We came here during their soft opening and it was quite a mad-house. Lots of folks waiting by the door to get on the waiting list. The hostesses seemed overwhelmed with the requests. They should definitely employ pagers/buzzers -- it will help clear the area by the door. Weve been to Gyu-Kaku in Hawaii so we knew what to expect. We were hoping theyd have the all-you-can-eat option but all they have is a la carte thus far. They mentioned that AYCE may happen next year. Overall the meat quality was good. Our server, Karen, was very nice. She, too, seemed overwhelmed by the number of guests. Nonetheless, she did everything right -- checked on us regularly, filled our water, gave us a grill change. The only complain is that she had mistaken 2 meat orders as appetizers and never put in the meat request to the kitchen. The worst part was that took about 30 minutes before we received any meat to cook. Karen kept telling us the kitchen was a bit backed up. Seriously, how long does it take to cut up RAW meat?? the wait time was unacceptable in my opinion, but since this was a soft opening, most staff is likely still under training and Im willing to give this location another chance to itself. Overall it was clean and the staff was friendly. I have high hopes for it to succeed.

I came here several times when it first opened. Back then, you had to make reservations. Not sure how it is like now. The meats and veggies are very fresh and delicious, but the portions can be very small for the price compared to Korean BBQ establishments in the South Bay. It was just the right size for me, but I have been know to be a light eater. If you are unfamiliar with your cuts of meat, the wait staff can be very helpful in finding what you crave for that day. I especially liked the more marbled cuts for a more tender piece of grilled meat. I was most amused by the rice cake dessert. You place the little rice cakes on the grill and they puff up like popcorn, with a little charing on the sides. The little hard cakes become these little white chewy (like mochi) gooey morsels. I am sure kids would love to watch this.

Wanted to come to this place for a while and finally got a chance to go. Unfortunately came away unimpressed. We ordered a combo dinner course plus a few additional meats to grill. The meats all seamed to be over-seasoned. Especially their "Kobe Kalbi short rib" which looked great on the plate but was way too salty. Sometimes less is more. Limited cold sake menu. Seemed to advertise a lot of cocktails and hot sake. Perhaps this place is for the college crowd. They have happy hour specials and it seems like knowledgeable customers should be able to put together a good meal at a reasonable cost. Music is pretty trendy.

A delicious fusion of Japanese and Korean barbecue, Gyu-Kaku is a well-known and loved chain crossing the Pacific to bring you tasty grilled meat and veggies. Get in early for happy hour and always get the discounted special, they usually mark down some of the pricier cuts to reasonable prices then. Also ask your server what marinade goes well with each cut as they have a variety to choose from and order a big hot bowl of Bibimbap to start, itll fill you up while thinking of tasty beef to eat!

I enjoy this place a lot during their happy hours and lunch special. If you go in regular hours, most items are a but pricy but they do have generous offer in happy hour, usually before 5:30 and after 9:30pm. The decor is good and the grill is nicely designed so when you grill your stiff, the smoke is sucked away. Not really kids friendly since the grill can be really hot and you would be watching kids all the time but they do have high chair. Service is nice and they have outdoor seats.

Great happy hour! This place can definitely get pricey during regular hours. I always enjoy my experience here - all of their meat tastes amazing! Great happy hour prices for their drinks too. Ive had a bad experience waiting to get a table here before - so I recommend getting a reservation or at least be prepared to wait awhile. Pretty good spot for big parties of 6 or less.

Everything going on the grill was fresh and Hannah our waitress was great and accommodating. One complaint that prevented this becoming a 5-star experience was the Miso soup was cold when they were served and the green tea cheesecake wasnt cold enough (lukewarm and hard). So minor misses on the details plus a tad bit pricey in terms of value, but overall great dining experience.

Went here for happy hour. The service was excellent, and the food was very tasty. This was much better than the first time that we dined here, so we are hoping the first time was an anomaly in bad service. We ordered tons of food, several drinks, and the bill came under 60 for two people. Can easily get a filling happy hour meal for under 50!

My wife and I loved this place. Glad we did not go with one of the large sampler platters because we would never have finished it. Grilling your own meat table top style is always an experience, and in this instance a very pleasurable one. The ice cream macaroon was delicious and definitely worth a try at least once.

We like their food and the style from Asia to here! The lunch is good deal. The dinner could easily become big bill. Remember to cook the meat each side exactly 30 to 40 seconds otherwise you welcome carcinogens (if over) or loose bowl (for sensitive kind, if less)! This is the only inconvenience dining here.

Love this Japanese BBQ place!!. Been here a couple of times. Wide variety of items for grilling. They have vegetable options if your vegetarian. We usually got for a set menu lunch/dinner when its not happy hour. Tried everything here and loved it. We always get homoru and beef tongue.

Really good selection of food and the service is very helpful, they even inform you of how long you need to cook the meats for. Only thing for me was that the servings are a little smaller than I would have liked, but it didnt take away from the experience at all. Overall great food trip.

Great service and food. It is a wee bit pricey for most people though. I would recommend coming here at 3pm on mon-fri (Their lunch specials end at 4pm). You can get one of their cheaper lunch combos and pick up some cheap additional food with their 3-6pm discounts.

Food tastes great, and they have a mechanism to draw all the fumes away, so your clothes dont end up smelling like BBQ. But the service was just awful. They lost the order, then they lost the food, no consistent server... no one took ownership of the table.

Love this place. The worker are friendly and Ive been coming here many times. I always order the meat lover and come here around 9 because of happy hours. Area is clean and the way they set up the table are nice and neat. I have no complaint about this area.
