Disclaimer: I am a Peets fan. But I will always try out a new cafe! So since Peets just across the road was jam packed and noisy, I thought I would try out Temple. Love the ambiance of the place. Retro tunes were playing, with white and dark brown tones dominating the modern yet classic interior and outside the umbrella-shaded seating is inviting. I had the Americano - if you order the traditional version ($2.60), it is more like a long espresso. Non-traditional adds a bit more hot water for the same price. The roast they used was a bit on the fruitier side for me - I am more a fan of South American blends with their deeper, chocolatey taste. (Hence, Im a Peets fan.) Spouse got the mocha ($4.60!) which was good, but for the price would have wanted more of a kick. The chocolatey taste did not compare to the depth of some mochas that Ive sampled. To top that off, you are charged $.35 to use debit, regardless of how much you spend. We werent informed of this, but I saw a sticker on the machine. And when you do swipe your card, the first screen that pops up asks how much tip you want to give. So the first reaction is guilt if you dont tip and then you feel cheated because of the $.35 extra charge. In any case, I cancelled the entire transaction to avoid feeling guilty and angry and just paid with cash. Service was a bit formal and the girl at the register was not amused at me cancelling the debit card transaction. You could tell. So, for nearly $8 if you pay with debit card you can get two coffee drinks without a tip. Ouch! I can see how this place has potential though for its clientele who are not as price-sensitive and/or prefer an alternative to the larger chains. As for me, Im glad I tried out this spot, but I know what I like!

@templecoffee #SocialMediaDay Decently busy at 715am on a Thursday. I was perplexed by their coffee barrista making process. Seemed like an oddly way to go about it. Was a slow go. Two employees working the line with one making the espresso shots (excellent use of the tamper) while other prepped a few beverages and ran the register. Iced Americano with less water made for a goodly strong and refreshing beverage. They had a nice selection of coffee to purchase. I did not easily notice a menu of offerings but I know what I wanted. Small selection of pastries were available. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Twas a relaxing time on the patio spent in the shade sipping beverage on a coolish morning. Straightforward: coffee. Taste it up. Youll be gad you did.

Great little coffee or tea shop. Big veriety of teas you can buy. Custom blends made while you wait. The very friendly staff will guide you through the selection helping you choose just the right one for you. Outlets at every seat for laptop users. Usually packed with people working on their laptops. Nearly everyone seated was on a laptop. There are two larger locations downtown as well.

Temple is one of the top two roasters in town. This location is usually packed, but if you dont mind standing in line for twenty minutes then you will have a nice selection of pastries to choose from when you order your cappuccino or single origin pour over. Great selection of single origin African coffees. Atmosphere 5/5 Staff 5/5 Coffee 5/5

Great coffee and fresh beans, but Im not sure Im hipster enough to come come here. Guy is friendly, but I always feel out of place because my pants are too loose and I dont have a tattoo on my neck. Besides that, baked goods are fresh and tasty and the guy actually knows what a double short Americano is, five stars for the food and drink.

Great coffee but dont expect to sit. Theres about ten places to get a seat and their monopolized by people on laptops. They sit there all day brandishing every Apple product they own to take up one table. I bet youd even see someone wearing a Apple hat and jacket one day. Just joking around but truthfully theres rarely anywhere to sit.

Sunday Temple is a must! Tried Cappuccino which looked cool with the foam art and was a perfect temperature for a gourmet espresso. Popular spot so no seats available, a boutique cafe with great staff greeted pleasantly and immediately given espresso bean options. Parking available right outside :)

Used to come here for just the Thai iced tea, until it started tasting like chai. Even registers on the iPad as Thai so I know theyre not hearing me wrong. Ask for Less Half & Half and they still load drink with it. Coffee is always too watery and now the Thai tea sucks.

So tasty! It is upscale and expensive but a great treat with plenty of selection. I enjoy the outdoor seating and the scene is nice for a small gathering with friends or studying if you dont mind the traffic and sounds of coffee and tea brewing

Temple is a very well known establishment in the Sacramento area. This particular location has a great warm/homey atmosphere to it, but is smaller than other coffee houses. The coffee is so good, however, that no stars are lost

They make the drinks super fast, but sometimes it takes a pretty long while for the cashier to take payment. Theres not usually a huge line, but its a small place and gets cramped often. The pastries and drinks are great!

Delicious coffee and lattes. A little hip for my liking. This spot is typically filled with college students studying. I only get things to go at this location. The lattes are very smooth and the milk is steamed well.

Very trendy, pricey coffee. It tasted fantastic though. I got a dark roast and instead of bitter watery coffee I got full flavor nutty roasty flavors. If you can look past the hipstery feel its definitely worth a try.

One of the best shops to get coffee in Sacramento. Baristas are highly knowledgeable about the different roasts that are offered in the café. My favorites from here are a traditional latte or dirty chai latte. Enjoy!

Staff lady laughed when I asked for whip cream. Service got terrible as soon as i didnt tip. Tip what? Overpriced and watered down coffee. On the plus side, I now have a working example of the word pretentious.

Great coffee and good pastries. Cant go wrong with this place. They take coffee pretty serious. Also, got two of their mugs and couldnt be happier with an expensive mug. They are awesome.

Great coffee, quick service, friendly staff, and nice ambiance. The number of younger folks planting themselves with their computers can be frustrating in the afternoons.

Great coffee that is seen in every temple shop, this is the smallest and least "cool" of the three shops so great for Togo drinks but go to a different location to chill

Great REAL coffee! If you want starbucks-type coffee, this is not the place for you. Vanilla latte, dirty chai latte, teas, and cold brews. This is the place for you!
