Who hasnt tried Umami Burger at one point in their lives? With all of their different locations scattered throughout LA, its kind of impossible to miss them. If youve been living under a rock all this time, however, then its time to get your caboose in gear and head over to this one. This particular one is located a stones throw from The Pie Hole, right across the street from Wurstküche, (I know, I cant pronounce it either), in the Downtown LA Arts district. Everything on the menu is going to be delicious. But if you want some serious food-porn-worthy pics on your Instagram and Facebook feeds, then I say go with one of their bestsellers: The Truffle Burger with a side of their regular, sweet potato, or truffle fries. They come served up with three delicious dipping sauces with a unique personality all their own. The beef is always of the highest quality, (and tastes like it), everything is made-to-order and tastes fresh, and the presentation never disappoints. Neither does the service. The price is a bit up there, ($12 for a smaller-than-most burger and a side of fries), but again youre paying for some great quality and attention to detail. They also have a pretty impressive array of alcoholic beverages and a TV. Now, Im no expert, but I think that means they want you to stay a while.

Just about a block south of the Little Tokyo Metro Station and in the very heart of the Los Angeles Arts District is Umami Burger. Yeah, Umami Burger. One of my favorite places to eat a gourmet burger and drink a nice cocktail. It was a pleasant surprise to find it, because I was hungry and the majority of Japanese restaurants were closed on a Sunday. This location is small and reminds me of the original location. Unique to this place is the copper art murals that adorns the walls. All Umami Burger locations are all designed to blend in the the community. The menu is very much the same like the other locations with the exception of a signature drink and burger that can only be found at each specific restaurant location. Expect an awesome selection of artisan beers since the Arts District used to house a handful breweries back in the early to mid 20th Century. As for the signature burger, its the humongous Arts District Manly Burger. Lots of pork and the meaty beef burger. I like this location as it is among the many other dining options in the Arts District and Little Tokyo. The parking is primarly street parking, but there are a good handful of paid parking lots around and there is always the metro.

Loved the whole experience here amidst the downtown blend of cultures only LA can do. Our group of 8 walked in after 15 minutes of parking spot searching and got sat right away. Its a small but urban modern hipster feel, real accommodating and polite. I feel the hype surrounding the food is well deserved. Menu offers a mouth watering array of ingredients that every restaurant should take on. However the burgers are extremely small at price point. I had the Sunny Side. A perfect combination of flavors but no where near as filling as $15.50 should do and can spend $6 for fries. Not at all bad considering the location and experience but theres more quality food for the money elsewhere... Hook Burger. Red Robin also offers better value.

A burger place in the arts district is refreshing and welcoming. I like that there is another food choice in the area (as opposed to a novelty desert place). That this is Umami serves the best burgers in town, well that is debatable. They are different and some people may mistake different for the best. On the day of my visit, it happened to be their 5th year anniversary and they were celebrating by offering patrons their original burger for $5. The burger was indeed good. Moreover, at $5 I think I paid a fair price for it (promotion or not) - I do not know what this burger is priced at on the original menu. I do look forward to going on another occasion and consequently will update this review.

How do I start with how great this place was? The food was absolutely phenomenal savory mouth watering burgers. Best burger I have ever tried #1 on my list. Not only was the food amazing but the customer service was 10/10 with attentive and friendly employees. The restaurant was clean and it just looked great in there I loved the setting. I dont live in Los Angeles but if I Could Id come here every day. If you are reading this review on choosing where to eat look no further come here! You will not be disappointed. Thank you for the awesome burger experience. Will be back soon:)

After all these years, the original Umami Burger (talking about the burger, not the restaurant) is still a brilliant display of burger innovation with each ingredient intentionally added for its umami flavor profile and that unique fried cheese lattice adding just the right kind of texture as well. Umami Burger (the chain) has lost a bit of its magic and direction over the years in my opinion but its still a great place to go for a good burger. As for this particular location in the Arts District, Ive always gotten great service whether dining in or ordering take out.

Went for the 1st time two weeks ago, and Im definitely going back again soon!! Our server was Kimmy and she was awesome! She was very attentive, took her time to tell us about their 3 dipping sauces, and my favorite one was Garlic. Recommended us different beers, my sister isnt a beer person, but Kimmy told her about Angry Orchards apple, which my sister loved. Food was delicious, tempura onions rings were my favorite! Definitely going back again soon, place was clean, chill atmosphere and amazing staff. Thank you Kimmy! Youre the best!

If you are familiar with Umami Burger, then you know what to expect. I notice that each location has a local specialty burger. The most remarkable part about this location is the heated outdoor patio in the back. Pro tip: if you arent a local, avoid Friday dinner time, not because of the waits, but because of the lack of parking. Its ridiculous! Metro it or Uber. Dont drive! Im telling you! Youll wait 20 minutes just to valet your car.

So, I have been eating healthy since I moved to LA 3 months ago and Ive wanted to eat here for a while, I was in the arts district today and said I would finally see what it was all about. I got the Manly burger, so good! Sweet potato fries were great and the spicy diablo sauce is the best! Would totally eat a second burger but theyd need to roll me out of the place if I did! Staff were really friendly and wine was $5, success!

Read it was good and ambiant place. It started with the hote who wasnt really smilling, a girl who didnt know whats a vegan burger... The burger impossible is suppose to be vegetarian or vegan but she couldnt explain me whats the difference between the two. Our waitress wasnt too smilling again and bring to us a meat burger when i said vegan. Maybe other Umami are better and gentle but this one, not a good experience!

Great manager, Mindy is such great help. Beware with the late charge on card payments they took a 30% tip without my authorization. Thanks to Mindy i should see it back shortly. I would tip if they earned it. Too much wait time to check out. It must have been because im Mexican. Or just the fact that the bill was only $100 dont know dont care. Good food overall bad service
