3/16/15 My brother-in-laws cousin is visiting him from Hawaii, so my husband and I drove to Novato to meet her and take them to lunch. After an enthusiastic "yes" from me for Mexican food, Jon suggested La Hacienda. He and my sister used to come here and he said the food was very good. The food IS very good. The service was really one-two star worthy; but the food makes up for it, and the fact it was a Sunday afternoon and we had nowhere else to be. It took a couple tries to get drinks delivered to our table. A young man brought chips and salsa (pico de gallo and a hotter one) - I asked him if they had a secret hotter salsa in the back and he said yes, but then just brought another small bowl of the same hot salsa. No comprendo. But the hot salsa was tasty! Especially after our drinks arrived. I ordered two veggie tacos - Jons cousin ordered a veggie burrito (they have two types of these also). ONe of the veggie options is beans, lettuce, sour cream, and the other one has roasted vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, etc.). I ordered one of each and enjoyed them both. Especially the broccoli one, since thats my favorite food! The veggie burrito comes with a sauce which the waitress said shed put on the side for Sandy, but even after Sandy reminded her it wasnt brought until the meal was done. My husband had two carne asada and one carnitas taco. He said carnitas was the best. He had to go inside at one point (we sat out front) to get his drink refilled. He also had to go in when it was time to pay to take the credit card up, since it was really hard to get service at our table. A giant wasp visited us more often than our server. My brother in law ordered a quesadilla that was bigger than his appetite - it looked pretty good! I would definitely return, but not it I were local and needed a spot for a lunch break - service here definitely made this place a great spot for a weekend meal.

The owners of La Hacienda Taqueria are smart. They know that the clientele where the set up shop are mixed - the very white Novato and the very brown Novato. Where else can you find traditional Mexican fair mixed (burritos in the tradition Mexican way with cheese and sauces on top) with the Americanized Mexican version (aka the plain eat in your hand type) and Fajitas which, although great are not really Mexican but Texican. In other words, a style for everyone. My friend recommended this place and Im glad he did. Its really nice to sit outside as they have a great sidewalk spot right on the main drag of Novato. Its charming and comfortable. I thought the food was very good. While not La Taqueria in the Mission, its great stuff - especially considering its in Northern Marin. They have Mexican beer on tap which so few Mexican restaurants do. The meat flavor was spiced in a traditional way and the refried beans very good. Seriously good grilled/cooked veggies - probably my favorite detail. About the only thing I didnt care for were the chips and salsa. The salsa was pretty good but the chips tasted outsourced. The servers were great - way on top of it - they definitely know their craft. Ill visit again when back in Novato.

Oooo....my....Delish!!! Great service given by Antonio. I ordered the Macho Burrito with meat choice of Chile Colorado... WOW.... I/we, my hubby an I have finally found what we will call our favorite Mexican restaurant. Weve been traveling CA and NV for the last six years and have only found two other Mexican restaurants we like, in small towns of LaVerne CA and Winnemucca NV. Finally....finally....who would have thunk....in Novato. By the way my meal could feed a family of five....gezzzz....talk about left overs. I dont remember what my hubby had but he was silent thru dinner and also had left overs. See yall soon!

I would like to thank everyone a La Hacienda for all the help they gave my family and I for providing a excellent taco bar for my son and his fiancés engagement party. Angel helped us plan the menu and explained what time to pick up and how to set up the food and keep it warm during the party. 80 guests were provided with chicken and beef tacos with rice & beans and all the fixings. We had taquitos as an appetizer. There was not a single leftover, everyone loved the food. This could not have happened if it was not for Angel and the excellent staff at La Hacienda Taqueria!! Way too expensive for a small portion of food. And the Staff are super unfriendly. Some of them dont even understand anything you say or order. And other thing they made my order wrong and when I went back they said they dont do reorder. Not a good place to go and will never go here ever again.

Food is good. Price is decent. Nice for big groups now that they have expanded. Have gone there a couple of times for lunch during the week and the service is so slow. Had to get my food to go and take it back to work because I didnt have time to eat it. Go when you have time to spare.

I frequent this business every few weeks for the last 6 months. The food has always been consistent here so they have great quality control. I get a variety of dishes involving meat and its always cooked thoroughly. My favorite dishes are chicken burritos and beef tacos.

This has been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants for years. Good food with reasonable prices and decent service. And with the expansion into the space next door and addition of a bar, it has a much improved ambience.

Crazy buzy but staff was excellent, upbeat, and extremely friendly! We sat outside during a neighborhood high school parade. The place was packed, but you would never know it because the service was great!!

My favorite Mexican in Novato! This place got even better after their remodel a couple years ago. It is now larger and has a wonderful, full bar with lots of TVs for sports.
