When we looked up the reviews of this place we liked the one that said yo not come here with your foodie friends. All of the other reviews went off of that as well, giving the impression the food was very good, but nothing to rave about. Just a nice meal in the middle of wine country. This was exactly what we wanted: an unpretentious meal. Well, the food was okay, but very heavy on spices or seasoning. The bruschetta and angel hair pasta dish were both very garlicky, while my spaghetti bolognese was oddly spicy. The bread was just a bakery bought French loaf, one you could have picked up at any Safeway or other grocery store. The most disappointing part about our meal was the odd service. When we arrived at 7:25 for our 7:30 reservation, we were told to "come back closer to 7:30." Im not sure what that was about, but we then hung around pretty close in case they were a restaurant that wouldnt go to much effort to find you. Once we were seated, service was extremely fast. Our waiter came by 3 times in the first 5 minutes to see if we were ready to order. The third time we did just because we were feeling so rushed. We werent even brought waters until after we had ordered, despite us asking for them each time he came around. The last odd thing that happened was when a girl brought out our bruschetta and couldnt figure out where to put it as we had a small plate of bread on the table. We ended up having to hold our bread plate and side dishes while she put the plate down and then left. That one I know I am being picky on, as the tables were small, but they deal with it each night and should have a routine on how to fit the appetizer plate on the small table with other dishes on it. When all was said and done we spent 1 hour here. It was a whirlwind meal that felt rushed, but oh well. This would be a great place for a family meal with little kids. The best part of the whole restaurant is that the building is an old bank.

After a very fun wine tour in one of winery in Napa, we came to Allegria with a big group of Indonesians for lunch. I was one of the tour leaders. I was briefed that Allegria has one of the best Italian food in town. I proved it right! I loved the ambience, the building, the decor, the service and most of all the food. I really enjoyed every single plate I had: the fresh salad, the crispy calamari, the crunchy bruschetta, the capellini (angel hair pasta), the grilled salmon with spinach and mashed potato might look simple in term of presentation but tastewise is so rich. The tiramisu is so good too. My clients told me that they really enjoyed the food. Theyre also impressed by the warmth of the staffs. In fact, they even said that lunch in Allegria is one of the best things during their trip in SF. Thank you Allegria for the great food and the service. However, theres a little suggestion from my clients that for a big restaurant like Allegria, you would probably consider to have a more restroom to avoid a long queue. Well, we, Asians, love toilet by the way. Hahaha.

I give it one star because of the waitress who served us was quite rude ! While I understand you may need to see the ID before you serve alcohol , commenting on a persons looks about whether they look older or younger is none of their business !! This waitress looks at the ID humms and had the audacity to comment on my ID saying if that was fake or something cause I looked younger apparently to her !! Quite condescending and an unwelcome comment!!I forgot to notice her name , but I remember this waitress had glasses on . Some wait staff really do need SENSITIVITY training and for a good restaurant like this one . The only consolation was great food !

I reserved the Vault room for my fathers 70th birthday. Although it was small, it was very intimate, the restaurant itself had a wonderful ambiance and atmosphere, and the food was superb! The staff was very friendly, accomodating and knowledgable of wines, appetizers and the menu, and we never had to wait for a drink refill or more bread. Oh!, and the endless bread and dipping oils were fantastic! I recommend getting there for their fabulous Lunch Box Menu, and order the Napa Cabbage Salad, the Terriyaki Skirt Steak, and a very light gelato... completely worth $15.00!!! Ill now go there for any occasion, and my dad said it was his best birthday ever!

Average Italian food. Olive oil and bread starter is way too oniony. Nothing special about the bruschetta, descent. Crab cakes were a nice change with some Asian inspiration. Pappardelle with prawns was good but again nothing spectacular. Skirt steak entree was good but way too sweet with the teriyaki sauce or whatever they marinated it in for 72 hours. All and all not a bad experience at all, just average. Way too close to the couple next so we could hear everything and I mean everything. Service was great, food came out fast no complaints just average.

My wife and I have been dinning here for years and love the food and atmosphere. Very nice bar setting as well but the service is questionable at the bar from Kenneth as he thinks he is entitled to a significant tip although he doesnt do very much and customers have to call on him for service even when there are just a few people at the bar! He has this weird method of staring at you while you eat, as his attempt to intimidate you into leaving a tip although he knows he isnt worth a penny! So beware of Kenneth the oriental guy working the bar.

I was thoroughly impressed with this restaurant. Beautiful restoration of a bank! I recommend siting on the edge upstairs or even outside. The bread/oil was fabulous, the app sampler is great, skirt steak is divine! Even the chocolate mousse and raspberry coulis was amazing. The best part has to be the portions; it is up-scale "fancy" food that actually leaves you satisfied! Extensive, mostly local wine list. My only problem was that I was expecting Napa Valley without knowing the town of Napa was way different, no fault of theirs!

Good place to eat. They definitely try hard when it comes to presentation. Food is decent- I would avoid the teriyaki skirt steak, a little too sweet. I think they should take it off the menu. Keep it real- its an Italian restaurant right? Otherwise good food / bussers. Our server was a little off and the wait for food and water was longer than I would expect from a place that charges these type of prices. Would come back and try their other Italian offerings, it appear others around us were enjoying their pasta dishes.

You can never go wrong with Allegria. My go to dish is the gnocchi in creamy pesto sauce with grilled chicken. The gnocchi is perfectly al dente and the sauce is never salty. The bruschetta al pomodoro is great starter along with the calamari and the beef satay. As for dessert, go for the chocolate mouse cake. Its decadent and rich but espresso and coffee help cut the sweetness. Overall, I love this place. The staff is always attentive and friendly. You cant go wrong with Allegria.
