My 6 year old daughter and I walked in 2 minutes behind my gf and her 10 and 13 yr old kids. It was hot, and I had just renturned a rental of those bikes with 4 sets of pedals, and weighs as much as a small elephant. The kind of bike that always seemed like my pedals were the only ones "working" at any given time. Anyway, before the 18 year old hostess could ask me "party of two?", I saw everyone seated just 2 booths behind the hostess. We kept walking, and she stopped me because I had a half of a water bottle in my hand. She said "sir, outside food and drinks arent permitted here". Despite my surprise and a little laughter as I said "Its just water", she repeated their supposed "rule". I mean cmon, even the movie theaters dont stop you anymore with a water bottle and they stand to sell a fountain drink for about $100 (joke). Ok, so with her 18 year old wealth of experience, customer service, tact and observation that I was there with my family, she authoritatively insistsed I couldnt keep my water. Without getting upset, I said "Yes I can, would you please send your manager over so I can speak to him about it, thank you". It took a few minutes, and the manager came over. Everyone was starving, the waitress seemed to be a doll, the kids were doodling and playing on screens. I politely explained to the manager that I was told I could not bring my half drank water bottle (recently purchased) in. Since there was a bar on the other side of the restaurant I offered up his explanation for him. I said that I understood why they might try to discourage it in general, for a group of guys or college age kids coming in to drink at the bar. But surely this must not apply to me and my family? He repeated the supposed policy. So at this point (specially considering how nicely I had handled this so far), I started taking this whole thing personally. I was offended, frustrated, perplexed, and embarrassed. To top it all off, I now had three hangry kids getting more anxious and snippy. So I took him to task on The "Cool Cat Cafe Policy", which happens to be posted all over NOWHERE. Not in the restaurant, on the menu, wall, bathroom stall, etc. I asked him why they did not search my girlfriends purse? I asked why I was not frisked? I asked why they didnt check the 13 year olds backpack, or my daughters brown paper bag? Before he could answer, I kept going. I asked what they do when someone comes in with a baby who uses a bottle, or a toddler with a sippy cup? I asked what if someone comes in with a special bottle of Alkaline or Kangen water which is way more expensive than regular bottled water? I asked what if it "appeared" that the bottle was unopened, and would that be ok? What if there was a medicine in there? I think you get my point, my logic, and his lack of reasonable answers. These were all rhetorical questions. He theaid, "well then, I have to smell inside without the cap on". Thats when I gave him a final chance to acquiesce. I asked if he was trained by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm agency, or the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). I said "This is crazy!" There is no precedent, real rule, sign posted, formal smell training credentials, or other expert knowledge rationale offered to me. I started to get up from the table, realizing this was a lost cause, since I could see logic would not win. My whole family and poor waitress were held hostage by this incident. Two kids started crying, and the 13 year old ran out because she was embarassed by the little ones, and everyone was upset because they were hungry. I didnt have to hold my ground, it was just a water bottle. I felt I was being bullied and cannot tolerate that. Coupled by rudeness, and further compounded by ignorance, I tipped my waitress anyway and we left. My final question to him was what he thought the Health Inspector might think about him sticking his nose into our water bottle. No reply as suspected. They lost out on a $75 lunch, but THEY DID EARN this review.

Best experience Ive head sence i started going to pismo i wnt fo lunch and tried the burgers and they were outstanding and tasted very fresh. There was 6 of us total and 4 were kids. The waitress at lunch was very friendly and helpful, in fact she was so nice and the food was so good we returned for dinner which is something we have never done on vacation is go to the same place twice in one day but we did and im glad we did because my wife got the clam chowder and it is by far the best in pismo hands down and i have had it at almost every restaurant in pismo and it blows away the "award winning" chowder across the street.my favorate item tho was the chili i will definatelly return for that chili alone!!! The waitress at dinner was just as helpful and friendly as the one we had at lunch. This is now our go to place in pismo. Keep up the ggod work cool cat see you next time

I was surprised at how rude the staff was. The person I was with has a severe food allergy and the waitress didnt seem to understand or care. She didnt bother to ask the kitchen whether or not they could cook something without the allergen. Instead she suggested a sandwich which was incredibly bland and the side dish was missing. There was no apology, no understanding, and no substitute. We were very disappointed and I cannot recommend this restaurant due to such a lack of consideration.

I had a phone order during a very busy night. The gal was very helpful and patient with my asking a lot of questions. (Im in need of dairy free menu items) There was a little mistake with my order, I spoke with David. He made me feel very valued as a customer and corrected the mistake promptly. Because of him, I will most certainly be a repeat customer. He is what customer service is all about.

For the price per quality, this is the best place in Pismo. Ive been in Pismo for 3 weeks and have eaten all over and have found the majority of places to be expensive mediocre food. Another BIG plus vs restaurants in the area; they dont crowd tables and people in. Its spacey and gives you room without having to constantly push squeeze in. This place really surprised me.

Party of six in my family and we are a foodie. AWESOME place to eat. I highly recommend them. We ate last weekend during lunch and the service, the quality and quantity of food was great. Their price was reasonable too. We will definitely return and recommend this place. Kudos to our servers and the cooks. Thank you for our great lunch last weekend. Keep it up.

From beginning to end, my experience at this restaurant was excellent. We had a professional energetic and efficient waitress. They had a very good amount of selection of alcohol. I ended up ordering the fish and chips. They were cooked to the right amount and combined with their tartar sauce was a great meal. The institution was clean and welcoming.
