Finally got to try this cafe this past weekend. I came here with a large group of friends for brunch for a birthday celebration. It was terribly hot yesterday, so I was hoping to sit by the patio but the place was packed. My friends told me to get any table available because The Filling Station is a hot spot in Orange. We were seated in about 45 minutes, which is apparently not too bad. The interior of the place is vintage looking with early 1900 (maybe 1800, not sure) decor. As for drinks, I went with the bottomless mimosas (orange). It wasnt bad but definitely not great. I wont be ordering it again. Would of been nice if it was cold and served in a glass, but I guess thats just me being picky. Anyways, I ended ordering the "Eggs Florentine" with roasted potatoes. The food rather long to come out but understandable it was packed and we had a large group. Once the food arrived, it was time for business. Everything looked great and boy ole boy was it good. The eggs cooked with the spinach, cheese, bacon, on a muffin was just heaven. It went from a loud table to silence because we were all enjoying our meals. I felt bad for those who wanted waffles and toast because they ran out, but the substitute of fruit looked fresh and delicious. The service was excellent. For a large table of 12 people, the server offered to split up the bills. We also noticed the servers did the calculations by hand, felt kind of bad but it all worked out. I can see why locals and people travel quite a bit for The Filling Station. The food is DELICIOUS and worth the wait. I plan on coming back soon because my friends steak and eggs looked so good. Highly recommend!

Filling Stations enormous menu has something for everyone - breakfasts, diner favourites, Mexican dishes, California casual foods...Prices are excellent, service is great, and the food is really comforting. Also a very dog friendly place...but watch where they put you or a pooch may get a better seat. Its incredibly busy at the Filling Station. They do an excellent job of turning tables. My waitress was super friendly, on top of everything I needed. My Huevos Rancheros ($9) came out fast, hot and delicious. It was really big - especially for the price! A great deal. One star off for where they seated me - in a tight pass-through looking out to the terrace through a window...tight, but the big problem was there were two busing tubs up against the window. My view was servers dumping dirty plates in the tubs. I was a solo diner - so I guess they were saving 4 tops for larger parties. I would go eat somewhere else than sit in that spot again...no matter how good it was.

It was my first time in Old Orange and the filling station was a true gem for dinner. They were the only place to eat without a wait and since my friend and I were a tad hungry we decided to try it. They have been open for dinner for less than a week, but with the food superb as it was, they will more than likely start getting a dinner crowd. I had the mahi which was cooked perfectly as were the rice and veggies on the side. My friend had the Chicken Marsala and the sauce and chicken were perfect, a good suggestion from our excellent server Matt. To finish things off we had a banana cheesecake fried pastry drizzled with raspberry and chocolate sauce. Oh delish! So if you were anxious about trying a new place for dinner in Old Orange, dont be, its fabulous!

One of our favorite places to go for dinner. The outside dining area is cozy, and the food is quite good. I almost always get the bacon wrapped jalapenos, with the French Dip of Veggie Sandwich as a follow-up. They seem to hire from the school (Chapman University), so the wait staff turns over fairly frequently, which is probably my only real criticism, the new folks have a learning curve and so sometimes we know the more than they do! But thats a minor issue most of the time, and the bus staff are there to keep things on track (they dont get enough appreciation, IMHO). This place is also very popular for breakfast, so much so that we rarely go, as we are too impatient to wait for a table... :-)

Cute outdoor seating area, and its certainly popular, but my meal was worse than mediocre, and the service was just okay. I ordered a Greek salad with chicken as a wrap. The chicken seemed old, like it had once been juicy fresh white meat but was left under a heat lamp for 8 hours. And they used black olives instead of kalamata. Thats not how you make a Greek salad. Black olives dont have the tangy kick of kalamatas. But maybe thats just my opinion. The chicken, however, was truly not good. Tables around us were getting burgers that looked decent, but Id say dont go to this place expecting more than an okay diner-type experience.

The Filling Station reminded us of cafe dining in Paris. We were able to sit outside in the rather large, umbrella covered patio; however, there was ample seating inside also. The French Dip was stuffed with meat and cheese and was served with a mixed green salad (my choice). The horseradish sauce, which was served with the sandwich, was quite delicious. My husband ordered the chicken tortilla salad. The large tortilla shell was stuffed with all sorts of yummy food. The craft beer and iced tea were delicious. We will return to this restaurant in Old Town Orange.

Great place to get breakfast which is served all-day long, and best time to go on a Sunday is in the afternoon if you want to avoid the morning breakfast crowd. We arrived around 2pm and there was plenty of seating. We ate on their covered patio out front which has heaters to take of the rainy day chill. Waffle was great & so was my friends biscuits & gravy, but the breakfast potatoes were served lukewarm and got cold quickly, but the staff didnt have a problem when we returned them. Mimosa was a little pricey for quantity, but good. Will definitely go back.

Ive been here several times, and it just gets better. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and the only problem is Im not sure which is better. My family owned the station when it was an Enco station so you can imagine that its also holding some great memories. I am a native of Orange and never left. Today is my 36th anniversary and being the romantic devil that I am, taking my wife to dinner there tonight. I recommend the Filling Station to anyone anytime, if there is a line to get a seat, get in line! Its worth it.

Food was okay at best. I asked for extra cheese in my cheese omelette and there was still not enough cheese for my liking. Secondly, I ordered bacon in my cheese omelette and the bacon was so think that I couldnt cut through. The entire omelette became all unraveled as I tried to get a small bite. The honefries ordered were actually really goof, and reminds me of the ones Ive gotten back east which is hard to find. For the crowds and ling wait, Im quite dissapointed.

Ordered 2 sandwiches for pick up ,drove all the way from the side of town to get there ,pay for the food and then be told that they dont have my burgers ready because the lady said and I quote "We are out of mushrooms, ran out around lunch time " knowing that I believe that the whole staff should have been notified so that customers would not order it .... just food for thought .... Communication skills are mandatory in any business
