Ube madness. I cant believe Ive never reviewed this. If you havent ever had Ube, let a fellow half-breed Filipino tell you: its delicious. Its earthy, similar to taro, but sweeter and packs more of a punch. Plus that vibrant purple color does amazing things. This place has one of my all-time favorite desserts: the ube flan cupcake. There are hundreds of photos of this thing all over their yelp. For good reason! The cupcake itself is teaming with ube flavoring, along with a wonderful flan on top that is as firm as it is delicious. This is their thing. Dont think twice about getting it. They have great milk teas and other desserts, but Im obsessed with ube. Ive had their ube truffle balls (the richest, most decadent ube dessert Ive ever had by far -- amazing), ube madeline cookies (surprisingly sweet -- delicious obviously), crinkle/crumble think (which is honestly just okay). Im sure Im forgetting others. Because of how they do their promotions, certain days give you certain products. I think the flan cupcakes are only on Wednesdays/Weekends? But this changes. Ive never had the ube "crack" cheesecake, but Im DYING to try it. Pro tip: check in for a free hibiscus cooler. Its delicious, the full size offering, and completely free. If they charged you for it, itd probably be over $3. Amazing. 2nd pro tip: they have a tendency to run out of things if its later on in the day (namely the ube flan cupcake). Show up before 3-4pm if you can! This creates kind of an exclusive feeling which Im okay with, and is probably because theyre so damn delicious and popular.

Their specialty purple "ube" in their pastries is absolutely delicious! I wanted to try their ube flan cupcake, but they didnt have any when I went. On the bright side, it gives me an excuse to come back here! I had one of the ube butter bars instead, and loved it! Very interesting taste Ive never quite experienced before, quite unforgettable. The milk tea and coffee drinks are really good as well. The cashier lady was very sweet and helpful with recommendations on what to try, and the cafe itself is very well lit and open, with lots of lighting and windows, and ample spaces for relaxing and studying. Its in a great quiet side street as well. A new favorite of mine!

This tiny grilled cheese sandwich we bought was $8.00. Cheese and bread with a handful of chips. When it arrived I stared in amazement at the food that we were to eat. The bread was rather hard. We didnt know if it was the type of bread of if it just wasnt fresh. The only positive about this place is that there was a decent amount of plugins and the wifi speed was nice (42 down & 14 up). The staff was also kind enough to turn the music down when we asked them. I would go here again, but will order something different. If I still feel like its a rip off then I wont be coming back.

Glad to see this cafe open up in Pasadena . Not your normal cafe shop, so if your interested in trying out something new this place has some items to try. They specialize in Ube flavored items and are being served on different days. This cafe specializes in some Filipino desserts and drinks that have a twist in them. To my surprise all that I have tried Has been great. This location is in the alley way near Guppy house in Pasadena . They have parking in the near by structures which they have plenty of parking .

I love ube and Cafe 86 does a great job with making drinks and desserts with ube. I always make sure to check in for their hibiscus tea and get thier ube crack cheesecake. The monster shake is also great if youre feeling for a smoothie, but the hot ube latte is also good as well if you crave the taste of ube but dont have a super sweet tooth.

Service is great here, super friendly staff, might be a bit slow at times but thats because its a small place. Every dessert Ive tried so far has been delicious. The truffle ube with an ube latte is my go to order. This place is small and they do sell out of items pretty quickly so just fair warning if youre looking for a late night snack.

The drinks and snacks at Cafe 86 are second to none. More than that though, the people that work here are some of the nicest people I have ever met in a coffee shop. It would be great if their ube flan cupcakes were available daily, but there are plenty of other great desserts to try too (matcha brownie is my suggestion)

This is my first time trying Ube Latte and it was good. I normally dont care for Ube/taro flavored things so this was actually okay for my taste. It was light, not too strong or sweet. Im curious to try the flan Ive dessert.

Had the grilled cheese. Featuring sourdough bread with a mild melting cheese. The cheese should have had more flavor or be paired with a good tomato soup. I also had the truffle cup cake and it was amazing

Nice cafe, with an original selection of milkshakes and other beverages. I had the matcha milkshake and the truffle ube muffin, which was good but the oreo covering is very overpowering.

Their yumi cupcake/bundt carrier was phenomenal. They only serve in Wednesdays and Sundays so make sure to come on these days to get this cupcake. Definitely unique sounds this area.
