Ive had some great BBQ and this place is one of the best if you want the full restaurant experience. We drove up and saw all the parking spots were taken. Oh no! Turns out they have complimentary valet (WHAT!?). Awesome. We walk in and theres a 25 minute wait. Lame! Oh, theres a full bar where I can grab a drink to wait? Awesome. We order our food and it comes quickly from a generous server. The meat is piled high and drips with juice. There are 4 BBQ sauces to choose from. I went with spicy. I covered it and it was plenty spicy! We ordered a pull pork sandwich and a prime rib sandwich. Both were great and super tender. Sweet Potato fries were plenty good and BBQ sauce made the experience. I was so stuffed I couldnt eat more so I ordered a bread pudding. One fat, hot slab with sauce. Delicious. Im out!

Had lunch there last week. Great bar area. The food, however was not great. Had the brisket and pork ribs lunch combo. Every part of the lunch was below average. The onion rings were crisp but lacked flavor. The Balsamic vinegarette was aweful. The ribs and the brisket REALLY lacked flavor and the barbecue sauce was below average. While the meat was perfect in texture, it was flavorless by good BBQ standards. I think they need more smoke and a lot more dry rub. The best word I can use to describe the meat was bland. Very weak. What a disappointment because the facility is great. At least my beer was cold. This place has nothing on Bos Barbecue in Lafayette. Not even close. I wouldnt go back. Period. They definitely need to go back to the drawing board in the kitchen...

I had an experience last night that I found completely avoidable. The portions of the "sliced barbeque beef" were very small, as my friend got the same thing and his was at least 20% more than mine. The waitress said I had gotten 1/4 lb the minimum, which was just too little. I complained, asked for the manager, she wasnt budging, she won the battle but lost the war. It takes a lot to get a customer to even go to a restaurant with so many choices, but Ill never go back. Look at the revenue they lost. Her correct response should have been, Im so sorry let me take care of it! Everybody would have been happy, and not lost a customer. For a couple of extra slices of beef? The manager chided, beef prices are really high? Really?

I have been to Back Forty several times over the last year and have always enjoyed the food until last night. Usually I would give the place a break and not write a bad review but last night was just too far from the norm. The steak was way overdone and dry. The scalloped potatoes tasted sour but the cesar salad was good. The only reason I did not send the meal back was that I did not have the time to wait for another meal to be cooked. The service took a long time to get to us but was good once things got started. This is an expensive place to eat and certainly was not worth the money this trip. This experience was so sub-par I doubt I will be going back.

The decor is good. It is usually cold in this restaurant so bring a sweatshirt. The food is pretty good but I am fairly picky with my BBQ. Ive had a lot of BBQ across the country in several regions and although this states it is Texas BBQ, I found it a little more like midwest BBQ. Texas BBQ has a Chili sauce taste and is a bit runny but their sauce here is a little sweeter and thicker. They do have some signature sauce that is an interesting flavor. Prices are pretty reasonable. Beans are good and have a Texas flavor (ranch beans). I wish they had Jalapeno cornbread like Im used to in Texas. So far, this is the best BBQ place I have found here.

I drive all the way from Berkeley to hit this place up for BB-Q. The parking lot is always packed but if you hunt around the area you can always find a place. The bar area is great for grabbing a cold one before dinner, they normally have the game on too. All of this is great but would not get me to go through the tunnel - the food is wonderful. I have yet to order something that did not hit the spot. If you are looking for a nice evening with great food you have to check it out!

Not a good experience!! Ordered a garden sallid for my side and it came with only a tomato on it. My comment to the server was thats it, thats all that comes on a garden sallid?? The reply was ya thats it!! There garden needs some attention if they only grow tomatoes. Or it should be called a lettuce and tomato sallid. The burger was under cooked and was not appetizing. The bartender also was not sympathetic to my complaint and I was stuck with the bill.

Visiting from out of town and wanted to check out a local eatery. My first clue to leave came when the server asked if anyone had mentioned that they were out of ribs and chicken. At first I thought it was a joke until he stormed off in a huff. He returned for the last time when he took our order; I had to find him later to bring the check. Had tasteless brisket, rubbery mac and cheese and a half-baked baked potato...feel like I got suckered out of $43!

Great BBQ joint! Its perfect for gatherings especially with family. The wait is ridiculous and theres a reason for it. Side portions are large and BBQ items were items. The Combination Dinner was my pick. It included 3 choices of meat which in this case Ive picked chicken, beef brisket, and pork ribs. Tasty BBQ! Beware of the limited parking spaces. Valet is an option and if you are lucky theres street parking. I was fortunately enough to find one.

You did it again! Our small necessary “convention” was a repeated success with the help of Back forty. Thank you for allowing us to host our meeting with you. The buffet was excellent like always. Brian, Adina and Rebecca where prepared for our group. They anticipated our needs and were never imposing. We look forward to book future events with you. Your entire staff excels!

This is not TEXAS BBQ! The pork ribs were dry along with the brisket. I ordered moist brisket just to be on the safe side, I cant imagine how the other brisket would be. The sausage was like spam in a casing. This place should remove TEXAS BBQ from its name. The restaurant is nice, beer cold and service was good. Oh the cornbread was spot on!

We went yesterday on a memorial weekend, which means they were super busy because they have several big parties. We thought oh we are going to wait for ever, but they said (very nice) only 10mins. The staff outside notice that I had my little dog and mention that I could bring her inside and eat in the patio, this was me

Im a cook at a fine dinning steakhouse in san francisco so Ive become a food snob, this is the first restraunt Ive been too in a long time that I had 0 complaints about.. everything was perfectly cook, from the med well temp on the burger, to the ribs. Great food all the way around. I will definitely recommend to others.
