The matte black and industrial finishes of this business creates a simple coffee experience for boutique coffee connoisseur. Although, the decor is almost too sparse to feel like you can relax and unwind. With lunky couches taking up the middle of the room, seating is limited unless you feel comfortable snuggling with your company and sitting across from strangers. The overall price for a latte is expected for a boutique roasting company in Southern California. I wish the company had remained "The Fika Company" for two reasons. First, the meaning behind Fika encourages an experience rather than a product and capitalistic exchange. Secondly, the paint job over the original sign is a sore sight now. If you can appreciate in-house coffee roasting and handle bar mustaches, this is the coffee shop for you.

Well. Worth. The Wait. . Maxwell and the counter crew have the chops to really stretch out in the depths and drive a lively conversation on the Columbian coffees and on the farms they work with and hope to work with and on current company goals. I appreciate it and I can tell I’m going to learn a lot. . I just hope the economics of a fresh new coffee business model, in an untested but welcoming neighborhood, allows Fika to continue to go way, way, way off the common path to keep up their absolute quality. The sugar & whipped coffee types may be a lost cause. But the truly curious coffee people will want to take a little time to learn the real virtues. It could happen here. . I’m already a believer on just my inaugural run.

My wife and I were visiting family in Redondo Beach and it was suggested we walk over here for Sunday morning lattes. In fact our brother-in-law raved about their coffee so we made the trip. Its a big friendly space inside and some classic Jimi Hendrix Experience was gently cranking out as we arrived.Joseph at the front counter took our coffee orders and explained they roast their coffee beans in house. The 4 of us found a table near the front window while Collin prepared our drinks. Our 3 salted caramel lattes tasted very smooth with a very subtle flavor. One of us also enjoyed a chai tea latte. It was a very pleasant experience coming here and we would not hesitate to return.

I was so excited for this place to open. I live down the street and was waiting for a cool coffee place to open up and hang out at. Well, this place is cool. Looks great, the staff is awesome. The owner is super nice and I really want this to work for him. Problem is, it was the worst latte I can remember ever having. I figured it was just a bad day, so I went back 3 more times. And every time it was like I was drinking luke warm milk. They had me try two different espressos and it was the same. Maybe Ill try again in a month and see if they figured this out.

My happy place; Busy or quiet; Humming with conversations Or Silence. Delicious chai latte, Comfy couches, & Palm tree silhouettes against The sunset colors before closing. Nice people on both sides of the counter, fresh juices, immunity boosters, cool travel mugs & Tshirts. Nordic Lights brown glass jugs, & Im sure the coffee is perfect, roasted on site, flown directly from friends Farms in Columbia... I love The Boy & The Bear Even though I dont drink coffee.

I come to this coffee shop multiple times per week. Ive gotten to know the owner Andreas and he always has great recommendations for drinks. Ive not been disappointed with a drink Ive gotten here. I typically get either a pour over of one of their specialty coffees or I get a breve ristretto latte. I also recommend any of their hot teas. This is the only store that I buy coffee by the pound from. If youre in the area give this place a try.

Cool (the coffee not the place) - this is a very hip place but on the day we were there the young woman behind the counter couldnt be bothered to engage with us much, even when we said it was our first visit. They dont serve their coffee very hot (i know you need to avoid scalding coffee but it needs to be warm enough to qualify as a hot drink).

Im not sure what the hype is about. Its a total bummer since this place is just 5 min walk from our house and we were eagerly anticipating their opening. Coffee is too acidic for my taste and pastries are stale. Cool decor, but thats about it for me. Gave this place 3 tries. Rather drive a little down to Peets or walk to Wholefoods.

First off, I love coffee, and never met a cup I couldnt finish. That is until I tried the cold brew at this place! Was oddly sour and overly bitter. The staff is nice and the place has a cool atmosphere. The coffee was just not good and my friend who was with me was of the same opinion. We both could only manage to drink half the cup.

My daughter and I went here with a close friend. We were fortunate enough to meet with the owners. They shared that they created this well designed coffee spot to invite people to slow down and enjoy coffee as opposed to drinking it on the run. Five stars! Love it. They know their coffee. Love the friendly neighborhood.

Specialty of the month was not a coffee drink, which is super exciting if youre not a coffee drinker like me. Mixed hot chocolate and chai? Yes, please. Friendly staff, lots of natural light and people on laptops but not crowded on a weekday. A bit of street noise. Learned what direct trade coffee is here.

Coming from Portland, I have been searching for a place for excellent beans as well as excellent brewing in the Southbay. I have found it! I am excited to try the natural process beans which are my favorite and hard to find in the area. Thanks for offering great coffee in Southbay!!!

I went to visit during their soft opening last week. Great specialty coffee roaster. The owner has put a lot of effort into getting beans direct from the farms of Colombia. They had a few different varieties to try all cups made to order. Cant wait for the grand opening!

Such a great little coffee shop! Cozy and beautifully designed, the boy & the bear offer a variety of beans that they roast themselves. Enough tables and couches for studying or to just hang out. I recommend their Stockholm fog, a mix of mocha and chai.

Tried this place on my sons recommendation and loved it so much we bought the Vibrant blend espresso beans to take back to Arizona. Weve made our morning lattes for years and these beans rank as one of the best. Will be ordering more for sure.

Great local coffee spot in Redondo Beach. The Coffee is imported directly from Colombia, and you can see the sacks of coffee behind the counter... It doesnt get any fresher. You will also find an eclectic mix of friendly patrons.

Super excited to find a specialty coffee place in the southbay! Had a great super-smooth Latte and a black coffee. Both lighter roasts which always tastes better to me than dark roast which usually tastes burned.

Good coffee but expensive. Only Columbian beans. Batista seemed indifferent to me trying to order a drink. Had the check his phone while I was trying to pay him. Very sterile hipster feel to the cafe area.

If youre in the mood for consistent, quality, Colombian coffee then this is the place to go. All the beans are roasted in house and have that chocolatey and nutty flavor associated with Colombian coffee.
