THE LOWDOWN==- Possibly the most popular hidden spot in Little Tokyo. Friday bar hopping night, but ended up getting food after being hypnotized by other peoples orders. The average sized bar area was not able to handle all the patrons. It was crowded beyond belief in that small room, about 3 deep. Funny though is that I dont remember it being muggy at all so kudos to that. Since it was so crowded at the bar, my group ended up taking a table outside, where we were serenaded by fun 80 90s hip hop. The waitresses were pretty busy running back and forth on this crowded night, but we got immediate service when we flagged for it. Burgers and fries clock in at under 10 bucks which is freaking amazing given the amount and quality of the food here. -=- BLAT Burger -=- Bacon Lettuce Avocado Tomato. The BLAT Burger was bomb-diggity. Thick bun and tasty med rare meat. Bacon was thick cut with a maple-ish glaze. Avocado was thick cut as well and was equally dispersed in every bite. My burger came out cold, which was a bummer, but Ill be back anyway. -=- Wasabi Fries -=- Its actually regular cut fries with a wasabi ranch dip. INTENSE wasabi ranch dip. Most would not be able to handle this, but to some of us champs, I was impressed by the preserved flavor of the dip through the wasabi kick. -=- Expresso Stout -=- It was by a Japanese brewer, I think, from all the Japanese writing on it. It was sooo good that I had 2 of the same. Its thick and a bit sweet, but its perfect for those looking for a filling beer without the bitter beer taste. Again: under 10 bucks for burgers+fries, awesome ambiance, fun crowd, food open till 1am. WIN!

-Saturday Night review- You can almost missed the tiny entrance on 1st street here for the Far Bar. Look for alley entrance! Why is it call the Far Bar? Perhaps, its because of the long alley or is it because its filled with Hot Asians on Saturday night?! Who knew! What I love most about this place is their ambiance...outdoors with plenty of heat lamps and seatings! They also have romantic bulbs lined above you that sets the mood, can anyone say date on a quiet night? Back to Saturday, the DJ was slaying some awesome 90s music out tonight! Theres really no room to dance, but it was great to shimmy in my chair! As for food and drink, heres my take: Espresso Stout - If youre a Stout and Coffee lover, get it! Its really easy to drink, yum! Shiitake Burger-Juicy, will make to order! Extra $2 will get you fries. If you like their wasabi fries, ask them to drizzle the sauce! Im not a super fan of wasabi, so Im not crazy over it. Ketchup please? :) -Sunday Night Review- Whats best about Sunday besides the Happy Hour, its quiet and chill here! Not exactly happening, but I love that you can meet a friend here and simply catch up! Happy Hour Sunday/Monday all day Tues - fri 3-7pm $2 off Asahi, Kirin $1 off all beer (Including my favorite Espresso Stout) $2 off of liquor HH burgers M-W $5 burgers I would say the best night to come catch up with a friend is Monday with HH all day and a $5 steal with the burgers!

This is one of the better places to go for Asian fusion. Id come back, if I had company. We stumbled upon this place because Daikokuya had a wait and I had arrived to the airport starving from my 5+ hour flight from the East Coast. The atmosphere is great in both the indoor and outdoor seating areas. The outdoor side has strings of Christmas lights and outdoor space heaters, while the inside area is cozy with a modern/industrial feel but probably has too many distracting flat-screen TV for my own preference. The food is better than I expected (I grew up in LA but have lived on the East Coast for about a decade now) and helped me remember that California is the OG fusion food scene. I ordered the Italian Samurai burger which is served on a deliciously crispy brioche bun. The burgers are made to order (well done/medium/medium rare/etc.) and the standout part of the my burger was the tamarind aioli which added a complexity and interest to my dish. I got plain fries, which were ordinary but the place is known for their wasabi fries anyway.

Trendy hipster place! Good service! Cocktails are really delicious! whisky mango foxtrot, and summer bash were two of my favourite sweet cocktails. I also tried terra nova which has Jalapeno flavor so it has good spicy kick! Again, delicious spicy drink! Food is ok! Presentation is beautiful, but flavor are not necessarily mind blowing- but good! I had the Far Bar Stacks, which is essentially open spicy tuna roll with salmon and cucumber! You can tell that fish is fresh and had good flavor. I really this place to anyone with a group of American and/or Asian fusion food love! Street parking! Near the end of our dinner, two house merchandise promoters (two girls) brought us "cherry whiskey" sample shots, and one of them took one shot with us. It was a little on the sweet side and pretty smooth! If they have it on the menu- recommended!

yayyyy I finally checked out Far Bar!!! Hidden bar/restaurant with mouthwatering stuff on the menu. Located between two buildings in little tokyo. You gotta walk through the narrow alley that leads you to a small cozy restaurant thats connected to the bar next door. Night time is the best time to come and enjoy the pretty christmas lights dangling above. The heater kept me warm. I ordered the J-Town Empress (crown royal, peach schnapps, pineapple juice, lime juice), which was sweet and yummy. The cocktail was good but it didnt impress me. My bf seemed pretty happy with his super dark bitter beer that the sweet waitress recommended. food: sweet potato fries with wasabi sauce. I dont like wasabi, but this was tolerable. The fries were great :)

This a popular place especially if youre in north beach. Tiny place, if theyre pulling off a Japanese style dining then theyre doing a good job. Make a reservation. We ordered the popular dishes and the cane out really good. The Izanagi taste great and I really like the strong grilled taste to it which reminds me of the ones I had in Japan. The sea bass was perfectly cook and the noodle came with it is amazing. My fiancé had the pork chop that he enjoyed as well. Overall, it was all good. But I guess, Ive been dining to some great restaurants lately and tasted some amazing food but now, Im looking for some WOW factor to this one and it didnt really delivered.

This place is pretty cool. I think I agree with most of the other reviews. They have good food and (seriously!) SO MANY BEERS ON TAP. Its kinda crazy. The place is really small, so you probably wouldnt expect much of their beer selection, but its pretty great. When I was there on Friday, they had some neat beers from a local brewery. I think this is a regular thing and they switch up the brewery. Pretty cool! There are bouncers outside, but the place is very unpretentious. The bouncers just check ID; no dress code or anything crazy like that. AND they stop people from smoking in the outside alley part of the bar. Its awesome. F you, smokers!

Three words. Strawberry Cheesecake Eggrolls. If you ever go to Far Bar in Downtown Los Angeles, Little Tokyo, you must MUST must eat the Strawberry Cheesecake Eggrolls. It sounds like a weird combination but you can thank me later because its THAT spectacular! Its literally like a delicious party in your mouth. I really dont know how else to explain the taste of this dessert. Its too complex to describe it aside from it being one of a kind. (: TBH I wasnt too fond of any of the other food there. The Cheesecake egg rolls were the only thing that caught my attention. (aside from the alcohol because you can never go wrong with alcohol)
