Jerusalem is definitely only there for the money and customer happiness doesnt mean a thing to them. Do your taste buds and mood a favor and choose Heart of Jerusalem. Its amazing and well worth it.

The food is good, but Ive certainly enjoyed other Middle Eastern food more. This location is small, so not many employees are required to be on premises. That being said, Ive seen the pendulum swing between a really awesome and inviting staff, to a lackluster group who appeared to prefer no customers be inside. Overall, Id recommend Heart of Jerusalem for their quality ingredients and well thought out menu, but your experience with the restaurant staff may vary from good to bad and all places in between.
