El Sol Mexican Restaurant is an outstanding cafe in the North Park area. Chef "Nacho" takes great pride in making his customers some of the most delicious food available anywhere in San Diego. My Wife loves the Chile Colorado Burrito, while I enjoy the Double Cheese Burger and the Shrimp Quesadilla. Nacho always supplies everything that a diner might want in the "Takeout Bag" including condiments, napkin and plastic dinnerware. The serving staff is very prompt, attentive and courteous. The restaurant is easy to get to at 2037 University Avenue, but the parking is a little difficult. Menu prices are VERY reasonable; $5-$10 each.

I have been a patron of this great establishment since I first moved to San Diego. The name drew my attention, the food has kept me loyal. The menu has the basic American/Mexican diner staples but the quality is what sets the food apart. From the New York strip to the clear ice cubes, this place is truly a beautiful reminder of an old world. The best part though is the man in the back, an old timer that isnt afraid to give you s#!t but will make you a dish off the menu as long as he is in a good mood. Best restaurant in San Diego to go if you want an amazing meal at a fair price.

Its not called El Sol anymore is it? Nacho! Famed Nacho from Dannys bar and grill in Coronado bought his own restaurant years ago. So, not only are you getting some of the best authentic Mexican food in uptown, youre getting the opportunity to have Bill Clintons favorite burger, the Slam Burger. I like this little restaurant, and when I lived on Georgia, a sit down meal here was the norm. Dont miss Nachos home made salsas as they are the best in town. Hands down, the best home made salsa in town.

Not that great. Last time I went there I ordered a Flying Saucer. I was the only customer there at first then one other customer. It took awhile for my food to come. The food was cold, the meat looked a little undercooked and the tortilla was soggy. I wont be going back. I live so close to it. Too bad it wasnt a better place to eat.

Pretty good food coming from LA chose this place based on reviews didnt disappoint small cozy place good food everything tasted fresh one place is enough to get full and they sell have a liter coke like Mexico for better quality will be back when Im in town again

I have been going to this spot FOREVER. I used to go when it was called El Sol. I love the food, the salsa is yummy, the carne asada burrito is my favorite in town! Total hole in the wall with 5 or 6 tables but they offer friendly service and great food!

Unassuming hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant that definitely holds its own in a city littered with taco shops in every neighborhood. I swear by their enchiladas but tgeir burritos are no joke. Anything you choose is sure to be a home run.

Stop by, sit down and enjoy some tasty mexican food. Make sure to try the Chicken Mole and the Sopes! If someone in your party is not in totally Mexican mood, try one of the burgers; very flavorful. No drive through Accept Credit
