On the waterfront overlooking San Francisco and in the heart of downtown Sausalito, youll find the Sausalito Bakery and Cafe. We explored the sights and sounds of this artisty charming city before deciding we needed a break. At first glimpse, this tiny cafe isnt appealing. The decor is minimalist, seating is scarce, and you only have about two feet worth of space between the counter and seating area. My first internal reaction was to turn around and find another place to eat before I was stopped by the chef, greeted warmly, and asked what Id like to eat. The claustrophobia inside my quickly died and I decided to give this place a shot. It couldnt hurt, right? Disappointed by Fort Bragg (where I chose to spend my 30th birthday), I had high hopes for good eats here. I chose the Chicken Caesar salad sandwich with a cup of chicken noodle soup. I needed the nourishment from these two items to quell my experience of Fort Bragg and also provide enough warmth to battle the fierce wind and cold in San Francisco where I would be ringing in the new year. Sandwiches run about $7-8 here but be warned - they are cash only and luckily theres an ATM inside. We scooped out the last remaining seat - a booth by the kitchen and dug in. While waiting for our sandwiches, we enjoyed a luscious summer fruit salad. It was a mixture of ripe cantaloupes, succulent pineapple, strawberries, blackberries, and grapes. Yum! It was the perfect starter for the sandwiches that arrived a short while later. My sandwich arrived a little messy which set me a little on a edge. I was instantly expecting the worst but at first bite was immediately proven wrong and all thoughts of Fort Bragg escaped my head. This sandwich was a masterful creation of crisp romaine lettuce, freshly shredded Parmesan cheese, ripe beefy hot house tomatoes, juicy chicken breakfast, and a unique Caesar salad dressing that wasnt the least bit tangy but rather somewhat sweet and a bit spicy. Might I add, this was all served on a warm fresh French roll. Simply amazing! My chicken noodle soup was pure perfection. While Im used to flat noodles in my soup, I was surprised to see vermicelli but it work with the chunks of chicken, carrots, onion, and celery. My heart and soul were at one with my meal and it was the perfect way to end the day in Sausalito, celebrate my birthday, and ring in the New Year. Dont let this tiny bakery and cafe fool you. The owners Joshua and Fariba Azar (Iranian) have poured their hearts into building a legacy and it shows. While seated there lost in my meal, I noticed several locals stop by for casual conversation. Fariba greeted them kindly and was ready with their usual orders.

BEST SANDWICH IVE EATEN EVER! If youre tired and hungry after the Golden Gate Bridge Cycle, just want a delicious and value for money bite to eat or are doing a one day visit to Sausalito, you have to go to this wonderful bakery. The food is fresh, well portioned and exquisite, and the service is just as excellent. If youre getting a sandwich, definitely try the sourdough bread, and I would personally recommend the Tuna. Also the fish chowder and salads (particularly the Greek) are delicious and just as well portioned. The bread and butter pudding was also amazing! If you are visiting the beautiful San Francisco you have to visit Sausalito for even just a day,it is a truly beautiful and relaxing place, and this bakery is a must! I still miss the sandwich I had from this bakery, and I visited 6 months ago- its that good! Also, next door is a really original vintage clothing store which is equally great to visit after a delicious lunch here!

We were walking around Sausalito and just needed a place to rest and sip on some coffee. This place had 4 stars on yelp and so we decided to try. The coffee was below average, wish we went to the Starbucks next door instead. We were going to order some food but saw quite a few people left without finishing their sandwiches and soup and didnt look happy. We ended up avoiding the food also. Theres probably better cafes to go to around this area.

Stopped here after biking from San Fransisco. We wanted a light lunch and all the other restaurants were serving quote large meals. We saw this place, and went straight for their sandwiches. We had a beef one and a turkey one, and both were delicious. The pickled cabbage on the side was amazing! My wifes chocolate milkshake was made with the amazing ice cream. All in all, a good place to come, with a bit of a view outside as a bonus!

I work close to this area and I come in a few times, but every time seems worse and worse. I ordered a bagel and cream cheese and it was $5! It came out burnt. I ordered a fruit salad but it was the tiniest portion imaginable for $7. I admit the breakfast plates are good, only if you come in at 7am when no one is around so they actually take time to care about your food! They do have really great house made pastries though!

I dont like giving negative reviews but unfortunately this cute little place served me a pretty bad latte. Scalding hot. Bubble bath on top and straight milk underneath. Sitting outside and enjoying the bay was lovely, but I can find that luxury without paying close to four dollars. The barista was very friendly and I didnt try any of their edible offerings (so maybe I missed out on something there).

Lovely bakery, I had the opportunity to have breakfast here twice, and both times I was not disappointed. This is the kind of place you come in no hurry! Especially in the mornings, the (so I believe) owner is alone, so food takes a while to come out, but its worth the wait, in the meantime, sit outside and enjoy the waterfront view.

Holy s*** the blueberry banana bread thing is fantastic. I was tempted to dock a star because the server didnt make the cup of tea right but no one in the states seems to know (you put the tea bag in before the water, for the curious). Nice relaxed atmosphere and not crazy busy as I would have expected for the number of tourists

Sandwiches as big as your head, and really good to boot. Had corned beef on sourdough, and turkey on soft roll. Really tasty. Great atmosphere. Counter person (owner?) very friendly and helpful. Maybe a bit pricey, but what isnt in the Bay area?

The food and service were both amazing. The owner was very attentive and the views were awesome. We stopped in on Sunday morning and would do so again in a heartbeat. The strudel and breakfast croissants were among the best Ive had.

Okay coffee, giant chocolate chip cookies with a ton of chips but a little dry. Other foods looked delicious and fast service at the counter. Small space and very crowded on the weekend.
