Went here for dinner and the entire meal was a disaster. We had a party of 4, and to list the problems briefly: Rice had tooth-breaking uncooked rice grains Salmon was extremely dry - overall flavorless, lacking salt Spaetzel was similar - flavorless and undersalted Forgot my wifes shrimp skewer ($6 add-on) - she received it after she had already finished her meal. These small mistakes by themselves are not a big deal - granted there are many but minor mistakes are forgivable. What was not forgivable was the quality of the shrimp we received and what happened after we mentioned it, which I will provide some detail for: The shrimp were mush - completely devoid of any shrimp-like texture. This was so bad I first questioned the safety of the shrimp - it may have been rotten. But then, given the fact that this shrimp skewer was with pineapple, I took a wild guess that the enzymes from the pineapple turned the shrimp to mush. Sadly this doesnt happen in a few hours - the shrimp probably sat in a container of its own juices (lets call it "marinating") for over 24 hours. The sad thing is that we mentioned this to the manager, only to have him tell us that this has happened before - that he often comps these shrimp skewers, and that he was unable to "change the recipe" because he is obligated to follow the one provided by his head-office. This is just non-sense in the truest sense. I dont believe that letting shrimp sit in pineapple enzyme for over 24 hours is in accordance with the recipe. If it was - then a small alteration to fix this problem is in order and definitely fine - make them each morning and keep them dry. Second, if the shrimp is known to be terrible (objectively), and returned by many guests - dont serve it to us and pretend like theres nothing wrong with it. How about a warning like "many guests dont enjoy that because the texture of the shrimp is very soft after marinating for X amount of time". For the $110 (+tip) I feel like we received a pretty lackluster experience this evening. At least it ended on a good note; we enjoyed the dessert (Chocolate brownie + creme brulee). Very disappointing

One of the first microbreweries in this area (arrived in the 80s) that helped popularized upscale food in a pub atmosphere. Its still standing, while many others have folded, and luckily, just in time for the new wave of craft beer joints that are popping up. Only GB beers are offered and Marzen is my go to pint. A full bar is also served, but stick with the beers. Food is very good (be sure to order the garlic fries). Spacious dining room, but grab a seat outdoors, weather permitting. A comfy courtyard surrounded by exposed brick walls in the middle of a bustling city. Enjoy hanging out in the early afternoon, partaking in food, drink, and conversation.

Love the food here great rich flavors. The drinks are okay (had a small gnat/fly in my margarita but it happens... and the replaced it fast). I have been here two times once for happy hour (today) and once for dinner a while back. I would say this place DOESNT do a good happy hour. The drinks are not really any special prices, the food is basically a list of items not special prices too. The types of food they havent arent really set up for sharing/slow snacking. And who puts slider (singular) on a menu. $3 for a single slider.... at least make it sound like a deal

Gordon Biersch is another nostalgic spot for me- they opened up around the time I was legally of drinking age. At the time their food was fantastic but as their franchise grew the food is just a step up from Applebees or Dennys. The outside courtyard was nice, and still looks that way, but Im usually discouraged from sitting outside as all I want from GB is beer now. Their beer is still very good. Atmosphere inside isnt particuarly nice- again just a step or two up from Dennys (a side note, why the hell do all bars have to have big TVs?!- I hate that.)

Lets me frank: the beer sucks. Its simply not good. For a brewery, the beer is the main reason to go there, but thats not the case here. However, the food is pretty tasty, the staff is awesome (after a couple of visits, theyll know you by name!), and the vibe is always great here, especially after a Sharks game or other crowd-gathering event. The open layout leads to tons of fun around the bar area, and during the summer time the patio area is very laid back, perfect for conversations with friends. Ive been going here for years, despite the beer.

I went there a few times for the food and beers. They were good. Service on the other hand, very unorganized and unprofessional. I contacted them three times to reserve a venue for a party. I was told to contact Steve to reserve a venue. He gave me the go around. Even said he had talked with me before. (BS). I was then told I was they were going to call me back. Never happened. Long story short, I dont support bad service like this. Last time I support this business. Hope you guys dont have a bad experience like I did.. SFuentes

Should have went to PF Changs next door instead. I think if we had tried some other dish we might have liked it. My Hefeweizen was pretty good...nice and tall. But the pepperoni & sausage pizza and crab artichoke dip appetizer were not very good...the pizza was greasy and the dip needed more flavor and COLOR. The waitress never cleaned away our dirty dishes and took forever just to put water on our table. Still I think if we had a burger or pasta dish this review might have been much better. Again, my beer was pretty good.

n生ビールが美味い。Golden import(ノーマル), dark(黒), Marzen(ハーフ&ハーフ?)

We gave 5 stars! The food was awesome and they have a gluten free/aware menu. Our server was on point and one step ahead of us. We were impressed! Definitely will go back and we recommend it fully to everyone. Their patio outside has a nice amount of shape and its just a really cool space to chill in. Only recommendation to mgmt is to get some gluten free to add to their menu. The Cider is good but not the drink you sit there and have 5 of.

“Magnifique” When visiting another country, its easy to feel unsure of oneself. Feeling unsure of oneself is difficult to do at this wonderful gem of a restaurant! Its hard to decide which makes the restaurant better the staff or the menu. Though the staff is truly what makes this restaurant a golden opportunity. Angela is an angel! Her commitment to excellent...

Ive been to seafood restaurants from Alaska to Norway to England to the Costa del Sol and back to Boston. Believe it or not, the most memorable fish and chips Ive ever had was at Gordon Biersch in San Jose. That was two years ago during the San Jose Jazz Festival. Im going back today for lunch to see if they still have those fantastic fish & chips.
