**Disclaimer** it has been a few months since enjoying the delicious toco of Puesto but I will try my best to give an accurate description of what I was feeling at that moment...** Came here on a taco tour... It was I believe stop 2 or three of tour... we were seated on the patio and they had all of our tacos all set for us... it was awkward and strange because the fire pit was so large and the place to set down your plate was so small around the fire pit that we essentially ended up eating off our laps... eh definitely not conducive to staying clean and avocado free... The grub a dub dub was fan freaking tastic... as well as the give me more drinks.... chicken and beef tacos were served... but I literally took a fork to the ceviche and hijacked one for myself... the guac served was out of this world too... MIND FREAKING BLOWING!!! the drinks kept flowing... they had a grapefruit margarita that I was getting very warm with and they just kept em coming... my kind of establishment! I will be back. and again and again and again and again... The Headquarters seems to be hitting home run after home run for the different establishments that it is housing! For sure!

We got here pretty late and the valet was closed. So we parked in the Seafood Village lot, that was $8.00 an hour. if you go a minute over an hour, you get charged the full hour. So if you plan for a long dinner and want to walk around, get their earlier so you can use the valet services. They start off with fresh salsa and chips. I order a Mercado salad, it was already 10pm and I didnt want something heavy. It was a great choice, there was just the right amount of crunch with the jicama. Others ordered the short rib, chicken in mole sauce and tacos. You get 3 tacos, select any meat you want, and you can upgrade your meat selection. The tortillas are made fresh and served warm with dishes. The main dishes came with rice which was way over cooked, mushy and almost one step away from being porridge. They rushed during the meal because we came right before the kitchen was closing. We were done eating and paid our check, there was still plenty of people sitting there drinking, but it was time to call it a night. We were sitting by the open door and it was starting to get a bit chilly.

Maybe its because the night was busy... But the hostess was rude to the person in front of me, gravely misjudged the wait time, the bathrooms were under stocked and not looked after, the price was significantly more than the current one $ rating would indicate. The salsa and chips are good. The zucchini & cactus tacos are good. But everything else seems to be just ok. The service is really not that great. The servers ignore you. The busboys were clueless about even what the bar seating area was and what was not. While at the bar, directly in front of me, the same person who said she couldnt answer our question about the menu because she wasnt a bartender, complained very loudly to her coworker about how she just wanted to go home and didnt want to be here. Now, I can understand that maybe its a rough night or you are tired or something, but *right* in front of a customer out loud?

Went for Taco Tuesday, which is, for Puesto, $2.50 tacos and $2.50 canned beer. CANNED BEER. Sheesh. I ordered one and quickly remembered why I never order canned beer. Anyway, back to the tacos. They were good--street taco style, which means soft shell, modest size. The table managed to order just about all the tacos on the menu. NOTE: they upcharge you for several varieties, like the lobster taco. So the lobster taco, on taco tuesday is $5. Not really a hot deal when you see the size (small). Back to the quality...Pretty good, tasty, non-traditional (read: yuppie American fare). Chips were free and were good, as was the salsa. Drinks were OK and (except for the lame canned beer) typically (for the area) overpriced. On the whole, this isnt an amazing experience or an amazing deal. But if youre stuck in the Convention Center area on a Tuesday, you could do a whole lot worse.

“Great Atmosphere in a Great Location” My daughter Madelines birthday dinner was here at her request. She had been here before with friends and was raving about it. She is normally very picky about recommending a restaurant to the family so I knew it must have had something special. When we walked up to the restaurant my youngest daughter Frannie told us that she had just had an interview here and was hoping for a call back. The location is in the old Police Headquarters in downtown San Diego near Seaport Village, so plenty of history there. Outdoor seating was very nice, plenty of room in the restaurants area and plenty of room inside as well. Tacos are the focal point of the menu and they dont disappoint. The drinks were not weak and the staff was very nice. We had a great time and will certainly go back soon. Hopefully more often if my daughter starts working there ☺☺☺☺

Came here Friday night. The place was packed, but got a table, tucked away in an upstairs corner, after about half an hour. I ordered an agua fresca at the bar, and it was pretty tasty. I wanted to order the Mezcal Pickled Watermelon as an appetizer, but they were out! Instead, I ordered the Lamb Sopes, which were yummy - but then I didnt have room to eat my tacos! For dinner, we each ordered a trio of tacos (they arent offered a la carte --at least theyre not listed on the menu). Tacos were tasty, but I had a hard time telling which was which! The Valle de Guadalupe wine flight was not my favorite. The L.A. Cetto Sparkling white I did not enjoy at all. The Puesto Valle Blanc was a nice white. And the Puesto Valle Red would probably be good for port lovers wanting to have a red with dinner. Overall, a nice night, but bill was a bit pricey for such a casual place.

Nice place to chill but lacking in the restaurant aspect of the business. Ive had a chance to come back a few times. The venue is terrific! Killer location in a gorgeous area with an open airy space, but the food... It has has been good to tolerable. A lot of their tacos are made with lots of cheese which makes them unnecessarily greasy. Their prices are understandably inflated, but not proportionate to the quality of the product. There is no spice heat, kind of a break in tradition for Mexican cuisine. And lastly, they dont do take out orders over the phone. Which means if you do not wish to eat in, you must wait at the bar an unusually long time for simple tacos. I suppose Puesto is not concerned with the basic purpose of a restaurant. The place has a good thing going but they just lost my lunch business, and that makes me sad because their ceviche is fantastic

Had the chance to try some tacos last night at Puesto. It has a cool inside/outside airy fun vibe to it and its location in The Headquarters couldnt be better. We ate on the patio which was comfortable, but a little awkward eating with a plate on your lap. Youre bound to spill some salsa on your pantalones. The little ledge/firepit didnt provide much room that we needed for our fat boy taco tour. Now, lets get down to brass tacks...the tacos were delicious. We had the chicken and the beef (mole?) tacos and they were both delicious. But the star of this meaty taco pageant was hands down the ceviche. Gimme a bowl of it and Ill take that stuff to bed and get nasty with it...it was that good. I also had the house margarita and it was just o-k. If youre feeling some good tacos and positive colorful vibes and people watching, Puesto is your place.
