My family took me here for my birthday as we are all pizza afficionados, I love thin-crust pizza, and the reviews were good. This place doesnt even deserve one star--it was a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT with extremely poor service and horrible food. The first server (teenaged male--family, perhaps?) we had quickly forgot about us, which was weird because the place is so tiny. So a teenaged girl waiting on the table next to us took our order after we waved her down. An older gentleman delivered drinks and food to us. We had to ask for utensils. Also, no one bothered to check on us--maybe because the food was so horrible and they knew it. I ordered the Gina, which came with several small and indescribable lumps of cold, soggy, bitter, greasy, very inedible eggplant. Clearly they scrimp on toppings, but there was not even one pine nut,as was advertised as an ingredient on the menu. Also the metalic taste of the canned tomato sauce they used was so strong, it almost seemed they had steeped pennies in it. I almost said sauteed, but it was clear this sauce came straight from the economy size can at Costo onto the pizza. The kids ordered a pepperoni, which was okay, as the crust was decent, but with just several pieces of pepperoni and maybe 2 tablespoons of cheese. Also, the food cooled very quickly. I believe it was not freshly made, but was reheated, and not very thoroughly at that. Each pizza was most definitely not worth the hefty $13 or $14 price tag. Since we were going to a movie and no one bothered to see how we were doing, we ate as much as we could of the dismal meal to make the movie on time. When my son went to pay, he had to track the waitress down. She said sorry for the poor service, but it wasnt her table. When I went to complain after that, she told me she was the manager! So first she explains poor table service by saying it wasnt her table, and then she turns out to be the supposed manager??? Did she say this to avoid a complaint to the real manager? This place is close to our house and we would go regularly if it was at all decent. Instead, inexcusably poor service, and disgusting food makes it a place to STAY CLEAR AWAY FROM. I am honestly mystified why others think it is so good. Did the owners family supply all the other reviews? I would never go here again no matter what.

If youre looking for a cute date night spot this is it! The pizza is great, unique, and the place is super cute. It is small so be prepared as it does get loud if you choose to sit inside. The downside is its a little pricey. I wish they didnt charge so much for beer and wine and it would really be nice to have a bigger selection to choose from. But, I think they are going for a small "home like" feeling. The pizza is always amazing though and youll get plenty for the price. We also always get the Rosemary Bread with Dipping Oil, but if you get this ask the server for the spicy oil too. Trust me youll love it! As for my favorite pizza... the Gilda is amazing!!! Dont let the anchovy persillade scare you its amazing and so yummy. The Triana is also super good, the chorizo is cooked just right... add the spicy dipping oil on top for a little kick. The staff has always been very sweet and on top of things. We have never been disappointed with this cute little joint hidden in Sac Town. If you dont want to do a date night, take the kiddos! Its also family friendly.

Worst. Pizza. Ever. I kid you not folks I was there today and I have to say at first they were not going to serve me (as there was a "private" party there but the door was wide open... ok? If its private.. close the door!) But after much deliberation they were like ok sure.. we can serve you (instead of waiting the 1/2 hour til 5). I should have went elsewhere. The pizzas were not even considered mediums (they were small), the toppings were pretty much NON existent and the crust was soggy and thin as HELL. Granted people are wondering why I am bashing on this so much? I am FROM NYC. I have had REAL pizza (I have eaten at Lombardis and Grimaldis) and as for being real pizza.. THIS AINT IT. Go elsewhere. Hell id rather have Little Casers than this place.. at least with that you GET what you PAY for.

Ive driven back and forth on Riverside Blvd for years and have wondered what Masullo was. All you see is a awning with a leaf design and "MASULLO" on it. I finally googled and found out, and the next day I was in to order a American pizza (pepperoni and mozarella) with sausage and bacon added. All I can say is SUPERB! The pizza of my dreams, bar none. The high quality fresh ingredients really stand out and the taste and texture of my pizza was absolutely perfect. Its the quintessential east coast pizza, foldable and delectable. Nothing Ive had in pizza for the last 20 years comes close. The staff was attentive and friendly. I will be back again and again.

Amazing food! Everything was so fresh and so delicious I couldnt stop eating even though I was full. I felt sad not being able to eat it all and then I remembered I could take it home and have some later . I got the Margherita and my friend had the Pepperoni. We both felt the same about our pizza. We also got the Caprese Di Burrata for appetizer (my mouth is watering just thinking about it), it was amazing!I highly recommend it. Not only the food was awesome, but the staff were so nice and friendly, it felt very comfortable and welcoming. I enjoyed my entire experience at Masullo Pizza and will definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Just what this area needed! I live around the corner from this place and I gotta tell ya, in this economy and bleak times, this place really hit the spot. Not expensive and pretentious, just quaint and delicious---in fact, these "personal sized" pizzas are big enough to share. The wait staff has told me that the menu changes according to local seasonal availability and I love that. My favorites are the frisee salad, the margherita pizza, and the pear crisp (??? not sure what its called)...other favorites are the Lupe and the Jacqueline pizzas. The wait staff is incredibly prompt, competent, and helpful.

If you want obscenely large pizzas covered with tons of mediocre ingredients, this is NOT your place. But if you want an individual-sized pizza that tastes like those heavenly ones of Naples, Italy, where pizza was invented, then try MASULLO. Pizzas are the best in Sacramento, maybe all of the U.S. The salads, veggie dishes and desserts are also excellent. Sacramento is lucky to have Masullo. Owner Robert Masullo, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, visited Naples four times to study the ways of the oldest and best pizzerias is the world. It shows.

Unique and quality neighborhood restaurant specializing in wood fired pizza. We tried the Rosemary bread with olive oil for an appetizer and could taste the care with which the ingredients were selected and it was prepared. The pizza was no different and leaned a bit to the sweeter side both in the sauce and sausage. Just enough toppings to provide the flavor and not an over-abundance of cheese. The decor was modern, simple, and clean. If I lived closer, it would go back often. Solid choice.
