My wife and I were on our honeymoon and staying right on the square in Sonoma. We sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine with some apps. As we are about to get our entrees a gentleman walked up to us and told us that we were being too loud and that we needed to be quiet. It was not said in the nicest of ways and we were both taken back as he told us this, due to the fact that we were not any louder than the other tables around us. Once he walked away another employee came up to us who was not our waitress and explained to us that he is the owner and apologized for his rudeness. We then sat in silence as our entrees made it out but the mood was altered and neither of us were hungry anymore. Without another word we paid the check and left the restaurant. Then the guy who told us to be quiet(we were told he is the owner/ short guy with long brown hair) comes running out of the restaurant after we had already walked about 20 yards from the front door and the first thing he yells is, "Do I need to call the cops?" I laughed. I told him we werent being loud and even if we were thats not how you handle that situation. So I dont know if this guy has napoleon syndrome or just got dumped but he is detrimental to the success of this place and directly caused his employees to not receive as much money as they could have. Clearly he was in the wrong because if you look at it from his situation a loud couple at the bar just paid their tab with a tip and left. Yet he wants to chase us down to ask us if he needs to call the cops?

Ate dinner last night with my boyfriend after a recommendation was given by a winery close by. We were seated quickly, but then were forgotten by the wait staff. Small table right next to the bar, ordered a beer from a bus boy, and later he took our order. Our original waitress disappeared. We ordered niman steak, it was flavorful, but when asked how we liked it we mentioned that the polenta was not good ~prefer mashed potatoes his response was by bus boy only lamb dish comes with the mashed potstoes. I really was surprised + taken back by that explanation. Later a waitress came by and she asked how our food was I again mentioned our disappointment with the polenta, and she did not respond nor did nothing to enhance our entree by offering another replacement or substitute. They really did not appreciate our feedback or care for that matter. I wonder why they ask~since they do nothing to make it better. My lasagna was good, but was not over the top delicious. The flavors were mild, not very much cheese, and I would have liked it if they would have asked me for fresh ground parmigiano. Overall one beer+ one cappuccino, lasagna and steak totaled $75 plus + after tip $87.00 wish I could have been impressed~ marginal dinner. Im not sure what we could of done differently. No one asked us if we wanted dessert?

We chose HMC for my Birthday dinner.I ordered the quail entrée with cabbage and quinoa. The quail and cabbage were so heavily laden with salt that I really couldnt taste the purity of food. The quinoa was good,..white cheesecake for dessert was very good. The quail and cabbage were properly cooked..quail was tender ..cabbage was just slightly adente ..cheesecake , delicious...but the cute little salt cellar on the table certainly would never have to be used. the chair seating is a nice style, but quite uncomfortable..wooden slats. Added chair cushions would definitely be a plus..HMC has potential, ..just minus the NaCl..!

Came here on a Saturday night and had a wonderful time. The menu changes daily but is always interesting, local and delicious. They are known for their Ribeye steak but they have great soups, salad, dessert; really everything. The dining room is cozy inside but they have a great back patio (which is covered with heaters in the winter). This is a great spot for a special occasion. Pricey and well worth the money. One of the best spots in downtown Sonoma!

The kitchen is super thoughtful with respect to food issues. I cant eat dairy or gluten, and my date couldnt eat pork, and they served us a super yummy meal that we could both enjoy. We got in really late, 10 minutes before close, and they were still super good humored and it seemed like they were really happy to see us. We sat outside on a lovely summer night, and I just cannot say enough nice things about the HMC.

My new favorite foodie restaurant in Sonoma. Husband & wife chef team owners, new seasonal menu nightly, ingredience obviously sourced daily, fresh fresh fresh. No micro, no freezer, just great chefs like: Ashley & Shawn, great atmosphere, awesome servers like: Corinne & Timbo, local veggies & protein prepared to order just the way I like. Brilliant! Dont miss this Gem on your next trip to Sonoma, Ca.

Enjoyed everything but was not delighted (where some of the restaurants just around the corner are amazing). The space (we were in a tented room) was not overly pleasant, and the food was a bit mild (I guess to showcase the local ingredients). The highlight was the very attentive service.

One of three best restaurants in Sonoma. The food is simple fare done perfectly. Chef Nick is a genius and baking chefs Jenn makes the best bread and deserts on the planet! Go here when you visit. The wine list alone shows the creativity and sensibilities of the place.

I have loved every bite at this restaurant. Their soups are intriguingly spiced with combinations you would not expect that turned out spectacular. Their salads are excellent and their mains are delicious. Great wine choices and a really nice setting. Youll enjoy it.

We had dinner at Harvest Moon Cafe on Valentines evening. The food was spectacular! It was hands down the best food I have had in restaurant in as long as I can remember. The recipes were inventive, inspired and delicious. This restaurant is a gem!

Had a large group for which we had beautiful garden seating (do wish there was some warmers outside as it did get down to the 50s that night). Food was delicious. Gnocchi, steak, and lamb ragu were all mouth watering. Service was great.

We were seated in a completely enclosed patio with no ventilation or atmosphere. We were being baked by infrared lights, but it was a temperate evening. Even though it was highly recommended, we ended up leaving.

Weve eaten at HMC at least 25 times. We had great meals every time. The sauces are spectacular, fish always done to perfection and the meat dishes are to savor. Best restaurant in Sonoma, hands down!

Been here a couple of times and have always loved it. Great food at reasonable prices, friendly and laid back atmosphere and a nice patio out the back for warm summer evenings. Highly recommended.

Place is top notch. The outside dinner area is super awesome in the warmer months and love that the menu changes so frequently. Great spot for a dinner with friends/family or that special someone.

The menu is fancy, as in not your normal sit down burgar place, but the food is amazing non the less. Prices are needleing, with mean meal being around $26 with a non wine drink. Overall good
