I love vegetarian restaurants. I have tried the Happy Family restaurant in the Monterey Park and have had very good experiences there. We assumed this was a restaurant by the same owner, so gave it a shot. We ordered a few lunch special dishes, as well as some other entrees. The Eggplant Basil was decent, at best. Kung Pao Chicken was 50% peanut and water chesnut, and was generally lacking in flavor. The Tofu in Herbal sauce with goji berries was, hands down, the most disgusting tofu/vegetarian dish I have ever had. I dont know how they managed to make it taste like lamb, but they did...and not in a good way. Keep in mind, this was not a vege-lamb dish, but a tofu dish. All the food showed up just a moment after ordering, which is a pretty good indication that the food is not fresh. The only dish that took longer to arrive than the others was the vegan tiramisu, which I looked forward to trying, since all the ingredients were listed on the table. Turns out, the reason we got the tiramisu awhile after we ordered it isnt because they were making it fresh or putting aesthetic touches to it, but merely because they forgot that we ordered it - the tiramisu was completely frozen. If youre thinking about going to a Happy Family restaurant for vegetarian food, do yourself a favor and make the trek out to the Happy Family in Monterey Park - definitely different (and much more efficient, as well as talented) owners.

Lunch special are about $5.25 per dish where you get an array of different combos. Rice, congee, toasted chinese bread, and soup. My family and I use to come here all the time, but the service went down and theyre food quality is just not up to par from what we are use to. Even so, we couldnt pass up on the special..we came and each entree literally came out 10-20 minutes at a time. I like it when my plate of food as a mixture of different variety. What wounded up happening is I get one plate of vegetables..finish it and then another will come out. What really ruined my experience here was that they totally forgot to bring out our last plate of food? They were quite busy during lunch but looking all around us everyone got there food except us? The odd part was that the lady serving us remembered us from before and was super courtesy and nice but the mistake happened to us? I hate to give good customer service low scores but what happened really was not acceptable.

Friends and family encouraged me to try this place out after they praised the food. I may have to reconsider all future restaurant suggestions. This place failed at the most basic level. Bad service with our server being just rude when I questioned him about some of their specials. Took more than a few times to get water and even then it felt as if I was in there way and should give up our table. When our food showed up it got worst. We ordered six different items, all of them were disappointing and just bad. Never again. When I complained to the manager or someone who says they were the manager they did not care and refused to adjust my bill. After more than twenty minutes with them arguing with me they finally adjusted my bill. I gladly paid and will never return. Nor should you give it a try.

Love this place! My families favorite vegetarian restaurant on Colima. Were typically order the Mushroom house chicken and sizzling plate. Mushroom chicken has a good texture compared to regular chicken. The Sizzling plate gives you a wide array of their vegetarian meats in one delicious gravy covered plate.

Cute spot...love the decor in side :) service is great...you should be adventurous and try some of their specialty meats ~ like frog legs! Yummmm! Try it with the Garlic Sauce, Medium Spicy. Enjoy!
