This is my new favorite gastro pub. Friendliest service in this city, nice decor, amazing beer, and tasty food. My girlfriend thinks the calamari were amazing: "Local, fresh, lightly breaded, flavorful, without being chewey, and the tomato ragu was delicious." The deviled eggs are delightful (and purple!). I would kill a puppy for a lifetime supply of their brisket cigars with that hot pepper jelly. The clam chowder was not very chowderish to us, but still delicious. Our first meal was the fried chicken with mushroom gravy...which was excellent but outshone by the accompanying carrots and string beans sauteed in butter. We were really looking forward to the grilled cheese and then a little let down by it. Same went for the club sandwich. But overall the food and atmosphere are great. The interior and the patio more than make up for the fact that most of the view is a sad strip mall parking lot. And frankly the location just outside of downtown and the spaciousness are the proverbial breath of fresh air. We barely bother going to Fourth Street anymore now that we have Steele & Hops.

Ive been there twice in its current incarnation. They have an interesting collection of beers, though perhaps less interesting to me than when it was "Heritage House". The Founders "Dirty Bastard" Scotch Ale was pretty good. I think the decor has taken a step forward. I think it looks newer/fresher/brighter than it used to. They have a nice looking patio that Id like to try some time. The food is somewhat mixed. I had a pesto pizza that was decent, though somewhat disappointing as the pesto seemed muted. For an appetizer I tried the "Brisket Cigars" which came with a "Pepper Jam". That was fabulous. Probably my new favorite app. There was no wait getting a table at 6pm, the wait staff was friendly and quick with the food and drink. I will definitely be going back.

Delicious food and a vast variety of beers. One of my favorite things about Steele and Hops, aside from the amazing customer service, is the imported beer. I can hardly find authentic German beer in Santa Rosa. They almost always have it. The beer garden is amazing to sit in at Day or night. The fire pit warms you on the coldest of nights and makes for a very cozy hangout. The staff their is the friendliest Ive ever known at a restaurant. Everybody comes and says hi to you and chats if you are a familiar face. They also started a trivia night that is very fun and great to get to know other fun people. Keep up the good work Steele and Hops

Twice we have had a large group and at the last minute had plans change and we descended on Steele and Hops with no notice. Both times they were incredibly accommodating!! The first time their patio wasnt even open, but they opened it just for us and turned all of the heaters and the fire pit so we were very comfortable. Food and service outstanding, especially because they were dealing with a crowd of about 20 people. Waitstaff kept coming to check and see if we needed more food and drink. And amazingly at the end of the night they let us all pay our tabs individually, not many places would do that. Great service, again. Thank you.

Service was good, staff friendly and efficient. Very loud and noisy. Deviled eggs tasted old and stale, like they were prepared days ago. Most fried food was VERY greasy. Brisket cigars so loaded with grease we couldnt eat them and sent them back (they did take them off our bill). Fish and chips were amongst the least tasty weve ever had. The onion rings were good and not too loaded with grease. Until they learn how to serve food with less grease, we wont be back.

Such a great gem! First time to Steele and Hops and I was so impressed. Bartenders very knowledgeable on the different beers & great customer service. I definitely recommend their House Beer - Blonde on the Board. The food was great too! I had the pizza and roasted chicken. Plus - cant beat hanging out by the fire pit!

Disappointed by portions for the prices. Small beer selection compared to the past resident owners. Not the type of beer pub for the location. They need to step up portions and flavors.

Great layout and atmosphere. Had the wings and chicken sandwich; both were spot on. Diverse beer list that I cant wait to get back to try more.

Service was poor on a Friday night. Server apologized that it was so busy. I think it would be expected that it would be busy on a Friday.
