After trying the Smoking Pig in Fremont I hooked up with a couple Yelpers (tonight) to try this one out. Apparently there are three locations of Smoking Pig BBQ one in Fremont one on 4th Street in San Jose and one on Newhall, also in San Jose near the San Jose Earthquakes soccer stadium. We showed up at 6:30 and waited about 15 min to get seated. #1. Service was fast and friendly 5 stars. #2. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which comes with coleslaw on it and you get a choice of a side order, I ordered their mac and cheese. The pulled pork sandwich was good, I felt they could have put more meat in the sandwich also I got one bite full of fat. Over all 3 stars. #3. The mac and cheese was good but the one in Fremont, to me was much better. 3.5 Stars. #4. I asked for water.. (tasted nasty, 1 star) #5. Wifey ordered a peach cobbler with ice cream (sorry I forgot to take a pic) it was warm and delish. 5 stars. Over all it was a good meal, Ill be back again.

My husband and I love the location on 4th Street but while we were out we decided to check this location out. Weve been to this location one or two more times since then. The food is just as delicious as the other location. The staff is friendly and attentive. For an appetizer I recommend getting the sampler so you can try smaller portions of more items. We like to get the nachos, wolf turds, and chicken lollies. My husband is a fan of the Parmesan Burger (too spicy for me but Im a wimp) and I recommend the ribs. They give you a lot of food so plan accordingly! We always end up taking some home. This location is bigger and also has a bar and a dedicated door for take out. Definitely nice touches! They also have a slightly different dessert menu.

Brisket was good but overly dry and barely warm. Pulled Pork was great. Wolf turds were fine but sadly, lacked any heat from the jalapeno. Hot links were good and spicy. Potato salad and Coleslaw side were both solid. I much prefer baby back ribs. Spare ribs were much more fatty. Good beer selection. Stupidly, there were multiple wines no longer carried on their menu. Service was great though the servers was unclear what Gluten Free meant and unaware of the significance of an allergy to gluten. If you are in the area, it is a fine place to stop for a great craft beer and some pulled pork.

I like the 4th Street location better because it feels more like a BBQ joint. Thats the only reason I gave it only 4. I come here when I can when Im in the area. Work brings me down the street from it alot. The food is great. The staff was friendly and good at their job. Meaning I usually dont have to wait for them to get me a refill or anything like that. Love the wolf turds, burnt ends and chicken pops. Actually Ive liked everything Ive ever had. Mmmm pulled pork. Though I would love it if they had a location closer to where I live in San bruno.

First thing. The food is good. I liked it a lot. The bartender was great. The servers were terrible. I had to go to the bar to refill my drink. Host was watching TV. Other server looked at me when I raised my empty cup but went back to chatting with some other server. She did come get my check because my server left to what I thought was to go get me a Togo box but I guess not because the one that wasnt my server told her to get me one.

This location is designed too modern/hipster and so it ends up not feeling like a BBQ joint. The vibe is a ordinary restaurant and not a "finger licking good" home town style like the 4th Street location. Maybe after being at the 4th Street location Im bias but the experience just wasnt nearly as good.

Well above average BBQ, though a bit pricey. Two meat combos are around $18. The brisket is good, though the ribs and hot links are the standouts. Four total sauces available (mustard based, spicy KC, honey BBQ), though the sauces are probably the weakest point (none are exceptional, though all good).

I usually order to go but I think theyre creative with the seating in the space they have andI like it. The parking lot is often busy but Ive never not found a spot. Their employees are not exactly service orientated but theyre not mean either. Food is delicious.

Best best best! Food is delicious and comes out fast. They messed up a couple orders (ordered brisket instead of spare rib), but the food came out so fast I wouldnt even say it detracted from my experience. All that, plus theres a full bar?! Come here ASAP!

Good food but portions are way too small for the price, my biggest complaint. Great service from one waiter but terrible from the rest of the staff, so that cancels out. No regrets trying it out but not special enough to be back.

Brisket was tender oh and the sauce. My favorite is the original. Nice and snappy hot link with a kick. The potato salad was good but to water, its madequate like a coleslaw. My meal was delight and I will be back.

Doesnt even come close to the last place looser in a Texas BBQ challenge. Un-Enthusiastic servers, dull atmosphere, dry tasteless food. Disappointed, was hoping I found a good BBQ joint in CA...

Amazing location but a bit too small. Love the Fremont location and this is a nice place. More of a lunch spot as the Fremont location is more of a dinner spot. Super fast and reliable service.

My chicken was rubbery, my companions pulled pork was over salted, the service was indifferent, the prices too high. The sauces werent bad, but were not going back just for sauces.

Nothing beats sucking down a wolf turd, or jumping onto a potato grenade before diving into some pulled pork or brisket. And theyre offering buckets of Dales Pale Ale!

Delighted the local hero is expanding, and doing it really well! New in this new place, theyre up to the full menu, and oh my yum yes. (Try the "burnt ends.")

It was okay. I got brisket, which was tasty but a little dry. Bartender seemed rude -maybe because of the game not going so well. Probably wont go back.

Really good food nice selection of beer and alcohol. This is the smaller of the 2 restaurants. Took a little while to get a table but was worth the wait

Of the two locations in San Jose this is the nicer. Great looking bar with a full menu of drinks. Great for pre/post partying with Avaya stadium.

Quite a step down from the original location. Food is still decent, but the service is lacking. Forgotten orders or mixed up dishes are common.

Pork ribs were good. Brisket, not so much. Their hot sauce alone garners a 4 star but the brisket hurt them. I mean, I smoke a better brisket.

Absolutely delicious BBQ food, four tasty sauces to experiment with. Only reason Im not going with 5 stars is because it felt a touch pricey.

Great food. Brisket is on point. 50% beef 50% fat is just right. Its tender and tasty. Service was so so..not bad service not great either.
