We went for Valentines Day (Saturday) and it was almost a 3 hour drive from Bakersfield because of the traffic around LAX. The people we met who worked there were always concerned that we were taken care of, and we enjoyed the experience fully. Im not sure why others had such negative reviews, but maybe their expectations were set too high to begin with. A venue like this means that people have to wait for service because there are shows happening in another room as well, and when we were there, they only had one team working both rooms. The Tarot card reader was nice, but she did not display the detail and intuition that many use to gain the confidence of their audience and to convince them that they are indeed in-touch with the afterlife we all like to hear about here on earth. However, it is entertainment, so just having her there was a plus. Janet said the Belly Dancer could have been more equipped with castanets and coins on her outfit that jiggled (My beautiful and vivacious partner took belly dancing lessons and performed as an amateur for her friends and family), but she also said that her moves were great, and made up for the lack of belly dancing extras. She was also pretty, approachable and she worked the entire room with all age groups, including the children with their families. There are coupons, and I have a coupon queen for a mate so coupons were used - We used the "pay cash and get a free entree" coupon. So the price was reasonable for two drinks, a bottle of Riesling and our meal. We always pay a 20% gratuity for great service so that was a no-brainer in this case. Out the door, after excluding individual tips for the Tarot Card Lady and Belly Dancer, was $120. We have spent more for Sushi or on a great steak before, and we had brought $300 cash, so this was a pleasant surprise. It was a great experience and we look forward to trying it again. The food was awesome, the service wonderful and the people genuine in their desire to showcase an art within a culture that is thousands of years old. I want to thank the Babouch staff who made a wonderful Valentines Day for both of us. The memory will live for years to come. Curtis Fisher

i dont even know where to begin, but this was ABSOLUTELY the WORST dining experience ive ever had! ive experienced far better customer service and food at dennys... i called and scheduled a reservation for 13 people, mostly children, and it was confirmed..so this should not have been an issue...i also requested a private room as we did not want the children exposed to the belly dancers...this, too, was confirmed... we arrived at 7 p.m., food for children didnt come until after 8 and didnt come all together...so you had 8 children who got their foods at different times and were confused because it looked like appetizers...i wish i had taken a picture of the measly portions because i have NEVER seen anything like it at a restaurant...seriously, the kids "meals" consisted only of meat! some plates got a couple pieces of bread, others didnt...and if the kids were at the same table, for some reason the restaurant decided to throw all the meat on one plate...BIG CONFUSION...there was no couscous, veggies, or anything else to reason that these were actually meals...by the time the kids finished eating, some bread and couscous was brought to help fill their tummies...after they had all eaten, still NO ADULT PLATES! now its after 9 and im just fed up...other parties that had at least 6 adults, had come and gone...we had 5 adults and no plates...finally, our food comes close to 10 and the portions were tiny and looked like diner food...of course, the kids are still hungry, so were sharing our food with them and trying to hurry and eat to get out of the there... the host, who had ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, does not even apologize...blaming the long wait on lack of staff...then he hands my husband the bill, including gratuity...are you kidding?!? i was and still am pissed...i even had a nightmare about the whole incident that night.... the point of our dinner was to show my father, who was in town visiting, a good time and treat him to good food...IT WAS A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT... I WILL NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN AND I DO NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO WASTE THEIR MONEY OR TIME AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT...IT NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!

NEVER AGAIN!!!! Behind their smiling faces this restaurant is out to give you the LEAST and take the MOST of your hard earned money. I went there with my wife having had seen this place before and we anticipated the experience little did I know how much wed end up paying and how lousy the service would be. They took us with a smile, directed us to our seats gave us a menu that really DIDNT OFFER MUCH, we decided on what we wanted and looked around for a waiter to take our order...finally we ordered. Some lady offered tarot reading which we werent into. She said it was free and I figured "ok, if it wasnt would it have come up in the bill?" My wife and I had somewhere to be around 8pm and we arrived rather early (6ish) so I knew we had more than enough time. Some guy came around and washed our hands, I thought it was nice. It gave it a more authentic feel. We waited and waited...finally I told them whenever the food would arrive that I would like it to go because it had been LONGER THAN AN HOUR. They said it be right out. When it arrived I was like WTF!! It was a little half chicken and my wife ordered the lamb. We ended up paying $80 with a FORCED gratuity for the SMALLEST PORTION OF FOOD I HAVE EVER SEEN! Seriously I hope someone out there reads this before its too late. If you want a fancy meal and a great experience go to the Sky Room in Long Beach or somewhere else. Anywhere but here.

We decided to be adventurous and try something that we’ve never had before! It turned out wonderful. My friends and I even ate dishes we had never had before! I tried rabbit for the first time and I’ll tell you, Thumper was amazing! (Besides his little itty bitty bones!) The restaurant was so beautiful, gorgeous rugs, gorgeous ambiance! The belly dancers were so hospitable and welcoming, she even gave my friend and I mini belly dancing classes. The owners were very friendly and accommodating! I would recommend this place to everyone! If you want a true Moroccan feel, combined with delicious food, yummy drinks and a wholesome feel, please do yourself a favor and check this littlie San Pedro staple out!

Yelp had a 50% off coupon, which we definitely took advantage of. Overall, this place was interesting but didnt provide a great dining experience. The seating is low, which fit the ambiance, and they did a pretty good job with the overall decor. However, the wait staff was only okay in both knowledge and attentiveness, and for the quality the food is way overpriced. The belly dancing was also okay, but it definitely felt very touristy. Would I recommend it? Sure, but only if have a coupon to discount the otherwise expensive food. I doubt many of the people are frequent diners though, as this is more of a "checklist" restaurant than a good place to eat.

Just tried this place today for dinner with my girlfriend. We used a groupon and got a great deal on the meal but would gladly go back without any special deal or promotion. We each tried the 6 course meals, they were unbelievably delicous and each course was an amazing experience along the way.. the food was soooo good. The belly dancer was awesome to watch as well, wasnt sure what to expect but the lady that performed killed it and made it super fun for everyone. Im so glad i finally got to check this place out and highly recommend it to anyone. Im not generally a fan of baklava but holy crap their baklava was amazing.
