I like this restaurant for a few reasons. First of all, the service here is attentive and friendly. Secondly, the restaurant has hibachi and that is always fun to watch. I also like it is spacious with full bar and TVs on playing sports (Warriors!). We were here on Sunday for lunch and got seated right away at 12:30PM so that was a huge plus in my book with no wait. They have a huge variety of rolls and you know that is mostly because this place isnt operated by Japanese but that is fine. I love my Americanized maki rolls. Nevertheless, I ordered Kobe roll even though I was a bit deterred by the high price tag at $16. When the roll arrived, I was surprised there were about 12 pieces, or more pieces than I remembered to count. It had a nice and tender seared piece of kobe beef on top and below is basically crab avocado roll with special sweet soy paste. I was more than satisfied after eating the majority of the roll. My husband ordered the Dinner box but it was available for lunch too and I saw a few tables went for that option probably for the sheer amount of options you got. He got the Tonkatsu box with fried chicken karage, 4 pieces of Alaska roll and rice. There were so much food! I tried a piece of fried chicken and I really liked it. For my son I ended up getting him a stir fry udon with pork belly and we all loved it! The udon was chewy and tasty and the pork belly to my surprise, was juicy, tender and flavorful. We ended up packing the udon to go because it was huge. We are happy we found Kobe and we will return to try other rolls and perhaps even their Happy Hour. It was a pleasant dining experience.

4/26/13 TODAY IS NOT A HOLIDAY I grew up off of Oak Park Boulevard so it always interestes me when something new comes to this Plaza across from Safeway. When Kobe was new to the plaza, I was very happy with their lunch specials and bento box meals. Lunch specials are available Monday through Friday. A co-worker of mine made the place a favorite and we kept talking about getting lunch together here some time. That lunch never took place. And for different reasons neither her nor I will probably be going back. For me, there are just other bento box lunches closer to my home now, and the food here isnt worth going out of my way. Plus, there was an afternoon that I had off work and readied for lunch. A holiday fell on a Sunday and was being recognized on the subsequent Monday for our office. I came in and ordered a lunch special but was told its not available weekends or holidays. I stammered that today wasnt a holiday but obviously they were too worried about all the people off work swarming their empty restaurant. At least if that ever happened, they had an extra seat for the crowd, because I got up and left.

I liked this place. My wife and I went up to see a friend and her fiance. we ate here one night and enjoyed great tasting food. we went Jan18. it was a good experience and the food was well prepared to each persons desires at the Hibachi area. Both Sushi and Hibachi were great. If someone is in the area and wants Japanese, this is a great place to eat. This was my first Hibachi and I would come here again. Parking in this area is somewhat limited in the evenings when lots of people go out to eat as it is shared between many places, so carpool. I had the Calimari Steak. It was a pair of slabs that hit the hot plate and started jumping. It was so funny. The cook made a heart and cupids arrow for the bride and groom to be with oil and lit it on fire. He made an awesome onion ring volcano that erupted in flames. Parties are well taken care of.

We had absolutely no expectations when we walked in, but this place was both fun and delicious. Sharing one of the larger "deluxe" items proved to be an excellent choice. I shared the Hibachi Ninja (shrimp, chicken, and filet mignon) and two orders of veggie fried rice with my wife and the portions turned out just right for the two of us. Everybody in our group seemed to be enjoying their food but I think the filet mignon was the consensus choice for "best dish"

Our family enjoys the sushi and bento boxes for lunch and the hibachi for special occasion dinners. The sushi is amazing with a wide range of creative options, including many that are spicy or even deep fried. The tempura is light and delicious. The hibachi combines food and entertainment by the chef. Our family favorites are the filet, shrimp and spicy chicken. Attentive service for both lunch and dinner.

Incredible rolls, SUPER fresh sashimi and exceptional service. We sat at the sushi bar and the chef "tom" was extremely attentive. Not only did he make us a special chef special roll but he gave us some apps "on the house". Usually sushi places have really good rolls OR really good sashimi. This spot has BOTH. Full bar, incredible food and excellent service. This is my new regular spot.

Great place for entertainment and some of the best sushi. I love a good Lion King and theres certainly pleased my palette. The family took me here for Mothers Day this year. We sat at the Chef table. One of the family members hates mushrooms, imagine that. After the chef got through cooking for us hes a lover from now on. I loved my special day with the family and great food.

Found Kobe Japan on a hunt for good sushi. My husband is particular about his fish and I am particular about my teriyaki steak. The fish is fresh. The steak is actually steak (rather than carne asada with teriyaki pored on it) and it has been the only sushi restaurant that we frequent since we found it 4 years ago.

Had an order of the Mixed Vegetable Roll ($6): lettuce, cucumber, avocado, daikon & asparagus. Also had an order of the Seaweed Salad Vegetable Roll ($6): lettuce, gobo, oshinko, seaweed salad, & kanpyo. Food was delicious, staff was laid-back, and an the ambiance was spacious.

Love the bento boxes for both lunch and dinner. The sushi rolls and sashimi dishes are great. Terry and the staff are friendly and the chef is accommodating for my gluten allergy. Have brought many of my friends and families here and they have all enjoyed their meals.

Solid happy hours with some good food and drink specials. Happy hour is from FOUR to 6, even though reviews say they open at 5. The bar and happy hour menu starts at 4. I submitted the change to google.

I love this place. Its like three restaurants in one: tapenyaki, sushi bar, standard Japanese fair. Its got a great sports bar to boot. Its my go to place in the neighborhood.

A nice gem hidden in south pleasant hill, very reasonable prices and good portions, they have three sections. One is sushi, the other is hibachi, and low key bar section.
