Some years ago, Queen Bean had several managers and owners. It appears that eventually changed, with only one woman in control. The hours changed. It closed sooner than it used to, and to make matters worse, employees would often close before the posted closing hours - kicking people out even when it was busy. I think they still do this. The other downside is that on weekdays, even in the evenings, there is usually only one person working - so the service is slow. There should be two employees. Also, some of the employees look really scuzzy - too many piercings and not enough baths or washing of clothes. On a couple of occasions, Ive even lost my appetite. Thats the down side.. here are the good parts.. First of all, youll get a good, strong cup of coffee - every time. They do the coffee right. After getting coffee from Queen Bean, Starbucks Coffee, and Seattle Coffee within Borders Books just seem really bad. I wont even buy coffee unless its at Queen Bean or another independent place, like Christinas in Turlock, but I think Queen Beans coffee is the best. The other really good thing about the place, and the most likely reason I still go, is how it looks. Its attractive and kinda funky inside and out. Reminds me of coffee houses in Santa Cruz, which I love. I really like the decor inside, and there is a large deck area outside as well, which is pleasant. I might even go today, just live with the bad service, and enjoy being at the place. Could it be better like it was? Yes, but I dont expect any changes. If they were to improve their service, and stay open later like they used to, Id be a regular, like I used to be.

Hipstersville! <3 Thats not a bad thing in this case, for this little cafe captures the comfy, expressionate feel of its locals. The interior is extremely cozy with its creaky and familiar wooden floors, couches that are softer than your grandmothers couch, and art that represent ones love for coffee. As for its exterior, the backyard allows visitors to immerse themselves into a garden with tall trees and the trickling of a fountain. The food and drinks are excellent. A bit pricey, but it will be compensated for its taste. They often have live performances at the cafe. I can never pin down the days exactly, but whenever Im able to attend, I have a blast. If you attend enough times, youll be able to point out the common local performers. Come on down here if you want to study, have a meeting, or grab a snack. Dont be afraid to talk with some locals, youll meet some cool people.

Ive been going here for over a year now and I love it. The food is wonderful with fun twists on good taste, and the staff is always happy to make a custom order without breaking the bank. The menu is standard fare of sandwiches and pastries along with coffee, mochas, and frappes. The people who work here are always friendly and welcoming and have a wonderful rapport with customers. The place can get busy (especially when they bring in live music for the back patio), increasing wait times on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, but for the most part there is nothing but excellent service. The atmosphere and decor makes you feel at home and away from the city. Love this place through and through, and have nothing but good things to say about it.

This beautiful little coffee house is cozily tucked into a lovely lush garden. From the moment I spotted it, to when I first walked in, to when I walked into the back garden area, to the moment I left, I felt such an overwhelming sense of peace and hospitality. Every single thing about this place was just so welcoming. During my visit I had a double espresso and a pistachio muffin, both of which were impressive. I almost dont want to recommend this place to anyone just so that I can keep this wonderful little place to myself.

One of the best hang out spots in Modesto. This is my first year going to the Queen Bean and I must say there is no disappointment, especially for someone who wants to enjoy a cup of coffee while studying. The service and coffee are great. Another thing is the Sunday performances they have(with mostly amateur musicians) but great music, a great outside area, and Wi Fi! So far its one of the best spots in Modesto for a student, like myself, or for someone who wants to try something new, something other then Starbucks.

It seems like there are a lot of rave reviews concerning this place and the food. I tried this place twice and both times I was let down by the service and food. The iced coffee I received was bland and the food I received was dry and tasteless. The barista (she had dark brown hair, short and a little heavy) seemed to be counting down the time until she could clock out. Its a cute place for studying or a get-together, but I wouldnt go for the food or service.

Great coffee and tea options and freshly made breakfast and lunch options in a very comfortable and relaxing indoor and outdoor atmosphere with friendly baristas making your food and beverage to order at reasonable price. Even strangers can feel very welcome in this establishment. Come every morning if you can.

Went here yesterday for the first time because I got invited on a date. This place is so relaxing, theres tables both indoors and on a large patio. Coffee wasnt as strong as I would have liked but I usually order a few things before I find something I actually like. Will definitely come again.

GREAT food and very nice atmosphere. The prices are reasonable too. The service is so good that I will leave a $3.00 tip on a $2.00 cup of coffee. I have to admit that I dont usually just have coffee, gotta have one of their sandwiches... TUSCANO... mmmmm good. Okay, this is really me.

Great place to hang out and enjoy some coffee. They are reasonably priced and good quality. It feels like youre in someones home when you go there because its literally a house converted into a coffee shop. Great people and atmosphere. I love going there and Im not a big coffee person

I was there a couple days ago with a girlfriend. Although we went there to have a coffee and to catch up, since we hadnt seen each other for a while. I found the place to be a hidden gem for getting away to read your fav book or browse the net or even to get some studying done as...

I waited ten minutes for my order to be taken. My peanut butter mocha was powdery. Ice was chunky. Super cute place. The outside is landscaped with many plants and inside they have a super cute dining area. I wouldnt order here again until they got drink consistency down.

Great little place, has good coffee and other drinks. The building that this place occupies in is old, so it definitely has that "heavy" energy because of that. Apparently there are groups that come here, one of which is an art group that i think comes here every week.

A great place to stop on a downtown walk to see the sights and sounds. Coffee and other drinks will keep you refreshed on the nice hot summers day or evening. I would recommend this place to anyone of my friends and even my enemies, not that I have any LOL.
