UPDATE: To address the customer service concerns. Ive been eating there for 8 years now and I have a thing to say about their customer service: Its not that great in the traditional sense. Ive come to be friends with the owner who is very shy and reserved, and know several of the regular waitress/server gals who work there. I think there might be a cultural/language barrier that gets in the way sometimes, but Ive always gotten what Ive asked for and theyve always brought my food in a timely manner. Sure, they havent bent over backwards , but my food arrives on time and the order is correct, but I can admit that service with a smile is NOT their motto and theyve NEVER been rude. I personally can EASILY over look this small misgiving for the fact that their food is fresh, hot, and delicious. Ive been to most of the indian places in the area, and sure there are some good places, but I always find myself coming back to Pooja Indian Grill. My recommendation is to go during dinner rather than lunch buffet, although the buffet is great, I think youd be missing the real ~amazing~ food during dinner. What I like most is that everything is very fresh tasting and hot (temp). The naan comes out so soft and piping hot you cant even hold it until it cools down after a minute. The curries are delicious and the cream dishes are out of this world. Theyll end up giving me a coronary heart attack because they are so creamy and rich, but it will probably be worth it. Pricing is decent too for what you get. I wouldnt say its cheap, but you can do dinner for around 30 dollars for two. I also always leave very satisfied. I also recommend the mango lassi which is a mango/yogurt drink that cuts the fire on spicy foods! Go try it for yourselves! Delicious!

One of the more authentic Indian places for lunch buffet i been too. . Now onto the food right? . Tendori chicken -pretty awesome if you ask me. The chicken is tender and still have a nice texture. The char grilled whatever you call it is nice. I love to debone the drumstick and mix it in with the house salad and drizzled some butter chicken sauce and call it a Indian alex t creation chicken salad! . Rice - they have 2 types of rice. One is basmati rice and usually a veggie bryani fried rice. . Butter chicken is what stands out to me. I only like the sauce and used the deboned tendori chicken to dip it in and call it a day. The chicken meat in side the butter sauce is tender and not dried and hard but amazing great texture too. Not like most places i been too and actually stands out to me. . Salad bar - great simple lettuce ice berg of course. Tomatoes. Cucumber. Red onion. And some of that home made mint chutney sauce is refreshing! . Nan - of course that is like the tortilla and rice which just compliments everything. Delicious too. . Chai tea - complimentary on the buffet line. Love it and always make my tummy warm and round lol. . Mango ice cream - yes they have this if you have a sweet tooth. . Overall they refill your water so thats a plus. They have lots of napkin on the counter which i like because of all the sauces which gets a bit messy. Anyways great ambiance in here for some bomb food. As well great lunch prices too. I recommend the lunch buffet because there is a good crowd too. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day! Stay curry up! .

Im from Yuba City where there is a really big Indian community, so I grew up eating really good Indian food!!! Ive been spoiled so Im kinda a food snob. Everywhere I have tried in Sac has been a disappointment until last Tuesday when I tried this place. I came with a friend for the lunch buffet. It was delicious they brought fresh baked naan to our table that was cooked perfectly. All the dishes on the buffet line were fool of flavor! As Indian food should be. My problem with most of the places in Sac is the food is bland lacking spices but not this place. When we were paying out I was shocked to discover the buffet was only $9.99 in my openion the food was worth much more we even got mango ice cream and chai tea. I was completing the lady at the front on how good the food was and she informed me that they do diliverys to down town. So yesterday ordered dilivery and again the food was spot on! Yea! So happy I finally found good Indian food! Wish I would have found you 5 years ago when I first moved to Sac. You would have seen me every week.

Had the lunch buffet with a group from work. Five stars for the food. 12 people in our group from work and everyone loved it. Two stars for the condition of the building. Well worn. Poorly laid out. Ambience was non-existent. If the food hadnt been perfect and fairly priced, this review would have been two stars. The furniture was nice enough but the walls and layout desperately need to be rethought. Please for the sake of anybody trying to have a conversation, fix the damn ice cream machine. The noise was unbearable.

Well this is awesome place for an Indian and specially if you had enough of American food. You will get all traditional dishes here especially you should try lunch buffet which is from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Which will cost you around 10 bucks. Its been 3 weeks Im staying here but I do visit this place at least twice in a week to get a feel of Indian food. Awesome thank you Pooja for being there for us.

We love Pooja. It is consistently good food and good quality. They use an adequate amount of spices in all their offerings which is an area where many Indian restaurants cut things short. Nothing worse that a curry without enough flavor to it, and by spice I do NOT mean it is spicy hot, just well seasoned. Highly recommended place. Expect a full house on the weekends during lunch buffet.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the Sacramento area. Very unassuming location and unpretentious decor, but known to the suit and tie capital crowd as well as the state workers in West Sacramento. They have fantastic food. Just come and try it. A lunch and dinner buffet exists and is under $15. They also have a full menu for dinner as well. Atmosphere 3/5 Food 5/5 Service 5/5

My favorite Indian restaurant! I moved 600 miles away and when Im in sac visiting family I have to stop for dinner. Theres nothing like it in Portland. Please understand the staff is very quiet and shy, but responsive if you need help. Calm down, take your time and relax. This is NOT Chilis.

Awesome selection of veg and non-veg items (even fish) including chai and mango soft serve which were a nice bonus! Some of the dishes seemed a little heavy on the salt and seasoning (not too spicy just too salty) but beyond that it was great. Service is attentive and the decor is beautiful

Seriously, 1/3 cup of rice? The place was empty, yet I waited 10 minutes for my order to get taken and 20 minutes to get my check and pay. 10 minutes of that was waiting to get my credit card back. The food did not make up for the negatives, which included not one single "thank you. "
