This restaurant is the only place to get dim sum on Grand in South San Francisco. It may not be the best dim sum ever, but its really not bad. Ha Gow - Skin was a bit too soft, and the stuffing wasnt seasoned well, although it had a good firm texture. There wasnt any young bamboo to accentuate the sweetness of the shrimp so it was a little on the bland side. Siu Mai - Again, the texture of the pork stuffing was good and smooth, but there wasnt enough shrimp or mushrooms to give it a more rounded and complete flavor profile. XLB - I liked that the skin was thin and delicate, but the stuffing was under-seasoned and wasnt very soupy. I enjoy tasting ginger and green onions in XLB, but I couldnt really detect that much here. Steamed Spareribs - Pretty good. The little pieces of spareribs were tender and flavorful. The black bean sauce was strong enough to coat the spareribs in salty goodness. Salty Fish and Chicken Fried Rice - The rice was cooked well, but it couldve been more pungent. The salted fish that they used was a little too dry, and not enough was used to make it more aromatic. It still wasnt bad, though. Clam Porridge - I thought this was the best thing at lunch. The rice porridge was thick, rich, and filled with large, fresh clams. I liked the addition of pickled mustard green stems, which provided a contrast to the fresh sweetness of the clams. The portion size was pretty generous too.

Attended a wedding reception here and enjoyed all the dishes that were served. The first dish was an appetizer which consisted of seaweed salad, roasted pork, and jelly fish. All these were cold. We had a soup that supposedly mocked the shark fin soup but it doesnt have any shark fin. It was extremely starchy and wasnt to my liking. There were chunks of starch that I ate. We had an abolone and sea cucumber dish which was heavily starched but the taste wasnt too salty. We had a lobster dish and a quail dish that I didnt get to try but it looked good. Finally we ended dinner with the fried rice which I loved. It wasnt oily and was lightly salted and had that flavor as if the rice was cooked in a wok. I know in general Chinese dishes have starch in them but it was a little too much that it made the texture of the food a bit weird. Otherwise the flavor is there. Its not too salty like other restaurants.

One of the few decent dim sum places for late comers. And the best part? The dishes are made to order and comes out pipping hot because of it. Oh the pleasures of having late dim sum! This place is very popular for dinner banquets too but Ive only been here for dim sum. Ha gao, good Shiu mai, good Golden fried shrimp balls, good (one of my faaaves) Shrimp rice noodle roll, good Stuffed bell peppers, good Beef tripe w/ turnip, ok (its a bunch of random beef meats; my sis loves it tho) Stuffed mushrooms, ok (I prefer the bell peppers) Steamed egg custard bun, ok (would be better if more custard!) Chicken feet, ok (but Im not a big fan of this anyway) Green tea sesame ball w/ red bean paste, meh (theres no green tea taste at all) XLB, meh Parking is more affordable here and if youre lucky, you can land a spot that already has 54 minutes in it, woohoo!

Another reason why Millbrae is the Chinese food capital of the Bay Area. For a while this was our regular dim sum joint. Fine stuff, but there is plenty of good competition in the area (Zen Peninsula etc.). Expect the usual waits on the weekend - yes, get there early. Youre pretty much good with anything here: turnip cake, various steamed dumplings, sesame rolls with red bean paste, various pan and deep fried goodies - the usual fare. Rice porridge is ok (not spectacular). Ive been here a couple of times for dinner. They do good fresh steamed fish but a little pricy. Millbrae is generally pretty good with parking too, but you may have to walk a distance at peak times.

This place was always jam-packed with customers every time that we ate here. Im guessing that the restaurants popularity can be ascribed to the following attributes: + Clean dining area (which is unusual for a Chinese restaurant). + Friendly wait staff (which is also rare for a Chinese restaurant). + Tasty dishes. + Reasonable prices. But for the troublesome meter parking, I would give the Grand Palace five stars.

Grand Palace is ultimately my favourite dim sum spot in the peninsula. Big menu with good variety in a la carte options. Food is fantastic, not overly greasy. Ive taken many of my friends & family members here & they all love it! Nice traditional decor with chandeliers & lobster water tanks. Waiters usually respond quickly to your requests-just know exactly what you want. Parking is semi-tricky since its in downtown.

The service was pretty good, but the food was of questionable origin. I wouldnt recommend the jellyfish; it was like tough gummy bears and did not go well with a mysterious gelatinous fish we were served. This may be a delicacy for natives, but to the uninitiated it is an experience which wont be soon forgotten. In all fairness, the traditional dishes were pretty good.

Although what we had was good, my friend wanted a particular item on the menu hed had before, and our waiter was no help. We ordered it from a head waiter and waited 10 minutes at least for what never arrived. He was then really slow and rude about getting our check and taking my card. I dont tolerate service like that. Wont be back.

Food was great, decor was ok, did not like the service. I almost felt like I was at a flea market, had several ladies pushing around a carts with food all trying to compete to get the food from there cart. Throughout the entire time the same ladies would continue to come by offering you the same food you said no to.

I came here for a Red Egg and Ginger party for my friends baby. The food was delicious. The service was not good. They didnt even bring us water or ask of we wanted anything to drink. It was almost like they were trying to rush the entire party out of their venue as fast as possible.

Pretty good dim sum fare. The place is deceivingly large on the inside, so they have space for dim sum carts and trays to go around. Large tables have the lazy Susan to make dim sum sharing easier. They also have a paper menu with English translations that is pretty helpful.

A decent place for dim sum, and in general a significantly better value than Koi Palace (factor in the pain & suffering re: parking at Koi). The service here is sometimes regrettably lacking, but being that its the only game in town, it could certainly be far worse.

I came on a weekday and was quite disappointed. The dim sum tasted like it was microwaved to be warm. The dessert (mango with pomelo and sago) was also not that good - tasted like melted mango ice cream.

The dim sum was adequate but the price was high for the such small portions. During the lunch time peak service as very slow and parking can be a problem. Some of the dishes could use a little more flavor.

Good food ... claypot is my favorite Good enough service Excellent service at a chinese restaurant would be a first for me. Tip; Park at the Miller Street parking facility and take the short walkway walk.
